The older man that works the cash register thinks it’s okay to call women with short hair “Sir”. Then when he knows he made the mistake, doesn’t apologize. He just grins. It wasn’t clear to me if he thought he was funny, or if he was just ignorant. Either way, it was hurtful and rude. I would be willing to bet that he doesn’t call men with long hair “ma’am”! They clearly do not teach customer service or how to actually be helpful in this store. Also, the prices are unnecessarily high. Will not go back.

Never had any issues! Went to get coating for the Cornhole game I made for my bf and wasn’t even sure where to start. I had a product and the staff helped me took for it. He also provided other suggestions and was very knowledgeable. I was carrying my 2 year old and he carried my products to the cash register. Very friendly staff!!

Love these guys. I hope this location stays open forever and ever. It's truly a great store.As soon as you walk in, they ask if you need help. I always need help, and they are lifesavers. Literally. They made sure I got the right WATT light for my aquarium so my fishes don't die.

Unmatched service, I am in there several times a week for service on chainsaws chains, etc.. They always get the project completed in a timely manner and communicate throughout.

Called for an item I needed asap and this store was the closest one that had it. Was told it was $31.99 and the website also stated that price. Came in, rang up as $69.99. I needed multiple of this item, so I eventually left empty handed. Major waste of time, supervisor made no attempt to make it right. They could at least price match their own website, but nope. Would not recommend this location.

I don't know what it is but I love the size of this store and all it has to offer. It covers the essentials and you don't have to wander around aimlessly like in other hardware stores. The staff is very helpful and the prices are fair. The paint studio was great and allowed us to get exactly the color we want for our project. Had a very good experience.

The best Ace Hardware in the Des Moines metro. Period.Bought my Weber grill from here and received excellent service. It was the last one that they had, so they gave me a good deal for it. Been in a few times since and they always have what I’m looking for. Staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Recommend to anyone!

Called ahead to have them hold a snow blower they had showed 3 of them in stock at the time. When I get there I see 2 upfront both where identical and another off to the side. They sold one immediately after I came in leaving 2 both tagged at $699. When I went to finalize my purchase I’m then told oh sorry this is one of $850 ones and we just sold the other one. When I asked about honoring what the site, and his employee had said he said “these are my only two I’ll get all season and I’m a small business owner. I went down the road to Home Depot and bought a Toro. You’ll see from my attached photos they show 2 of the $699 units but are gouging

Poor service. I knew more about where the product I wanted was in the store than the clerks. Neither a fluorescent bulb nor a fixture worked. At least they refunded my money. While I was standing there, the next guy in line brought back copies of keys made there that didn’t work either.

This is my go to for quick grab stuff and equipment repairs. Gail in the service department is in one word: Amazing. He keeps me coming back. If he ever leaves, I may need to find a new repair shop. They are always fair with pricing, the repair is done correct and the owners are friendly and knowledgable. Some of the young staff can be high on themselves and other staff can use some training on up-selling, but i generally know what I want and can get in and out with no issues.

Just bought a Toro Zero turn mower off of them. Service was fantastic. They prep and delivered the unit to my home. The mower worked and cut perfectly. The pricing was competitive to the other Toro dealers locally. Chris and his staff made this a great buying experience. I would highly recommend this Ace Hardware store.

Friendly and knowledgeable service. Much easier to get around than the bigger home improvement stores. I have also had good luck renting equipment from here (like a drywall lift) and having my lawn mower repaired here.

By far the best hardware store in Des Moines. Family owned with highly trained and friendly staff members who go out of their way to help. I have bought everything from a snow blower to light bulbs in here, I never fail to find what I need. The servicing department is excellent as well. Highly recommend.

Great store with a good inventory of items. Excellent staff that is incredibly knowledgeable. Very competitive pricing usually lower than the big box stores or the online giant.
