Card reader broke for days, front desk has to let you in the room. Breakfast is trash, got cereal from the dispenser and a dead moth was in it. Smells bad throughout. Room door about to fall off the hinges, gets stuck trying to open it and have to push hard to close it. Definitely would not recommend this place, definitely in dire need of new management and upgrades/remodel.

Floors in rooms recently updated to laminate flooring which is a big plus for cleanliness. Fresh paint brightened everything. Owners are making regular updates and plan to continue to do more. Been staying here weekly for work the last 3 months. 2 years ago I was here weekly as well for about 3 months and they have made big changes since. Good value for the price.

We stayed there 14 nights in October. The rooms are being updated and are clean. We had stayed there years ago and wasn’t pleasant. With this last stay, we like the improvements that have been made. We will stay at this days inn every time we visit mason city in the future.Rooms: The rooms are clean and comfortable. Our king room was very spacious.Nearby activities: There are many different restaurants and stores within walking distance.

Rooms are clean. Host are nice they have awesome smiles. I'm just starting to review hotels considering the time about to spend in them. Traveling g a lot for business. One thing about this place. Location I gave 4 stars out of 5 because of the weird guy lurking around my vehicle when I came out. I realized he was amazed at my blinking camera that records movement when you step behind my vehicle. Should ha e snapped a photo. LolWas trying to get breakfast, but it was slim. It's not like the old days.Rooms: Clean will stay again

We travel to Mason City 4-5 times a year for my business and we always stay at Days Inn a minimum of 3 days per trip. The rooms are clean and quiet and the staff is always friendly and willing to help with anything you need. The beds are comfortable as well. Since our last stay, the owners have started painting the rooms and updating the TVs and decor. When talking with them, they are working on updating the flooring and then the furniture.I highly recommend this hotel. Don't let the low ratings fool you, this is a great hotel for a reasonable price!

Days Inn Mason City, Iowa is truly the best hotel you could choose for your stay. From the moment I walked through the doors, I was impressed by the warm and welcoming atmosphere. Bad experience:1. Rooms/infrastructure needs updating2. Boxes and packages left in hallways dbd under stairwell are an eyesore and safety hazard3. Room was NOT clean (dirty rug, dirty sink and toilet, questionable roach droppings in bathroom)4. Food smell permeated entire building5. Sorry excuse for breakfast6. No weights in fitness room7. Shady clientele (felt unsafe)

We take our dogs everywhere and have counted on free and lower prices pet fees, which is why we choose certain hotels. This one, on the Wyndham site, said $10 each. Apparently it's wrong because they charged My husband $40 for the 2 dogs for one night, almost the price of one of their basic rooms! Thoroughly disappointed, and we've stayed there several times because we have family nearby. Next time, we'll go to Albert Lea where the dogs are free.Rooms: Rooms were clean and as expected. Nothing to deter us or complain about.

I had a reservation for one night, I was in room 117. When I got there the carpet was wet and very sticky. You need your shoes on as your socks get wet without them. The carpet needs to be replaced, it's disgusting! My feet got wet when I went to the bathroom in the middle of the night. Then when I got up the next morning the alarm clock was blinking and the microwave had no time on it. I went down to the main desk to tell the woman at the desk. When I told her I got no apology and a crabby answer when I asked what happened. "I don't know. The whole building lost power!" She was very rude and unprofessional. I won't be staying there again.

I stay pretty often, every three months or so as my brother lives in town. Coming from WI, I can’t always predict my arrival time. They’re always accommodating whether I’m early or late. They know me well and always have a nice room with good running air con (medically needed). I’ve gotten to know the staff and Chloe, the adorable Chihuahua! You couldn’t ask for a better location and although I could stay anywhere in town or Clear Lake, I’m extremely happy with this Days Inn.

They are AMAZING. Great service the front desk was very helpful with everything we needed. The truck died and we need a jump a very friendly maintenance man that worked there was happy to offered to help us. They even let us go back to our room to wait so we would not have to be in the snow and cold after we had already checked out. I can not say enough how nice,helpful and friendly everyone was. The room was great also it was very nice cleaning.I bought my lab pit mix with us and they were very nice about me having a bigger breed dog there(and wanted to keep her lol) They are AMAZING.

We actually stayed one night on the trip to our final destination and one night on our way back home.Beds both times were comfortable, but the air conditioner in the first room seemed better than that in the second room. The second room was on the ground floor while the first room was on the second floor. The second room seemed humid.

They'll charge you an extra 10$ a night if you have a pet, which is ridiculous, because it's pretty obvious the smell and state of the rooms are the way they are because of people. I'm pretty sure it's just the owner who tacks on the extra, as i think she was operating the front desk. Ive been here a few times and have never been charged for a pet by anyone else. I won't be coming back.

Two stars are for cleanliness and amenities... bedding, towels bathroom, smell was very good. Amenities: free parking, very small microwave, fridge, small coffee pot, ice machine, single person fitness room, breakfast area...The rest is just... They seem to make the best of the budget. They are in dire need of a makeover. Old decor, soiled/stained chairs and carpeting, burn holes in the blankets, noise levels (sandwiched between two families with more than two kids, people coming and going all night and room next to parking lot).It's an indoor motel, not a hotel.

Friendly staff. Easy check in process. Although not sure why it’s necessary to make a photo copy of guests’ drivers licenses? No staff were wearing face masks. I wore a face mask and received strange looks?? Sheets & towels nice and clean. Room carpets are dark & feel quite grimy/gunky, as if they’ve been sprayed/shampooed often, but never fully rinsed clean? Sink faucets need updating- they’re slightly rusted and cracked. The biggest issue I had was the side-sliding room window with no lock. Being on the first floor, anyone could easily cut the screen and slide open the room window with ease. This was really unnerving and felt unsafe. Also, don’t ever look behind any framed pictures or mirrors. I made the mistake of looking behind a large framed wall mirror. (Room 112) The entire section of wall behind the mirror was streaked with the spray of old, dried urine. Housecleaning must have neglected to wash behind the framed mirror. If old, dried streaks of urine are left hidden behind picture frames, what’s being left to hide in the grimy green carpets??? Next time, I will probably just sleep in my car, or pay an extra $60 for a different hotel!

I've stayed here a couple of times and the location is great with stores and restaurants all around in walking distance. Rooms have been just fine, clean. Staff helpful. Only complaint is there is an entrance besides the main one that I like to use but it's never locked. Construction/city workers hang around, and I've seen presumably homeless families sitting in cars that definitely looked like they live in them. I definitely think that side entrance should be locked and room-key open only.

Really nice , quiet, and safe Great Management very sweet and professional,hubby & I drove down from Seattle WA trying to get back home to Florida, the only thing was ,we had a room with only AC No Heat in Rm#131 during April 2022 ,it was still cold,we were so tired it didn't even matter the woman at the front desk tried to tell me how to work it but like I stated it didn't matter anymore lol , they offer Continental Breakfast ,we couldn't stay however it smelled so good . Price $76 plus tax Not bad at all! Totally Recommend 👍

This place was just okayOverall the room kinda felt dirty ...................especially the carpets on my bare feet.They do clean them because I saw the maid vacuuming and cleaning other rooms when I was in the hallway.Maybe they need new carpets because the ones in the hallway were very clean.And they go way overboard spraying odor neutralizing spray to try and hide any smells.Almost so much as to give you a headache.As for the breakfast it is not as good as some other places we have stayed.There are some honey buns and bread to make toast as well as some yogurts in the fridge.And some cold egg patties in the fridge too.But no bacon or sausage or gravy and there are no bagels which they are my go to motel breakfast so I was slightly disappointed to see that.In the morning as we were leaving to get back to work and were scheduled to be there at 7amWe forgot our pillows and they key in the room.When we went to the desk to get a new one we were surprised to see that nobody was there!Like no staff in the building at all.She had left to drive another staff person home and left the hotel completely unattended to do that.Was crazy to me!What if there had been an emergency like a fire or we had needed back in the room for an emergency like medication or something.But the lady at the desk was very nice to us and apologized many times.It made us late by over an hour returning to work though.We would probably go back to the super 8 next time as the rooms were much higher quality and much cleaner.

Was informed the only room available was a "smoking" room. And there was no ac. Needed a room for the night, so chose to take it, and was offered a fan, and a discount for cash.Upon entering the room, I observed the toilet seat was broken, informed front desk, and was repaired right away.Also observed the ac unit was missing from the wall cabinet, inside the cabinet, were the remains of a mud daubers nest.Also observed hair on the wall in the shower, and what appeared to be a drop of blood on the floor in front of the sink. The carpet was dirty enough, the bottom of my feet were black by the time I showered.I would not recommend this Days Inn to anyone.

The staff was nice enough but since this place still has maybe a third to a half of its rooms as smoking rooms, the whole building reeks. The room was clean. Single rooms don't have a fridge and microwave and are very small with God awful red decor. The breakfast was pretty weak. I did like that the heating system allows the fan to be turned on constantly (for white noise) while running the heat.

Ok. I had a late reservation & a late check in (last minute decision to not drive home). Thanks to the clerk who waited for me to arrive...but she burped as she was checking me in. Granted, she did excuse herself, but, my goodness. The room was quite small and needs some minor repair work. The walls are very thin, so if you need quiet, this will not do! Not many outlets to use. But I was exhausted, and I got some much needed sleep. It would be ok to sleep here again, but not good for much else. I will say, it is a great location, close to the hospital and some great restaurants, and right on the central street. NOT worth the price I paid.

This isn't a place for someone who prefers comfort over price. The beds are hard as a rock and the floors feel as if someone has taken a water hose to them. The linens are outdated, the bath towels are as rough as sand paper and everything smells. All of the plug ins don't work and they refused to give me a fridge even though i called to be sure one was available. I was told id have to pay $20 more a night to have a fridge in my room. I just wouldn't stay here for an extended stay trip or if you are worried about cleanliness. If you're strapped for cash id recommend it for that very reason and that reason alone.

Friendly check in. Quiet clean room. Breakfast was good with enough choices. Waffles were really good, better than the rubbery pancakes at other places. Clerk recommended family dinner restaurant and we weren't disappointed. Not sure where other reviewers stayed but would recommend this Days Inn.
