This place is AWESOME—and refreshing to visit if you’re used to a big chain pet store. I have been researching and shopping for tarantulas for my daughter for a little while. I visited several pet stores in the area and none of them had knowledge about spiders. Even worse, they weren’t even properly keeping them, as is pretty common with places like that.Anyway, I decided to check out Home Grown Pets. I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the man at the counter owned tarantulas and that he had a lot of experience and knowledge. He was able to answer every question I had and I decided to purchase one right then and there. The way they are kept here in comparison to other places is WORLDS better. The spiders are kept in the right type of enclosure and are fed a variety of things. The price was reasonable and far less than other places I shopped. They sent me with a tank and everything in it for a great bundle price and we are LOVING having this pet so far—I see more in our future.Thanks for the great experience! I wish more places were ethical and knowledgeable like the folks are at Home Grown Pets.

This place is amazing!! I go here when I need items for my rabbits. They have top of the line product and are very knowledgeable. Not only have I brought products from this place but I also brought all 4 of my rabbits from this place as well. If it wasn't for them, I wouldn't have my lovely animals

I really enjoyed my first visit to homegrown pets. They have a variety of small pets including birds , reptiles, ferrets and guinea pigs. They also had some fish. It is a rather large warehouse style setup. And they had a couple of birds who run free in the area. The staff was a very helpful. They did not have exactly what I was looking for but they were able to suggest a suitable alternative. The prices are reasonable and I will definitely be visiting again.

Actually the best pet shop. The people who work there are the KINDEST, sweetest people and so helpful and intelligent! 👌🏼They have the BEST bug selection for reptiles, lots of healthy choices of geckos and snakes and other reptiles!!

Quite possibly the most rude and uncomfortable customer service. We traveled quite a ways to visit this place, and the girl would never bother to look at me, instead looked at my wife when answering all of my questions, and was generally more interested in selling than answering.. I've got a biology and animal science background, working with herps for decades, as a career, so I might be more particular than some about things, but this was just silly to me... It was easy to not spend any money in there after a few tries. Went in to literally spend an obscene amount of money in supplies and herps and inverts, and just got stopped short at every turn. Maybe we'll be back, but as a general rule, 1st time is usually the charm. Not a bad place, but just expect a poor professional atmosphere.

It was a great experience even though I wasn't shopping. I just took my son to see and learn about different animals. I do come there to buy feeder fish and aquatic plants regularly.

I have had several parrots in the past bought directly from the breeder who knew what they were doing. They started hand-feeding their parrots at three weeks, making it easier for the birds to bond with humans. In just a matter of days, the bird would come to us and after a week or so would fly out and land on my head.My daughter recently gave us a Green Quaker Parrot we were thrilled at having a parrot again, but after 2 months of hand feeding the bird still backs away from me unless I have food in my hand.Paying $600 for a bird is a lot of money, but paying $600 for a bird not raised properly is outrageous and unethical for the breeder.RESPONSE ADDED:It would be a two-hour roundtrip to bring the bird and the bird would just backup when trying to get it.I could add a video, but what else would be learned than what I said?

We have had the best luck with hampters that are take and not aggressive and they keep good supply of dog and cat food for our other furry pets

They offer a wide array of products, from food to medicine all the way to animals. They even had plants. It was our first time in the store, and you could tell we weren't sure where we were going. It would have been nice to have been greeted when we entered and asked if we needed help. There were 2 employees working, and at least one was behind the counter when we walked in and when we checked out. Great store otherwise.

During my visit to this pet store upon entering the odor was above normal for a pet store and employee was very rude and loud with me when I was looking at the snakes because I was attempting to handle.when the employee approached me she was very loud with he people skills and I didn't like it but thought maybe she didn't realize she did it I came in to buy some frozen feeders for my snake and decided to take my business else where due to her poor people skills so when I told her I decided not to buy there products she again was very loud with her words and made me feel uncomfortable needless to say I'll never return again

My two best friends, Valentine and Penelope, came from Home Grown Pets. The staff loves all their animals as their own and care for them as their own until they find them a perfect home. This store was highly recommended to me for this reason. They also carry food for pets that is all natural and untouched by commercial-based products. I will always go back to them.

Love the assortment of reptiles they have!I’ve been a few times and have been disappointed by a lady? Apart of the staff? She’s extremely rude. For example I said I needed some crickets and she snapped back saying how she was busy doing an order and to ask someone else lol.Definitely does not make me want to come back to this store. Not very welcoming.

I used to own a chinchilla and would like to own one again. This is where I bought my first one and this will be the place I buy my next one, whenever that will be I don't know.Great place, go check it out!

I love this place so much! The staff are all friendly and knowledgeable and I love coming in because they remember me and my lizards and ask about them. Better than any chain pet store in my opinion.

Anytime I come in staff is very nice and helpful. Purchased a ferret. A couple months ago very pleased. Had been calling for weeks and was told it was a wait to get another one, which was fine, today we called and was told they had some in (great) we get to the store was greeted by savannah which was very rude attitude from the point I had to ask her was she having a bad day!! Very confused 😐 She begin to tell us who did we talk to when we called and started the girl only worked part time so she wouldn’t know. Still confused as to why we are getting the treatment and rudeness that we have never gotten before. She reminded us that she was the manager and it was a waiting list for someone that wanted a ferret from April 4th it’s now apirl 15th, which we also was on a waiting list as well. I will personally Never enter the store again!! “Savanna the manager Needs to learn how to talk to All customers and deal with All customers even if she is having a bad day. We did not deserve the treatment we got😐

I bought a biOrb fish tank and love it. They are very knowledgeable and helpful. They also helped me with a crisis I had with setting up my tank. I highly recommend them.

Been here several times. The fish selection is hit or miss, but the java moss is always lush and green. Unique variety of seachem products. Some harder to find animals like chinchillas and axolotls can be found here. The containers for the bettas and axolotls are cruel and should be much bigger. Prices are a bit higher than big box stores but they have high quality products.

I miss and love this little shop. They offer a really big selection of all types of small animals, fish and birds. They offer tons of different decor for fish and reptile tanks. Pet food, cages and live small feeder insects. Their prices are reasonable and better than the big chains. I would choose them over any other pet shop.

Ehhh, it's OK I guess. Expensive though. Fish selection isn't the greatest imo.Ignore the review of Brienna B!! Tried to return items because of buyers remorse and that she had OBVIOUSLY used. Not to many places accept returns on used items and because of buyers remorse. What is a store, especially a pet store, supposed to do with somebody's used items!?!?!? Know your spending limits people, bills come first and then pet supplies and equipment!!!

I wanted to support a local business rather than going to Petco or Petsmart. But I was quite disappointed with customer service of how the owner handled a situation I had. I had bought products here and due to some circumstances I had to bring everything I had bought back 3 days later. I had explained my situation to a couple of the employees (who were very nice and understanding) but in order to return the products I bought they had to call the owner to verify the products could be returned for a refund. I was then told the owner told her nothing could be returned and I would not be able to get my money back, even with having a receipt. **In no place does anything say all sales final!**A few of the items had been briefly used in the 3 days and some items not even opened yet (over $200 in products). I was very upset that I am now stuck with items I do not need. It’s upsetting when customer service is terrible. If I would’ve known this would of been the policy then I never would have given my business to this guy. When you can go to Petco or Petsmart and be able to return items within the matter of 14-30 days with your receipt for a refund. I would definitely steer my business away from here.

I am a bird owner for several years and I enjoy going into the pet stores and getting to know the birds temperament by petting the head of the bird and see how bird reacts but I was so rudely told no I have germs on my hands that I will pass onto the birds. I have rescued a pair of love birds cause they were there for over a year and price stayed the same. A parrolet because it was skinny, beak over grown and was there over a year and want a large money for a bird that he owner did not want because she would not breed for him. This place is the worst the care of the animals is poor and only want the money not the care of the animals. I have seen employees treat animals the wrong way. This place needs to be shut down and animals rehomed to a group that will take care of them. My rating is negitive and will not spend another dollar in this store.

Not a super great selection when it comes to habitat decorations, enclosures for the pets that are for sale aren’t ideal and need to be cleaned more often. Why 5 stars? Because as far as pet stores go this place is really good and has great customer service! I will always go here if they’ve got what I need as opposed to pet smart/co

These people are true gems!! They don't care if you're there to buy stuff or not. They just want to help you and you're pets!! I make sure I go there first for my reptile needs because of how great they have been. They haven't ever acted like my questions are dumb either. They are so so so so AMAZING!!!!!!!

Great store with a wonderful selection of items! The only reason I'm likely not to return is because almost everything lacks a price and even staff are unsure of pricing. I don't want to ask the price of everything I'm interested in and have to wait for it to be searched and outside staff called (exactly what happened when the two working didn't know price and unable to look up an item) so we purchased our main item that sent us there and shopped PetSmart/Petco for the remainder of our fish supplies. I hope things are priced in the future as I could see it a fun store to return to..
