This is our second time visiting Yotty's. This time as well as the first was positive and yummy. I got an Oreo 'Blizzard' and it was good... good... good! I'm a slow ice cream eater and drive my wife nuts, but I don't care, it was so good. We sat on a bench and ate our ice cream after we got it. It's hard to separate the different businesses from Kalona overall as the community is so close knit. We love coming here, and we love the ice cream at Yotty's.

Ice cream is about the same as every other ice cream place, but the woman making the ice cream is the rudest service industry person we’ve ever encountered. We had a toddler who was being difficult, and stepped aside to settle him down for less than a minute when the woman called out 1/3 of our order, and when it took my 15 seconds to come around the corner to pick it up, she made a snarky comment about “walking away from the window and losing it.” Then my wife grabbed another one immediately after, turned to give it to our son, and the woman yelled out the last part of our order, and starting “counting it down” as if she would have withheld the order we paid for because we didn’t adhere to her unspoken rules/instructions. This was our first time in this town after moving to the area, and we will never be back to this place, where they need to learn how to be just as patient as they expect their customers to be while waiting in line. They also screwed part of our order up.

My previous review on here had 5 stars and said "Great place to go". I am now editing, after a negative experience last night. I feel awful to even say it because Yotty's Ice Cream Shop holds a special place in my heart since I worked there for years not long after it first opened, but this experience was just shocking!My family wanted to go visit the shop after supper, since it was a nice warm evening, and we knew it wouldn't be open much longer into the Fall. I looked them up on Google and saw that the hours said they were open until 8pm. We went into town and saw it was a popular place, as normal, and there was a large group outside the shop, finishing up their ordering, so we got into the line. At around five minutes after 7, we walked up to the window to order and I noticed the hours said they closed at 7pm. Although, I thought they closed later, I knew how that felt when people continued coming before there was a chance to close, so I kindly told her "I apologize. I thought you closed at 8pm, since that's what it said online." The response I received was shocking and totally threw me off. Afterwards, all I could utter was a slow okaaay. In a sassy and annoyed voice, I was told "Please don't believe everything you see online". While this is good advice, I was hoping that my small town ice cream shop would have the integrity to say "I'm sorry. We should have updated that." Needless to say, our ordering was a little tense and when my young son didn't know what he wanted right away, he was told he needed to "decide quickly or she would shut the window" (in a completely serious tone). I read him the kinds of ice cream and thankfully he decided quickly. I held it together and was so glad to get our food and get out of there. I will be a little nervous from now on, but hope to return to better experiences. If you want customers to have accurate information, I would suggest keeping the hours updated on Google. Not doing so, could also work to your disadvantage, if it says you close earlier (so that's what everyone thinks), so they don't come and you lose customers. Despite it being frustrating, had I been her, I would have appreciated bringing in more money for the shop, as the line continued for a while after we went through and others also believed they closed later.

The butterscotch malts are fantastic , in fact, all of their malts and shakes are fantastic. They don't skimp on the syrup and don't charge extra if you ask for an extra shot of flavoring. My dog loves their vanilla ice cream, as well.

Good soft serve selections and the kalona bars are always a treat. Always a nice treat during the hot summer evenings. Inside seating is very limited but still nice and relaxing spot for locals and visitors to meet and mingle with some ice cream

Small shop, great service and wonder tasty ice cream. Pretty cheap too! The cone design was very pretty as well. The only problem might be that the shop has limited sitting inside. The walls contained some nice witty banter as well! (e.g.: teach your kids about taxes. Eat 30% of their ice cream).

They sold me melted ice cream. I couldn't eat it. Got all over my arms, clothes, car, etc. They didn't care and said there was nothing they could do and that's how it is... I know this isn't true because a week prior I had absolutely delicious (maybe even the best I've ever had) frozen ice cream there. Maybe it depends on the night or who is working. You could either get great ice cream or a mediocre bowl of ice cream flavored milk. It's kinda like a game of Russian roulette just with dairy. Best of luck!

Cash only. Local ice cream shop open during the summer. We love the soft serve cones that they mix the candy in with. Not a lot of seating inside, but plenty of benches outside. Try the peanut butter shake & KitKat cone.

They have a great menu to choose from, there's a reason why the lines are long at times, definitely worth the wait when they are busy, sometimes I'm not even hungry for ice cream, but if I'm driving by & there's little to no line, I'm stopping!

I have never had a bad experience with the treats from Yotty’s. Absolutely love the Oreo cone and the peach is one of my favorite flavors. Affordable prices, friendly staff, and fast service. I just wish Yotty’s was open year round!

Great lil shop! More than generous portions, they had a line out the door but the 3 girls working moved people through quickly. The ice cream was excellent!

We only got soft serve, but the portions were huge. Hard to go wrong with a twist cone. Looking forward to trying some of their homemade bars next time

I have had two great experiences with the younger staff, but the middle aged women(possibly owner?) Has been rude to me on two different occasions, first giving me lessons on what a proper sundae consists of and what I was ordering was not one, and then asking me what the magic word was for a spoon! I will be going to Korner Kreamery from now on.

Yottys Ice cream is a good place to stop by. I was on a bike ride and took a break here. They have great ice cream and great prices. If you're in Kalona in the summer, you should stop by.

The truckstop in Ainsworth sells Yottys old fashion ice cream bars, boy are they tasty. Wish I lived nearby and was able to visit the ice cream shop.

I missed the ice cream but there's a very good hardware store called Yotty's Hardware on this corner of downtown Kolona. If you have an antique piece of spattered enamelware and wonder where a person might ever buy more new, the answer is Yotty's Hardware. It's a joy to browse such a well-stocked hardware store.
