Very nice grocery store it's clean and the employees are helpful. I'm only giving it three stars based on the fact that some of the prices were kind of high. You definitely don't want to have to pick up deodorant or shower gel there as the prices on those items are astronomical.

Decided to try the grocery pickup option. It was fast and convenient and friendly employees, while it seemed one was ndw to doing the man was teaching her and did a great job doing so. The only negative was they forgot mt wifes body wash and did not call to let us know. Had my wife not noticed I would have never caught the mistake. It would have been a nice gesture of them to call and let us know instead of having my wife call and they say oh yeah it was still in the bin from your order.

Excellent service and staff, friendly faces and great help from any one you ask. We have enjoyed shopping at this store since it's opened! It's always a pleasure to come in and be treated by the pharmacy or the other departments in the store.

Diane in floral created the bouquets and boutonnieres for our daughters wedding. She took the time to talk through things with her, listening to what she liked. They all turned out beautiful!! My daughter was so pleased. Everyone complimented us on them. We are still enjoying the bouquets 3 days later. Definitely would recommend going here.

Greatest grocery store ever! Travel to other states and see what I mean. The quality is amazing and local Iowan owned products are sold along side the mainstream brands. Lots of perks available on the mobile app.

This store has limited options compared to other Hy-Vee locations, but still plenty to fill your weekly shopping list. We simply will not go here as our primary grocery location because I can get cheaper service and better prices elsewhere...in addition, their change to self-checkouts is discouraging to many customers. We have small kids and the bagging area is always erroring because the kids play next to it...I don't work for Hy-Vee, so I refuse to check myself out for a weeks worth of groceries. There are better options out there.

The gentleman working was awesome! My 4yr old wanted to order her own food which (of course) meant my 2 year old needed to order his own as well and he was great about it. Very patient and directed all questions to the appropriate party while checking (covertly) for approval before fulfilling any part. When she saw the letters on the lid my daughter asked if that was her name and he said "oops how could i have forgot the most important part?" And she happily provided it so it could say her name. Another customer walked up in the middle of all of this and i told him he was welcome to help them first but he just smiled and shook his head and continued the conversation with my kids (another associate did come help the other person). I know sometimes its a pain when kids start exerting their independence and it can be very frustrating at times but to those that take the time to encourage it and assist with development I say thank you. The sense of accomplishment it gave them to do something as simple as ordering their own food is still fondly remembered over a week later (forever in their lifetime) lol

I love Hy Vee. They usually have whatever I need. The staff always talk to me if I'm in an aisle they are working in or walking down. Store is clean and prices are reasonable.

Staff not trained properly in how to handle price discrepincies, coupons, and taxable food that wasn't put into their system correctly. I've had this problem multiple times in the last few months and will NOT return to this store. Manager who tried to help fix the situation was rude (more than once) and not willing to actually correct the problem. I ended up leaving all the items but ONE that I absolutely needed and void the rest. Voided items were baby food and snacks that were processed into their system incorrectly. This problem was brought to management attention TWICE in ONE week and still not addressed or rectified. Very poor customer service will not return. My father has worked for HyVee (Ames#1) for 40 years and even he says I should find a different store near me...

Why does Johnston Hy-Vee not sell seafood products after 6 or 7p on Thursday at meat counter? And, why are so many shelves sparsely stocked? It's open 24 hours, right? Are all locations this limited in the evening?

It's got everything you could want in a grocery store. Bakery, deli, restaurant, Starbucks, meat, seafood, etc. Plus the regular groceries all at a fair price. The store is organized in an extremely weird way though and items are hard to find. For example, they have 2 dairy sections with different items.

Great store. Prices are on the high side but not completely unreasonable. It's cleaner and has far better service than walmart. You get what you pay for and hy-vee is worth it.

Good hyvee, pretty decent selection of vegan meats and cheeses and the produce is pretty solid too!Tonight I bought a sympathy card and a gift card and the cashier asked what the special occasion was... I said "well someone died" and the look on his face was priceless. 10/10 would go back for another laugh!Ps I'm not an awful person, death isn't funny but his expression was.

I like the Johnston HyVee. It's just the right size (today) for what the town of Johnston can reasonably support. The meat counter is superb, and the staff are friendly. Same for the bakery and deli staff. Quite nice. The store is on its way to including more dietary diversity, which reflects changes in the demographics of Johnston in general. I think the people of Johnston appreciate and support their HyVee.

Clean store, fast check out. Only reason I give it 4 stars is because I had an employee follow me around trying to talk to me for half an hour while I was shopping, which I'm not the biggest fan of. Guy didn't really get the hint that I wanted to get in and get out.

Please use caution when buying produce at Hy-Vee. I just shopped the store and saw an end cap featuring watermelon. A special. The sign, it appeared to me to me to read 1/4 slice watermelon, 99 cents. So I grabbed one. I also picked up a couple other items, including ice cream. As I was checking out, I had slid my credit card into the machine. As the total was ringing up, I noticed on the screen that the watermelon was $4.89 or so, I was stunned. I said wait - wait - wait. The sign said 99 cents. The gal said, that's per pound. I said then I don't want the watermelon. I'm not paying $5 for a quarter slice of watermelon! She said it was too late. I would have to take the receipt to the customer service counter to get a refund. I had already noticed people standing there. I said ... I have ice cream, I'm not going over there. So I walked out without the watermelon. As I drove off, I figured I would come back another time to get a refund of the melon. As I got home, I noticed ... no receipt. I paid $5 for watermelon I never received and I have no proof of purchase. I'll be shopping at Fareway or Price Chopper. Ripped off.

Hy-Vee is the strongest good chain in the country always clean and friendly making the food even taste better and leaving people with a good aftertaste. In fairness Fairway does a great job as well for their employees as well as customers.

Not as big or new as some of the other HyVees in the metro, but completely adequate for grabbing something quick. Market Grille is a good spot for lunch. The parking lot here is tricky through.

Ate at the Market Grill. Waited 30 minutes for a grilled chicken sandwich with steamed broccoli and I was the only person in the restaurant. Chicken had zero toppings (none were offered) and no salt or pepper on it. Broccoli was the same. No seasoning. All that for $10. I had such high hopes but I will not be going back again.

I love Hy-Vee - pretty much all locations! I've been going to Hy-Vee since I was a little girl and they were a little store. Not so much the case anymore, for them anyway. Still love em!

Only thing keeping me from giving 5 is sometimes I go in there and it stinks. I leave with my clothes smelling of fried foods, etc...Update: Been in a couple of times over the past year and it's fine. But last night was horrible.... we waited 15 minutes to get the take away Chinese, staff seemed to legitimatelynot care. . We decided to stay in the dining/bar area, got short changed 5 bucks on my purchase. The crab rangoon was petrified, the place was a mess. Stopped to get a couple things, had a cart with discount items in it... you guessed it, the price didn't match and we got overcharged. I'll be going to the Waukee hy vee henceforth but, had to replace my debit card due to a breech they had. Hy Vee slippin.

Hyvee has great cakes and baked goods. I do have a shop I prefer over the large chain. But in a pinch you can buy here and be fine.

I must say even though there is a super hyvee within a few miles of my house, I still like this hy-vee alot more. It doesn't feel as much like a zoo as the super hyvees does, and it's just easier to find things here.

Always really friendly staff. Especially the workers in Starbucks. Salad bar is really good and almost always fresh from my experience. The market grill is pretty good as well.

Hy-Vee is always my favorite place to get groceries. Lots of options, always clean and friendly. This location is not my usual one but it did not disappoint.
