I'd say that's pretty good Odds Plus I have always been a customer. the people that owned it before them I bought my first 125 gallon aquarium from them. And it's got water in it 20 years later on an unlevel floor. AAA++++

I have been to nearly every aquatics/fish store in the metro and this one, by far, takes the number one spot. The attention to detail with regards to aquarium design, decor, and even the species housed within each exhibit is on a near-artistic level. Not only do they have a larger selection of aquatic creatures than anywhere I've been, but the care given to each one is superb. I am especially impressed with the fact that the betta fish they house are in actual planted aquariums, not tiny plastic containers. The fish I've purchased were more vibrant than fish of the same species which I purchased at big box stores (and even some local places), and I find the survival rate to be higher, likely as a result of the improved quality of life they have while at this store. The lady who assisted me was well-versed on each fish I asked about, and she was even able to give me behavioral details and fun facts on them all. I was beyond impressed.

I was a bit worried when I pulled up, because there is no signage in the window, indicating hours or if they were open, but door was unlocked, so went in.I was buying fish for my dad, to start his fish tank, as he doesn't have any fish sellers near his home, so I went in clueless, other than a broad idea of what he wanted to start with.Immediately was greeted by Ashley, and she started answering questions and helping me find fish right away. If she didn't know an answer, instead of guessing, she went to the more experienced salesman, to make sure she had the accurate answer.I'm super happy with the service I received, very friendly and knowledgeable, and highly recommend making the drive here, instead of settling for the probably closer chain pet stores.

I love this store!! The owner is very knowledgeable and helps me figure things out in my own tanks. The atmosphere is laid back and the products here are hand picked by the owner to ensure that they are very high quality. The creatures that live in the store are very well taken care of and healthy. If there is a sick animal, the owner will quarantine it and take care of it until it is healthy again. I am very grateful to live near this shop since it helps me pursue this hobby!

I was there to planing to build a big aquarium. The place was not really clean, but they have alot of fishes and the staffs was very friendly.Update: Okay, so I will give you guys 5 stars and I will come back for sure. Hope you guys can help me set up my dream aquarium.

As someone who’s been in the hobby for a while now I can say these guys know their stuff and have a great shop. They get in some cool freshwater and saltwater fish, they have some amphibians, and axolotls. They have plants, tanks, supplies (filters, heaters, etc.), chemicals, food, dog toys, etc. And the owner Justin is awesome, patient, and knowledgeable for sure!

They have a lot of fish that I haven't been able to find elsewhere in eastern Iowa, including long-finned barbs, lionfish sometimes, a really big puffer, these beautiful long-finned freshwater angelfish.

Very Knowledgeable and very clean. You can tell they take pride in their store and their fish and plants. They helped answer all my questions and gave good recommendations. They even try try to find fish that they do not stock. You can find fish cheaper other places, however if you want higher quality fish you are going to have to pay a little more. I have never had a problem with any of their fish and they all seem to thrive when I get them in my tank. They are very honest too. If they think they can not get something I am looking for, they will be honest and inform you it would be easier to get it online. They take the time to learn about what you are looking for and will give honest advice. Yes sometimes they are busy and you have to wait your turn to ask a question, but a little patience is better than getting a wrong answer. I am willing to pay a couple dollars more for expertise and high quality fish. If I was looking for a cheap, sell you anything even though it will be a disaster place, I would go to a big box pet store. Crowned Aquatics is the place to go.

If you want to just go look at amazing fish. Purchase a pet, pet supplies or just ask a pet lover questions. This is your place! Justin is a badass. I will only make purchases at this store. I don't like making posts. I don't like often rate places. I am taking the time to 5star this pet store because it is awesome.They got tanks, lightning and plant life. He has food and bubblers and medicine! Best part, a pro will help you pick out anything with honest advice.

This place is new but has many selections already! I've been in business with them since they were located in a different location. Extremely nice and friendly everytime we visit. They always acknowledged us and spend time chatting with us about fish. Justin always makes us feel welcome everytime we enter the store. The prices on their selections by far the best in town and I've been to many local fish store! This place has fresh/salt water, reptiles and others!

Love Crowned Aquatics, they've been extremely helpful in getting our small 20-gallon tank up and running and stocked with healthy, happy fish. The staff are truly knowledgeable about all things aquatic, and you can tell they're passionate about their work, too. You'll never find this sort of trusted advisor at a PetSmart or Petco fish aisle! Great selection of fresh- and saltwater fish, plus accessories and tank decorations galore! Check this place out, you won't regret it!

Great selection of unique fish, staff was super friendly. Ended up getting 4 guppies and 1 red bristle nose pleco and they are doing great! Which considering basically everytime I get fancy guppies at a chain pet store one always ends up dead after a few days is certainly a relief. Great for those looking for fish to add to their aquarium!

Stumbled upon this store after failing to get help at several other stores. I’m having an issue with snails in my tank and couldn’t find the help I needed at other establishments. So I googled fish stores and decided to check out crowned aquatics. Boy am I glad I did. Staff was helpful and informative but not pushy. They knew exactly what I was talking about and what I should do. It was a breath of fresh air to speak to someone that knows what they are doing. You don’t get that at a big box store. I have found my new destination for my aquarium needs. Thank you

I visited for the first time today after a recommendation from my co worker. I was beyond impressed with the clean tanks and knowledge of the employees. All of the fish seemed healthy and active. I've always gotten my fish from the big chain pet stores. I will be coming here from now on. They have a huge selection of freshwater species and rare fish. Most stores focus mainly on saltwater. I'm so excited to have found this store.

Probably the best fish store this side of the Mississippi! Very helpful and willing to educate every single person that walks through the door. Treats everyone "customer or not" with respect as they enter or leave the store. Has a wide variety of different species, from African cichlids on down to mollies and guppies. Definitely worth checking out and spending entire paychecks!

Went in to peak at the fish and left with a tank. Really nice to see a store carry supplies at a fair price, I see a lot of places that mark up their tank supplies which makes amazon the better option. Not here what I got was actually slightly cheaper than online. Very nice service and beautiful fish, some of the healthiest I've seen for sale in a shop. I'll 100% be coming back for clowns ( but deciding which variety will be difficult) Also accidently declined a receipt but contacted them and was able to get one emailed to me. Overall a great store to shop from.

Crowned Aquatics became a favorite of ours to visit during the early stages of the pandemic, when it was still known as Adam's Aquatics. This place is fun to browse around and look at the different types of fish, loaches, frogs and various reptiles. We love the variety and learning about different fish. The owners, Justin and Ashley, are awesome- very friendly and helpful. (They also foster dogs, so their expertise doesn't stop with aquatic life!) I'd highly recommend Crowned Aquatics as a place to visit, whether you're a fish enthusiast or setting up your first small aquarium. (We now have four, so maybe we've gone a bit overboard? 🤣) I never knew fish could be so entertaining to own!
