Took a stray tomcat in. He was a super nice cat, but I couldn't keep him. The staff there was amazing. Kind, understanding. Had hopes he could find a home, but he was too sick. Even though he was a stray, they took the time to call and talk to me. I really appreciated that.

I cannot say enough about this shelter and its volunteers. They have taken in ferrel cats that I have found suffering ....they nursed them to health and found them their forever homes. Doesn't matter if it is day or night they always respond and put their whole heart into helping anyone. I recently adopted the love of my life there and I couldn't be happier with the whole adoption process. Needless to say it was my first rescue and the way they handled it was top notch. I absolutely love all of these selfless people who give their time, heart and energy into saving the lives and providing good homes to all of the animals that would otherwise be forgotten. Thank you Christina and staff....you are true heros.

Awesome work every time I bring my dogs there. They know exactly what thier doing and love to do it. Dr.kelly actually saved my dog who was mauled and did a fantastic job at fixing him up. Absolutely love going here!!

I’ve never adopted from this shelter, but I follow them all the time.I cannot believe such a small town shelter is so dedicated to the welfare of animals.! I spent many a summer in Woodbine as a youngster on my Aunt Amy’s Brunow’s farm after my mom passed.I know live in Council Bluffs I only wish it had half the resources you have such as feral cat programs. I have a self storage business in a commercial zoned area every week it seems like we see a new cat that someone has dumped adding to the problem we already have. Inbreeding, disease, and hunger goes along with unmanaged feral cat colonies. Council Bluffs just gives you a warning if feed as in cold winters. Hard to to believe a tiny town Woodbine does such an amazing, awesome jobTruly proud and thankful for the great people that sacrifice time and money of the Woodbine Shelter ❤️ Judy Brunow

Although they do a great job, I just have to share a story... So they've had this beautiful 2 yr old heeler. I met her 3 weeks ago, the day she got there, and fell in love with her. I was told I would have to wait until she was fixed. Then I was told they had a list of people wanting a dog like her. Here we are 3 weeks later.. Somebody might come tomorrow who has 40 acres of land and hopefully! they'll want her. Meanwhile, I have a huge yard, live a block from a dog park, have had a blue heeler in the past. I know their temperaments and needs. No one has ever accused me of anything but spoiling my pets. Not to mention, we are working on getting a place in the country. Before I was told about the waiting list (a week after I was told I only had to wait for her to get fixed), I already went and bought her a new harness, leash, bed, toys, oral hygiene stuff, etc. And still she sits in a cage. They're still working on that list of people. 3 weeks later. And here I am ready, willing, and able.

Much needed service for Harrison County. They do amazing on a tight budget. All the people who are involved in the day to day care are volunteers. There are NO paid employees.
