I went to the store in hopes to get something quickly and my check hadn't posted on my account yet so I was in the car trying to fix that, I went inside and I gathered about 20 items I was in there for a while, next thing I know, I'm being approached by a police officer that said he wanted to know what I was doing in my car outside I told him I was trying to fix my account because it wasn't reflecting my paycheck and I needed that to shop in there and he said okay and was nice enough and left me alone my problem was that it was the women that worked there who were being rude and trying to be dramatic and acting like something was wrong because I was sitting in my own car in the parking lot minding my business for five whole minutes I don't think that warrants calling the police on somebody so I took all my items to the register and I told them I only wanted two things because I don't feel like it's appropriate to be harassed for sitting on my phone in the parking lot for 5 minutes that's ridiculous and I will never stop there again nor will I recommend anybody ever go there, unless you feel like being harassed by the police in the employees that work there that think they're better than the rest of us.* As of December 2023, they have acquired great staff that is very helpful and kind.

Since new management has taken over, the staff are far more pleasant and i just had an experience that I cannot believe, but I also don't want to share. This place is the best-staffed Dollar General anywhere in the area! They're not getting paid nearly enough for all they do! Stop in for some friendly neighborhood shopping from an A+ staff!

Nice store, good selection, most employees are friendly and helpful. DO NOT care for the one employee that follows you around acting like you are going to steal something. Pretty degrading feeling.

Bought several bags candy (5) that was in the xmas 50 % off box. Got home , checked receipt , was charged regular price.($ 3 a bag , wouldn't have bought it) Made special trip while out doing other business to get it corrected . Told wouldn't correct it , because it was Valentine's day candy (6 weeks away) , that wasn't on sale . Would have to bring all them back to get credited. Live 10 miles away , not going to do that , just to return it , that was supposed to be marked down it the first place ! Asked why they were in the discount box , couldn't give answer. Need to make sure stuff is in the right box in the first place ! Isn't the customer always right , when you make the mistake ? Like to keep business local. Talked with main manager when I around Montezuma again and she righted this wrong. Have a few new employees that don't have everything down yet. She is good at righting a wrong that could have cost them business. Was real friendly to talk with about what happened. Will be back knowing stuff can be fixed to make the customer happy and coming back.

The only place I could find windshield marker pen. So good deal. In fact after looking with clerk for a while we gave up...I gave up. She found the markers and gave me shout as I was getting into my vehicle.

I am thrilled Dollar General came to Montezuma. Its really handy for me. The store is a little cluttered (overstocked) but they have a good selection for most needs.

Can find in most small towns. I visit one in Marengo, Grinnell & Montezuma. All in Iowa. Love great selection of household items & food. Great low prices.
