We stayed here while on a trip through Iowa . The motel consists of a main building and 3 out buildings. It's definitely an older motel, but it is kept clean. Our beds and pillows were very comfortable, the room was good-sized, and the staff were available for anything you needed. Very friendly also. Coffee was available 24/7, and the breakfast bar includes juice, cereal, breads and muffins and make-your-own waffles - which were very good. Would I stay here again? Yes

I like to leave reviews, the good, bad....I stay observant to let you know.No problems here, excellent rooms, clean and very well temp. Pool. (Upper 80°'s?) Hot tub( I didn't turn it on because i had my 4yro in with me) was about 95-97° not bad for idle temp. 24hr coffee, breakfast options where decent.

Stayed here a few years back no issues so decided to stay again with my aunt. Big mistake on coming back. After getting to our room there was food still in the fridge from the previous guest, paper plates in the drawers and they seemed to not have been cleaned for a while as there was a thick layer of dust in them. Went to go plug my phone in and trash under the table, turn on the light by the bed trash by the night stand and under it as well. Didn’t notice till I was about to check out of the room but there was a plastic bag over the fire alarm. Which is not only highly illegal to do but unsafe for the person staying in the room. Also hair in the tub. The breakfast was okay. The fridge they have the yogurt in could be kept at a colder temp as my yogurt was slightly warm.Normally I can look past a few things here or there because some people miss things when super busy. But it’s the off season. Try to do better.

Location is perfect if you aren't paying to stay on the lake. We went to a concert and drove 4 minutes to the hotel. We stayed at The Bridges Bay Resort one night prior and the rooms were comparable. The service was better at the Roadway in overall. It was about $110 dollars cheaper too for a basic room and the Roadway had a basic breakfast which was perfect for hitting the road because they had prepackaged donuts. The hotel could use some work obviously but if you are traveling to Okaboji and the lake view isn't a breaking point. I highly recommend the Roadway Inn in Milford. Both the wifey and I do. And it is an easy choice when we're coming back in the summer with all the kids.

Property is quite dated, but they do a somewhat decent job keeping it up. I was in the building behind the main building, which was quite musty smelling (like an old lakeside cabin that gets closed up every winter). Fortunately, the bedding didn't smell terrible, so it was tolerable, and the bathroom was clean but could have used updating also. The AC/heat unit made an ungodly noise at times, but settled down with a few adjustments. If I was spending more time than sleeping in the room, I'm not sure my review would have been as good. The breakfast was lackluster but passable, no "hot" breakfast aside from the waffle maker. Also note, it was off season so the rates were lower, and you get what you pay for comes into play... I may not have been a bit harsher if I was to stay mid-summer. This hotel isn't quite deserving of the four stars on the Choice Hotels website, but it's not anywhere near the worst stay I've ever had.Nearby activities: Okoboji is beautiful, even in fall when the "season" has ended. I was fortunate to have great weather during my stay and got to appreciate the nearby waterfront and sunshine.Safety: I was in a separate building, which required keyed entry besides room keyed entry. Parking was available right by the building. No security concerns.

We stayed at Rodeway Inn & Suites Milford – Okoboji Lake on Saturday September 9, 2023. At check-in our original room, #104. We entered the room and it strongly smelled of cigarette smoke. We went back to the front desk and asked to switch to another room. We were given room #103 and this room did not smell much better and we kept it anyway because we had a wedding to attend.Everything was okay until midnight when three people tried to enter our room using access keys that worked to our room. Luckily, the door security latch was used to keep the people from entering the room. Yelling began with the individuals trying to get in the room. They apologized and went back to the front desk. This could have escalated into something worse since my spouse is a retired police officer. We then found the deadbolt was not working to lock the door shut either.Several minutes later, the front desk called the room and wanted to know how we were in room 103. We told her what happened at check-in when our room was changed from 104 to 103. The front desk person said it was not changed in the system which caused the error with giving this room to the other individuals. At check-out we told the front desk person what happened and all she offered was an apology and we could write the owner. Nothing else was offered except our receipt!

Stains all over the room. On the bed sheets,on the towels,on the walls, even the inside of the lamp shade. It was obvious that they only cleaned the bare minimum, because there were several large disgusting urine stains underneath the toilet seat. Staff was nonexistent, and the breakfast wasn't replenished daily. The same five pastries were on display for my entire 3 day stay. The best thing was the lack of other guests, but now I see why that was. All in all, it's worth the extra $20 to stay at another hotel that actually cares about appearances.

WOULD NOT RECOMMEND this hotel unless you’re desperate for somewhere to stay. We had only been checked in for a hour and a half before the nightmare begun and resulted in leaving even though we had driven 4 hours to visit family.. When we reserved our room we were aware they had a pool and hot tub but was not told or not mentioned on website that one of the facilities was unusable. Moving forward, one of us got into the shower which there was just a shower no bathtub. Water began to fill the entire bathroom instantly becoming a risk to fall and started to come out onto the carpet leaving it soaking wet. We became dissatisfied and decided to talk to the manager about the concerns with the bathroom and was told there was no point of coming to take a look at it and that’s how handicapped accessible rooms are.. We politely asked if we could get a different room and was told by the manager she could not do that I guess she ended up changing her mind she did give us a downgrade from what we paid for. Bless her heart. We decided to check out the room before moving our belongings and it ended up being even worse. Both beds had black stains on every piece of the bedding the pillowcases, sheets, and comforter. There was dust everywhere and the carpet was stained and dirty. I’ll never forget the stench throughout the hotel. I have never dealt with the disrespect and unprofessionalism we endured like we did tonight it was horrible!!! The manager was accusing us of things we never did and she was caught in many lies. We got most of our reimbursement back but the manager charged us a $45 fee for a room upgrade we never stayed in??? But she put on the receipt we were paid in full. Save your time and money and go somewhere to a place that actually cares about their customers!!!

Just barely ok stay. I only gave as much as 2 stars because they allow large dogs. The main hotel looked like it was probably nice but the section we were put in was terrible. The carpet was disgusting-we kept our shoes on because it was so stained/dirty looking that we were grossed out. Bathroom was sketchy (weird black stains? in the sink, some sort of broken off brackets on the wall). Key lock on the door had no back so the batteries just were sticking out. The air conditioner didn’t work very well either. Not a very good stay. Won’t be recommending.

What a pleasant surprise! For only $94 per night this place is way better than other hotels that charge $140 or more. Very clean. Responsive staff, quiet, nice clean pool. Grocery store and other stores conveniently located right across the street so I didn’t have to do any extra driving. Room was nicely air conditioned upon arrival (unlike previous night’s hotel where I arrived to a hot stuffy room). Good walkable location, not far from tourist attractions. Definitely the best value I have seen in a long time!!

A 5 minutes from Arnold's Park and Lake ojaboji. Totally recommend as this little hotel was way cheaper than anything in okoboji. They had a nice continental breakfast which was waffles cereal toast fruit oatmeal. The pool was really nice and it closes at 10:00. Rooms were clean. Close to a Dollar General, maybe 3 minutes away. It had a microwave and a refrigerator in it.

Me and my family had just checked in at 4:00 pm left then came back at 8:30 to go to the hot tub. Until we found that there was little to none water in the hot tub. We had found that out after we tried to turn the jets on and when we did we got a gross rush of mold and mildew after we had left disappointed because we got no information about the none working hot tub. But when we tried to take a shower the whole bathroom flooded without any drainage. We had discussed the issue with the front desk they had gave us rude attitude and tried to tell us we couldn’t get an upgrade until we came to an agreement. She told us we could look at the other non flooded room before we decided we wanted to move rooms but when we walked in the room had also smelled like mildew and the bed drapes had unfamiliar stains and food on them this 2 hour stay was the most unpleasant stay I have ever experienced.

Not sure how this hotel has an average rating of 4.2. I spent 40+ nights in hotels this past year. I usually stay at the same Quality Inn that has Rating of 3.7. Nothing fancy, but clean and has good customer service. This hotel was not even close to as nice. Service was bad. Had to wait forever at the front desk to check in. Room was REALLY dated. That normally wouldn't be grounds for a bad review if it was clean and we'll taken care of. This room was not. Beds were sagging tremendously in the middle, pillows were about 3 inches thick, ancient, and had no support, mildew around the tub, and the AC/heater sounded like a jet engine. If you are a loyal Choice hotels customer like myself stay at The Inn Hotel Ascend. Similar price and MUCH nicer. I did look at one of the rooms with 4 queen beds for a future family visit, before going to the room I had for the night. It looked a lot nicer. Maybe the rooms in the main building are better.

This is my first time leaving a bad review for a hotel (and I have stayed in many), but there were Blood Stains on all my sheets along with various other crusty stains. Holes in the wall, bad smell, the hair dryer was broken. We asked to see the room before booking, then after booking, we were placed in a completely different building across the parking lot (that was half the size and completely different than the room they showed us). It looked like they have never cleaned their bathrooms. Even after complaining, the new bedding that we were given was stained. To top it off, they were charging $140 a night!!

Overall clean, quiet and very comfortable. I got great sleep! Staff was friendly, the breakfast area maintained nicely. Details not up to par: toilet paper down to the last sheets and no more in the room. One bar of soap between the shower and sink.

Found a rare gem in the middle of nowhere! Thoroughly exceeded my expectations! Front desk personnel was very helpful, patient and attentive. Large room. Plenty of fluffy white (not dingy) towels. New fridge and mic. Big TV. No smell. Clean, comfortable beds 😊 Several chairs. Clean carpet. No dusty surfaces. Freshly painted walls. Im a truck driver that stays in hotels all over the country. This was a great bargin for the price! Would definitely recommend!

The room stunk so bad the carpets were insanely gross and stained, I didn’t even want to take my shoes off. If you wanted to comb your hair I actually had to get on my-knees to see the mirror. The only plus they had was water to take a shower. Good luck combing your hair when you’re done. Cost $205.00 on a Thursday night if you wanna get ripped off and be disappointed this is the place to stay.

It was a nice location with a nice pool/hot tub area! The staff member Bhumi was very nice and helpful. The room I had was nice and private. Not sure if it was the air conditioner but it smelt a bit like must or mildew when first walking into the room but otherwise the room was good. Would recommend for anyone traveling over to the lake.

I don't usually stay at a Rodeway Inn but decided to give this one a try because of the responses by management to reviews on the Choice website. My room was very clean. It was humid in the room. I assume that is because it is right next to the pool. The staff who checked me in didn't say much however when I came down for breakfast the customer service Nicole provided was great. She knows what hospitality means. Breakfast is a hot breakfast, bacon, sausage, eggs, biscuits and gravy, plus the waffle maker. Impressive for a small area. I would have given this review more of a 4.8 but can only give full stars.

During Phone reservations we requested two queen beds. Upon check-in we were put in a king room. The room was very small. The night stands were very dusty. One of them had water spots. The room had not been used in a while, Needed a room refresher. Came down for breakfast I asked for orange juice because the machine was out. They said they were out. That room needs a new mattress. Won't be returning. Registered with Expedia and priced at $94 at Okaboji Inn and Suites. No pool but I'm good with that.

Where to begin. Upon check-in, I was told the room was ready but after going to the room, I saw it was clearly not. The room was a disaster from the guest prior. Bed was unmade and still had the old sheets, garbage, and wine bottles still in the room. When I called the front desk, they were not helpful at all and said it would be 30-45 minutes before someone would come clean the room. Even after the room was cleaned, the sheets were damp and stained, and there were flies buzzing everywhere. I was very displeased with the experience and would never ever come back or recommend the hotel to anyone traveling to the area.

When we first arrived in our room there was mold under the sink but the employee, Bhumi, was incredibly nice and quickly cleaned the mold. We were moved to a new room which was much nicer and perfectly clean. Bhumi did her best to help us as much as she could. Overall a pretty nice hotel and I'm sure the mold was a rare occurrence. I would recommend this hotel.

Bhumi at the front desk was amazing, and so nice. There was a problem with my room before check in, they called to let me know and offer a discounted room if unable to fix before check in. The room was fixed and ready to go when I arrived, Bhumi checked us in and was so kind and accommodating. The location was great for pretty much anything youd want to do, the hotel was clean, updated, and we'll kept. Our room was wonderful, we enjoyed both the pool and hot tub. Breakfast was yummy and I'd never stayed somewhere where snacks and coffee were available around the clock free of charge. Will definitely be booking another stay here.

Front desk lady is racist . Rooms were okay. We came here for the Fourth of July weekend. My family and I came down for breakfast around 8:30am. The waffle mixture was out when I asked the front desk lady she said they were out. When a white family asked her about the waffle mixture she said she'd check if they had any and to our surprise she brought the waffle mixture out and replaced the one that was out. Definitely not a good experience.
