Update 3-3-2023I stopped at this location again, and it was a different experience.The items were stocked, and checkout lines went fast.The store changed the checkouts to more self checkout, and the other checkouts had 2 smaller checkouts instead of one.The staff were very friendly.It was still hard to find things since things were moved around, but a better experience.I will shop earlier, it seems to be better then later in the dayPrevious experienceI have been coming here for years, and every time I shop here, it gets worse. I think today really put the icing on the cake.Walmart, in general, is a great place to shop. I have visited numerous Walmarts all over, and everyone is slightly different.This particular one has lost my respect.I'm trying to shop here, and several areas are empty. This is not covid. It happened before Covid and still happens every week.I can say items were hard to findI can say they didn't have themI can say three high school boys were using electric carts like Mario cart, and you could hear them throughout the store. Also, not one manager did one thing to stop it.I can say the lines were very long.I can say a lot of things happened today.But I will say that when high school boys are running carts laughing through the store and no one does anything that tells me management doesn't care or doesn't want to lose business.The carts are for elderly or people who can not walk the store for health issues. They depend on it or they can't shop.I will say that there are two walmarts not far away that I will shop from now on.Thank you to the workers who did help find things since things were moved around. I really appreciate the kindness and help. If it wasn't for the staff helping, it would have been 1 star.

Horrible customer service in the automotive and sporting goods area. Just trying to get a head light waited for 20 minutes. This is the third time this has happened where I had to stand there. I even went and talked to a guy in electronics and told him that I was standing there waiting.His response was. I think they lost the keys. I waited for another 5 minutes and nobody came. I finally just left still with no headlight customer service is trash in Iowa City Walmart.

Can never seem to get help at this location. See lots of staff they just don't seem to want to help or not knowledgeable enough to help. The self check outs never want to take my folding money. Like a old school soda machine but your only other option is the 2 manned registers that have 100000 people at all times. Lose lose for this location

Iowa city Walmart is terrible, I have shopped at many Walmart's over the years in many different states and cities and I have never had as many issues as I do at this one. I lived in South Carolina for 15 years and never had a single issue with the Walmart there. Sense moving to Iowa I have had nothing but issues on my deliveries, smashed bread, milk with no expiration date. toms of items marked as not available such as milk, I have never known Walmart not to have a gallon of some sort of milk. Missing items I was charged for, they never answer their phone, not even for other Walmart reps. This store badly needs a new manger to run it and they need to train there shoppers properly to know where items are located in the store. This is a hugely advanced job for employees that know the store and where items are located and should be a step up in any store once you have worked the floors for several years. I hope that this Walmart gets its act together.

TERRIBLE customer service. I went in today and bought $0.52 ramen noodles. The person guarding self checkout watched me the entire time and did not take his eyes off me. Then as I was getting ready to leave he tried stopping me and accusing me of stealing after he watched me do my entire transaction. He also didn’t speak fluent English and starts yelling in a different language across the store. This ain’t this first time I’ve had issues ether. My opinion, don’t go to this walmart unless you’d like to be accused of stealing product from them and treated like a dog.

Wal-Mart saves Christmas dinner, or do they? I will let you decide. I placed a Wal-Mart online order five days in advance to insure the items I wanted where in stock and available so I could have a worry-free Christmas dinner this season. I am naturally planner and go through a lot of extreme efforts to ensure that my dinner is decided on and all the necessary ingredients is either in my house or in the Walmart order, to avoid extra unassay Christmas stress. The first thing to pop up to my attention on delivery day is that Wal-Mart was extra eager to deliver my items, so they sent them out before 10 am which is normally a huge plus right? Who does not love an early order? Well, this early order came with a price, I did not receive my hot rotisserie chicken. The star of my Christmas dinner! They agreed this was not acceptable and set out a refund for the extra fee for the order and then set up a new order for today between 5pm - 6pm and promised a chicken would be delivered. So on to put up my items, I was missing about six items from my order and added a pack of water I never ordered to my items. I called and they issued a refund for my missing items and a 10-dollar gift card to cover the price of the under 35-dollar order. Overall, my Christmas dinner though was not stress-free ordering, they have taken care to lessen my stress in a thoughtful and timely manner so I will say they deserve 5 stars. I may down grade if the chicken does not arrive today, but I do want to be a thoughtful and considerate customer and not tank their reviews for a time that is stressful for employees and customers alike. Hopefully the replacements will all arrive on time and the rest of my Christmas dinner will go off without a hitch! Fingers crossed that Santa gets his favorite fresh orange cookies this year! They have the rotisserie chicken available 10am - 4pm daily. So, it makes sense to get the order out before 10am for delivery and just put not in stock, right? So, if you want your order on time just chose 10am - 11am and add a hot rotisserie chicken to your order Iowa City Wal-Mart will make your order a priority to leave the store prior to 10am! and refund you for the chicken that is not in stock. Extra take home from this? If you want your order to arrive on time, then place a 10am -11am order with a rotisserie chicken. That was the first time my order arrived at 10am on the dot! All my other orders where either right on the 11am dot or a little late. Seems like Chicken really causes all those Wal-Mart elves to get off the shelf and hustle this year. Remember to be kind to each other as Santa enters through the heart not the chimney!

i really wish i could give a zero star review. employees and customer service reps are rude. my mom ordered groceries yesterday from here to pick up and today she gets another charge for not much over $130 today (WHICH SHE DID NOT MAKE). she called to try and figure it out and the first time she gets hung up on, the SECOND time whoever she got transferred to was zero help and told her to just "wait a couple days". this is not a place i will willingly shop in again.

There were some very nice women working there, very helpful. Probably the best Walmart customer service anyone will ever get at any walmart, which admittedly is a low bar. It's like 5 African women with headscarves running the whole store and everyone of them deserves a raise.

Employees seem unhappy, it makes the experience suck. When I was a kid walmart employees were happier and walmart felt like the best place.Walmart --- please make employee a priority, they make (or break) the experience.

I hope this staff member can learn to be cordial and treat all clients of all races the same. I understand that everyone has their own beliefs but we can all learn to still respect each other. May she find a better way to deal with different clients.

This WM had the new layout going on, plenty of back to school items everywhere.I was looking for 1 certain item in the craft section, which for WM was very skimpy. Lots of end of season markdowns and clearance items. I was in and out quickly as they did not have my item.

This is the worst Wallmart in the entire country (or close - because of management). They do the opposite of customer service and couldn't care less about you even as a human being. they will delight in your suffering!!! If you must go to Walmart, go to Coralville.

Went in, wasn't greeted. Did my strolling, shopping and got a cart full of things passing multiple employees. Went to scan my own items, was rudely pushed aside when one of my items was 18+(mucinex) and employee had to enter credentials. Even while leaving not one single employee said a single word to me. I understand that it's busy right now but it only takes a fraction of a second to show appreciation for my business. I could have easily purchased everything online and saved a couple of bucks. Instead, I spend more to be under appreciated. What a great world we live in today!

I’d give 5 stars if checkout situations could be fixed. This is a customer friendly Walmart up until you check out. Standing at the checkout with 3 kids and 500ish in groceries (only one cart in 2023 lol) isn’t terrible. It’s the waiting 20+ minutes waiting on families exactly like mine. AND……..that’s still not the kicker! It’s the 2-4 employees watching you to make sure you’re not stealing while trying to scan bags and make room for everything.If we’re going to bag our own that’s fine. Have areas bigger then a 2x2 stainless plate that can hold more then 2 bags. Or at least bring empty carts so you can unload and load efficiently. I’ve had to stop with bags lined all around the floor and make others wait while I go retrieve one. However outside of check out issues this is a well managed and clean store!

I was impressed by Walmart's pharmacy. The only criticism I would have is that I commented on the increased price of my drug that I came for and the young woman didn't mention that another prescription was in the bag and added $4 to the cost. Otherwise, outstanding performance.

Gotta love Wollyworld. I go to Walmart occasionally just to check teh clearance. 🙃 Around certain times of the year there's great deals of varying items 👌🏻 😀.

It was very busy at the time I went but I was able to find everything I needed.I don't like the fact I stood in line for 20 minutes and went to leave and was stopped. Because they wanted to see my things to make sure I paid.my daughter did that and the walked away with her copy and now she can't return items because she has no proof that she paid.

Stopped in to get a stocking hat, and they were misplaced, and/or mislabeled for $2.97. they wrang up at $12.97. spoke to 4 associates, and then another one came back that I hadn't spoke to, and said they were $12.97, and it wasn't their problem that they were misplaced/mislabeled. She was quite rude, and short with me, and didn't try to make it right with me. She turned her back to me, and walked away, and ignored me when I showed her a picture of the shelf where I had found the items. Very unprofessional.

This is a nice Walmart with the biggest selection of tools, car items, and household hardware I've seen. The store is clean and it wasn't as crazy busy as some other locations. There were some very good markdowns also. I enjoyed the shopping experience there.
