I traveled out of town to three places this past January to help out with inventories. This Holiday Inn was, by far, my absolute favorite!! I believe I heard that it’s new, so that was nice. The room had a great and comfortable king size bed, a chaise lounge, an adjustable height side table, a large bathroom, and a very nice desk area. I didn’t want to check out! Such a great place!

The only door hanger in my room says "Not ready yet". I see a hanger on someone else's door that says "Hang on. I'm busy." Neither of which implies that I don't want room service. Never the less, I put out the hanger thinking if I left it on the door all day they wouldn't do room service but they did anyway. I don't want or need anyone in my room and now I have to wonder if they intentionally ignored the hanger to come in and look for stuff to steal. Now I have to go through all my stuff and try to figure out if anything came up missing.How about we go back to one plainly worded door hanger and teach your staff to abide by them???Otherwise no complaints.

My boyfriend and I had car issues and had to get our truck fixed. We didn't know we couldn't check into our hotel until 3pm and the staff at the Holiday Inn were incredible and let us use the pool and the lobby prior to checking in. They even let us store our bags behind the counter. Due to our car issues, we had to stay here for several days. When it was time to check out at 11am, the staff allowed me to continue to use the lobby and the outdoor patio so that I could work. We stayed in the lobby until about 3pm and they even offered to let me use the microwave since we didn't have the car back yet and no way to get food. The location itself is nice and we were able to walk to most places within 10-30 minutes. I cannot say enough how amazing and accommodating the staff were. The rooms were super clean, cute, and comfy.Nearby activities: Movie theatre, restaurants down the streetFood & drinks: Breakfast was great. Hot breakfast and a lot of variety.

Was beyond satisfied! The hotel, the rooms, and the grounds were super clean, well maintained and in order.The staff was incredibly nice and professional.They had an amazing breakfast with lots of options to choose from. I never saw a single person, staff or guest, that was not smiling and cheerful!This is now a first choice for me!

I want to say Tiffany is awesome. My room was nice and clean. Also the breakfast was very good hot, different options. This is probably one of the best hotels I have ever had! Definitely will be back. Thank you again.

This is the best place in Marshalltown! We had to stay in town for a week and the staff (literally ALL of them!) went out of their way to make our stay comfortable. The service and value were outstanding. Breakfast, the pool, the gym, the comfy beds….can’t beat the overall experience at this hotel.

Great Place! The receptionist was very polite and patient. The room itself was very clean. I stayed in the one king sized bedroom. I stayed there during the day hours due to having worked the night before and needed a place to stay due to a snow storm. The room had black out curtains that worked better than I have ever seen! The room felt like it was night time even though it was mid day. The walls were nice and thick, no sound traveled through. If I had a complaint it would be that there TV guide was a bit of a pain to use. Not that big of a deal to me. The complementary breakfast was tasty. They had two kinds of omlets and a place to make your own pancakes. The attendee for the breakfast area was very polite and made sure that I had everything I needed. I highly recommend this hotel.

Checked into this fairly new hotel. Was excited to stay here. Was disappointed in the decor , room felt cold and just not comfy and cozy. We stayed three nights. We had only been given three towels, one wash cloth and two hand towels for a two bed suite. Second night stay our room never got serviced, we came back to in made beds, dirty towels and garbage. I called downstairs and they apologized but only offered to bring us up some towels. Once again we were handed two bath towels and one wash cloth. Beds are comfortable, room and service were not the best.

I thought a hotel that was just built would be a little nicer. Everything seems somewhat cheaply done. Also the exhaust fan in the bathroom never goes off for some reason. The beds are very comfortable and the TVs are great. Also there is a Keurig in the room. Lighting and decor could be a little more inviting.

7/20/18-- I am staying here with my husband and 2 children. We are staying here for 4 days because a tornado completely destroyed our neighborhood last night. Today happens to be my son's 1st Birthday. I asked the front desk if we could use the front lobby tonight for me, my husband and 2 kids to eat pizza and cake for my baby's birthday. They said no. I asked if we could possibly just sit at the breakfast tables if the conference room is busy, and she replied, "I couldn't allow that since it's only for breakfast."All we wanted were some tables to eat at. This is my reasoning for giving 1 star. That and the pool is not open either.**Edit-7/22/18I am changing my review to a 4 now. The day -time manager was the one who said we couldn't have our babies birthday dinner at the table and chairs downstairs, but when second shift came, the manager let us eat there and was exceptionally nice. Came and said happy birthday to our son. Very friendly. Also, the hotel is very nice compared to other hotels in Marshalltown . If the pool weren't out of order, id give 5 stars even though no one came to clean our room for 3 days. But, they were completely booked up due to the natural disaster here. So, that's understandable that house keeping was busy those days. Also, has a nice gym.

Hotel was great in February 2020. Recently opened (late 2018 after the Marshalltown tornado), it had all the new feel and smell and everything was great.Due to damage from the August 2020 derecho that went unrepaired, the hotel is currently closed for a complete refurbishment. Reopening date is unknown at this time.

Nice hotel. The pool is small but it was not otherwise occupied so that didn't matter. The complimentary breakfast had a good selection including Turkey sausage and egg white omelets.

Stayed here to get out of the heat. (No electricity at home because of bad storm)The entrance to get to the building from the road is not marked so had to call the hotel to find out how to get there.They were very nice at check in. Had a storm during the night and the roof leaked but they had garbage cans out right away to not make a mess. I would stay here again

Nice clean Holiday Inn. Plenty of food close by (fast or set down) and an average price for the room. Friendly staff and plenty of parking. There is a gas station right outside the lot and a Walmart less than 5min away. I highly suggest!

I travel to Iowa for work... as a nurse.. every morning at 2am my card would be charged.. until I just took all my money out my account. It racked up charges and they REFUSE to give my money back.. The “manger” refuses to even return my calls.. corporate is no help at all... I refuse to stay in anymore of their properties.. worst experience ever!
