Trey has got to be one of the nicest employees I've ever met. He checked my items out for me the other day while having a friendly conversation. He was really nice about everything and told me where I could go buy bolts and screws. He said he really loves working here and couldn't imagine himself working anywhere else! What an awesome guy!

People that work at the store are some of the dumbest people alive. I drove over three hours to pick up some aluminum deck railings on Rays list. they were supposed to have eight railings in stock that was listed under a specific brand name and SKU number. I called the store before I left my house to ensure that they did, in fact, have the specific item I was looking for. When I got to the store, the items turned out to be a different product, although it looked very similar in the low quality pictures they post on Rays list online. Actual product in the picture was a different product with a different name and different SKU number. When I asked if they would adjust the price of ONE of the three railings that I ended up picking up, they said there was nothing they could do. So, even though they mislabeled an item on their website, they were too lazy and unintelligible, to make it right. So, I drove 3 hours back home. Menards as a brand really doesn’t have a clue what they’re doing.

I don't care for the lack of service or attitude from a employee in a dept that should have knowledgeable people in it. Also he didn't order some of the items that he said he did so couldnt start the job without spending additional money for more expensive items on hand. Otherwise great store!

Especially disappointed with my experience at this store today. Our satisfaction with this store varies greatly with each visit. Often it is a struggle to receive adequate help, or even the right directions to an item. Today we stopped to pick up a new toilet, and when it was brought to our car it was damaged, as shown in the photo. The clearly marked "fragile" box was dented on two sides and even had a small hole. The employee assured us that the toilet would be in good shape, so we brought it home. Sure enough, the toilet is shattered. Called about a replacement and was told some of the others looked damaged, but some boxes were probably okay. Why don't they check their stock before selling it if they are on the shelf damaged like that? Regardless, I was told I would not receive compensation for my hour drive for a replacement, and they do not do deliveries. So disgusted for the wasted time out of my day today.

We bought a 12 x12 shed kit and had to wait a week for lumber they did not have on hand, then when we went to pick it up all they had was the lumber that had to be special ordered and nothing else. They never told us we had to pick the rest of the kit ourselves. It was a kit so we thought when we ordered it it would all be ready when we were told to pick up. One good thing, the guys in the yard were VERY helpful. Thanks yard guys

I had 6 sample size pots of paint mixed Sunday afternoon. 5 of which were varying shades of biege. Upon trying to paint the samples this evening I find that not 1 of them has the name or color number, just the recipe. This is truly unacceptable. Now I have to try and determine which sample does with which name.We are in the process of painting the entire interior of our new home. Menards you have lost a sale due this negligence.

THE MASON CITY MENARDS STORE NEEDS LEADERSHIP REPAIR! This store is a below grade Menards Store. Leadership allows and deliberately places damaged product on the floor without full honest disclosure and a no return option. The GM, Sam M., made this known with the verbal statement, “Some people like to buy and repair”. In addition, the GM made an analogy effort/attempt to compare the damaged product like buying a used car so again admitted to knowingly placing damaged product on the floor. The Better Business Bureau wouldn’t find this to be acceptable behavior. Menards is known for escorting leadership out of the Mason City Store. Don’t stop now! Menards employees/worker bees can’t dress for success, prosper, or be trusted when leadership lacks honesty, integrity, morals, ethics, and customer service intricacies. The GM’s, Sam M., ego is controlling the necessary complexities for outstanding leadership to the employees and customers. Return this GM to the Spencer, IA store as soon as possible…they can have him. To all the N. Iowans and S. Minnesotans…GO LOWES and FLEETFARM! There is a better place to be! Don’t get caught in the Menards Rebate echo chamber marketing ploy…go elsewhere for discounts, sales, quality product and high end honest service. NOTE: Google Reviews aren’t enough to get change or results, Menards corporate needs to be in the know with formal complaints. My family has commenced the start of severing ties with the Mason City Menards with approximately $800+ in returns and more coming.

Stopped 3 different people for help. 2 of the 3 just pointed in a direction, said "over there!" (Over there was waaay on other side of store!) 3rd person said, " oh should be across from bathroom. Which it wasnt! Couldn't find half the items we needed. Used the bathroom. 7 stalls, 5 dirty, the 2 that weren't disgusting had no toilet paper. Just yuck! They could do better.

Employees for the most part try and blow you off. Don’t care about working. Mistakes are very common. Mask policy was rediculous. Very little customer service. Lots of just plane rude employees. Make you feel like your bothering them when asking for help.👎🏻

After a year of shopping this location, I have finally decided to end my shopping relationship with these people. Their cashiers are rude, there is little to no help on the floor and their prices are high for the things I need. Just because they are one of the bigger stores in this city does NOT mean they can treat their customers as an inconvenience.... see ya I'm not crossing your threshold again.

The employees at the Mason City Menards store were absolutely amazing. My mother-in-law called in an order. The employees that helped her did as she asked. They were helpful and willing to help her. She is rather older. However, the employees helped her. We came in to put the order on layaway after some double checking the items in the cart. Then helping to find an item forgotten and added lastly. Amazing job your employees did for my mother-in-law and she even became a bit testy for a second. They wore their smiles anyway. Thank you. The number of reviews was at 666 when I looked at this and I couldn't not change this. Menards has always been pretty good as long as you know what to expect. its a local big box store that has decent prices at average prices. SOME OF- Not all of their young staff in the yard can avoid helping customers like the plague. That's the only complaint, they congregate on their phones in places where they know management cant see them. its frustrating. Management should definitely look at this

When Dennis an I went to look at a new washer a very neatly soft spoken young gentleman told us all the info and that they had one in back still in the box! I will have someone bring it out to the dock and here is all the information you may have to checkout and I will meet you at dock 14! Absolutely; clean as whistle we were checking out! It was a pleasure to buy without to much info but very knowledgeable about what we needed to know!Thank You; Sir we look forward to seeing him the store when we come back! I believe that his name was Imam! He told us that he had just started working there!You would have never thought that for as much knowledge he told us without a sales pitch!He's an awesome man! I hope to see him the next time we come back! Do get him a new name tag!He deserves to be known!

Awesome place to go If you need anything for your house such as shingles, Floors. Workers are very understanding and know how to do they're job better then anyone truly love going here and just roaming around but have bought something here!. Wood stock is amazing, and have good wood working products.

It's Menards, nothing more and nothing less. I don't enjoy going there because their parking spaces are too close, there are virtually no workers, their products are non-name brand so they are either great quality or complete garbage but you don't know which. They deserve to be charged by the FTC for misleading customers with their 11% sale. They should NOT be allowed to list the *sale price when they are purposely making it difficult to file the dang rebate and it's store credit so it literally would NEVER equate to the price they list.This particular Menards has an old decrepit restroom for a home improvement store.The good? You may get a chance to speak to one of the department folks and they are knowledgeable and helpful, even when they act like they hate their life. Good hard to find products, like ductwork, PEX B, and trusses.Go at your own risk, and expect to hate it and it may not be all that bad.

Not a joyful shopping experience, I'm sorry to say. There's no real brand diversity available from which to choose. Staff go out of their way to be unavailable and if you do manage to catch one, they're not helpful, knowledgeable, or even very happy for that matter. All the lumber is warped and/or split. Checkout is uncomfortable if not stressful; since the cashiers are expected to do as little as possible, I have to do all the bagging while operating card transaction (on a kiosk that hasn't been sterilized,) and then the next customer is already being addressed and pushing me aside. There's no assistance for heavy items out to my vehicle. And the cart caddy is overflowing across the parking lot. There ought to be more competition in this town.

Was an in and out trip today got the light bulb I was looking for pesky little weird thing for a desk lamp and some screws. Store was strangely busy! The associates I did run into were busy helping customers or did say hi as I passed but I knew what I needed and where I was going, I was on a mission, in out and on my way! The only downfall today was long check out lines, 4 registers open and all deep lines. Like said though strangely busy.

The store is always clean and I always find what I am looking for. For the most part I find most of the employees are friendly but it is hard to find someone who can help me find a item as employees will walk right past a person without asking if the customer needs help and a few think they are better than anyone else and are a little snooty. I still wish the company would do "actual" rebates and let the customer decide where he wants to spend the rebate instead of controlling the customer. Actual "sales" would be nice instead of the rebates or with them. Price gouging should not be allowed.

I placed an order online and when I went to pick up waited over an hour with checker calling for help 2 times. I told them I wanted my money back and they acted like no big deal. New employee (Quinton) jumped right on it and was more than happy to help me. Sad the others in the back were not as helpful. This not the 1st I have had to wait for employee assistance. Getting fed up with this store.

Not so happy with Menards today. Wanted 1 disposable basket. We found them but they were on the top shelf and second shelf from the top. Walked from the west corner to checkouts where there were several checkers (nice) but no customers. Asked one of them to call some help for us. No one came. Finally got it myself, almost on my head. When i got it home it was missing one end piece.

My only disappointment is they only had one bag of the dog food I wanted. They had gotten 10 bags in yesterday and at least I got one. I understand there maybe shortages so I understand they fly off the shelves fast.

Bought over $2000 worth of building supplies on 12/20/19. Some of it was special order. Order arrived , went to pick up and part of it was not there. Waited two weeks, said it would be there,drove 90 mile round trip again and still not there. Said they would order it again and have someone deliver to me. A month later still have not received the last of my order to finish job . They never once offered to do anything to make me want to spend another dime at Menards.

If you ever have a problem that needs a quick fix I wouldn’t suggest shopping here! Slow rate of service from the entrance to the check out. Renting equipment from customer service was a task in itself, “What do you want?” was how that process began. Fortunately for them it’s the only major hardware and lumber store around so people have to keep coming back!

Just left Menard's Mason City. No customers in front of us at checkout, but 3 employees standing and chatting at cash register, not about work, for a good 2 minutes before acknowledging us. One person behind us, also watching wondering why we aren't being helped. It was one of two checkout lanes open, the other lane had a long line also but at least they were moving along. There have been rude employees at the registers from time to time over the years, but not as bad as today.
