A must stop when rolling thru Iowa on I-80. Take Exit 173, head North to the Amoco Gas Station and you can take advantage of 3 great values. 1st of course is the “Iowa’s Best Burger Cafe”. Fantastic food, quick service, nostalgic atmosphere, and a friendly staff makes this a memorable stop. 2nd is the Amoco Gas Station. Since BP reintroduced the famous red, white and blue themed building and pumps, plus the diesel fuel was .20 cents a gallon cheaper than Des Moines! 3rd is the Kellogg RV Campground, reasonably priced, full hookups and pull thru sites.Squeeze in the time to stop here, whether you were out this way for the World’s Largest Wooden Nickel or the World’s Largest Truckstop!

Pretty cool little stop. Enough room for a few big trucks so I had to stop. Being a burger connoisseur I just had to see if it really is Iowa’s best burger. It’s definitely top 5. I would give it a 8.9 on the one bite rating system. I opted for the 1/2 lb cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickle. The burger to bun ratio was perfect since I went with the big one. The crinkle cut fries are always a plus. It’s something about these little joints that always make the food better. Getting a milkshake is like icing on the cake. In the words of the Terminator “I’ll be back!” 😎 🍔 🍟 🥤

Shrimp for dinner tonight, (normally Friday nights for us) at Iowa's Best Burger Cafe, gas station and campgrounds, located on I-80 at the Kellogg exit, just a few minutes East of Newton. In fact it's only 9 minutes from my driveway to theirs. The service is always fast and friendly, with a relaxed atmosphere. It really doesn't matter what you order, everything they offer is off the charts in goodness. I never in my life thought I would ever eat shrimp at a gas station but this cafe is clearly the exception. Our meals have been consistently superb each and every time for the last 40 or so visits. I've eaten their tenderloins and hamburgers, fries and the other sides and again they are always consistently excellent, knocking it out of the park each and every time. The western salad dressing is made in house and so tasty (way better than store bought) I purchased a bottle for home use. Just ate a burger Thursday and used their new in house made Best Burger Sauce, to say that was awesome would be a huge understatement, am going to ask If if they will sell me a bottle of that for when I grill burgers at home. This is one of our very favorites when we are hungry which is often, prices are quite reasonable as well.If your hungry or even if your not I give Iowa's Best Burger Cafe my highest recommendation. We totally love this place and its owner and staff.

Stopped here randomly on a cross country drive with the family. Delicious food with clean building and bathrooms. They have some deli sandwiches, gas station snacks, healthier options as well, friendly staff, and really delicious burgers and fries! Inside and outdoor seating available. There is a tornado shelter just off the gas pump area.

This small café was easily accessible from the highway, was clean, and made food fresh. The staff was friendly. They also had a small convenience store, RV campground, picnic tables, and a reasonably priced gas station. I would visit again and recommend.

Not sure what the "Bathroom Aficionado Erin" came across but when I walked in the restroom to wash my hands, I found nothing but clean. There was no urine smell or small cramped RV space. Restroom was extremely clean at 6:30 p.m. Maybe Erin needs new glasses.And the burgers sure as hell weren't a M%D#@*^&s burger. The burgers were prefab indeed but in a good way. They had good flavor, were quite juicy and quite hot. The hotdogs and polish sausage came out just as hot. Really liked tge Wisconsin Cheese soup too.Along with some garlic mushrooms, cauliflower, cheese curds and corn nuggets, we had a really good burger dinner. Was greeted in a kind manner with a smiling face and food came out pretty quick, within 7 to 10 minutes. Would recommend stopping in for some quick, tasty vittles and friendly folks.

Quaint burger diner! Quick service, friendly staff.Despite what some have posted about the restrooms, they were very clean and well kept.I particularly enjoyed reading owner responses to some of the moronish negative posts!People have unrealistc expectations. Owner is my kind of guy!

I chose a 1/4 # without a bun, but with lettuce, tomatoe, pickle, onion, and a side of slaw. Burger was hot, fresh, and wonderfully tasty. The slaw was fresh, crispy, and delicious! Staff was friendly and service was prompt. I would have enjoyed eating outside, but didn't see that as an option. Definitely worth the stop!Dietary restrictions: I'm gluten-free, so I chose a burger with NO BUN. It was arranged well in a sandwich carry-out container along with a knife and fork. Well presented, and delicious!

Just left Iowa's Best Burger Cafe in Kellogg, IA. We had one of the best burgers we have had in a long long time. Quite a few area people also dining,, so it must be good. Love the old cafe atmosphere. Next time we are traveling down I80, we are looking forward to stopping here again.

HORRENDOUS BATHROOMS - We stopped for food, but upon seeing the state of the bathrooms, we quickly realized that if the bathrooms were *THIS* bad, the kitchen most likely was too. The unisex bathrooms were like little RV stalls. The smell of urine was overwhelming and permeating…since it was a tiny, sealed room, it was intense! There was gunk dripping down the bottom of the toilet bowl, liquid around the base of the toilet (that I could only assume was pee or fluid the toilet was leaking). It was dark and dank. The sink was treacherous. Honestly, the amount of SLUDGE built up around the faucet really could only indicate that it NEVER gets cleaned. If a business cares so little about their bathrooms, it goes to assume they don’t follow proper sanitation protocols in the kitchen. Needless to say, we didn’t stay to find out. In all of our travels, this ranked up there with the top 3 nastiest bathrooms I’ve seen. I would have taken a picture, but I did not want to risk pulling my phone out and dropping it.

This place is amazing / checks all the boxes - friendly, reasonable price and delicious!! We live in Des Moines EVERY TIME we are near we stop - EVERY TIME! I have a t shirt - wore it to Aruba and a man at the airport recognized it and commented. (He lives in Aruba and ate a burger here while in the states). ❤️ 🍔

I was pleasantly surprised that this little stop connected to a gas station actually had really good food! We got burgers (of course we had to given the name) and tried the mac n cheese wedges. Both really good. We also got the breaded mushrooms and really liked the garlic in the breading. So glad we didn’t go to a fast food joint and feel lousy all day, this was 100 x better!

2 stars only because price is fair and service is great. Sadly we were disappointed with the food. I wish we knew they were frozen hamburgers before we ordered, we'd have gone elsewhere. We don't eat frozen patties or really processed food so 90% of all 4 meals went to waste. They don't taste like beef at all and have no seasoning that we noticed. Given the claim that this is Iowa's best burgers we'll wait until we get to Nebraska tomorrow to eat again. If frozen food is not an issue than give them a try and decide for yourself, they're just not for us. Form your own opinion.

Talk about a made up name Iowa Best Burger I have tried it twice unless your starving pass on it. I was going to give it a third try but they can’t even keeps their hours up to date on their website. Plus the whole place really is not very clean. No wonder the food is not very good. Hard to make good food in a dirty kitchen. Stay away far away.

We loved our burgers and we camped with full hookups for $31. They told me that someone needing just an RV dump can do so for $10. The campground was cute and relaxing.
