I love this place. Locally owned by good people. Good prices on most things, like feeders, live animals, and some supplies. They also trade and sell supplies, like tanks and cages.Great place for birds, fish both fresh and saltwater, and rodents. They're a little lacking in terms of live reptiles, but they have an excellent supply of feeder rodents, live and dead, and insects.

We love the Fish Shack! The people are very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The fish are of good quality and you save a lot of money shopping here, rather than the big chain stores. We've never had a problem with sick fish after switching to them for our fish purchases.

Excellent service, great animals, amazing place! The Fish Shack is the best place to purchase pets and pet items! The employees and Bill are very knowledgeable and explain pet care thoroughly. The prices are also incredible and compare greatly to other stores like it. All animals I've seen (reptiles, fish, amphibians, birds, etc..) have been greatly taken care of. Always wanted a salt water tank and thought it was too hard. Bill had great advice and got me up and running. Had the tank now 15+ years and I always buy my supplies from Bill. He has great advice is very knowledgeable about what will and won't work together in a tank and how to keep the tank running and looking great. Is very cost effective and you get all his great knowledge to be successful. Still enjoy the tank after 15+ years. Thank you Bill.

It’s not a bad place, it has good people. But they don’t were masks and the shop is in bad condition. The fish tanks are covered in muck and in crowded tanks there are many dead. They sell rodents in horrible cages. Birds are stacked on top of each other and cages don’t seem very clean. The only fish tanks that are inherently small are circular which aren’t great for fish. They also don’t sell live plants for tanks which are good for fish. Everything is covered in dust and spiderwebs. They really just need to deep clean.

I’ve done business here for years. It’s a small shop but they are very well priced. You can sell to them and find second hand items here for less that work fantastic. The owner will order specific items for you if you ask also. They treat you like family, I would recommend stopping in.

Bill is the most knowledgable and helpful person when it comes to aquarium set up and/or maintenance. This week he refurbished and made usable a canister filter I bought from him 11 years ago that was leaking, and it runs like it was new again, and all of his prices will beat any of the chain stores. Absolutely LOVE them !!!! Suzy is such a wonderful woman !!! She took in my snake after our home was destroyed in the storm Aug 2020 and treated him like he was her own. She sent me pictures and kept me updated on his eating habits. I wasnt charged room and board just only for his feedings!!!! I'm beyond thankful for her and the owner !!! Highly recommended!!!!

Great place, the kind of pet store that deserves your business. Example: I bought some items there but forgot an aquarium light behind. Bill was actually going to make a special trip an hour out of his way just to bring it to me! Enuf said. What i like most is you can tell the fish & small animals they carry are much higher quality than your run of the mill pet store. Keep up the good work Fish Shack! A+++

Bill has been in buisness for many years. He use to have a store in Dubuque, IA too that was awsome. I bought my Sun Coure from Bill 10 years ago and with Bill's help and knowledge my Tyn-Tyn is happy and helathy. He is always there if you habe any question or concerns and knows his breeders so all of his animals are healthy. Love this place!

Great pet shop. One of the few pet shop that sells used equipment as well as new. Fish are well cared for and although the selection is not huge the prices are great and occasionally there are some gems available. For example the last time I was in they were selling Paralabidochromis chromogynos (Black Piebald Cichlids) males for $8.99. I have seen them for $17.99 and higher at other shops.
