I've been shopping at the Iowa City Staples store for many years — starting back when it was at the old location. Quality products, friendly service, great value, and the various reward membership levels bring more savings. We've purchased many printers, ink, shredders, computers, network devices, various cables, pens, paper, chairs, officer mats, and more.

Extremely rude staff. Waited for 15 minutes to buy a chair and when I approached the salesman for help he argued with me and proceeded to tell me he can’t do everything. Left and went to the Cedar Rapids Staples and was greeted with great service and respect.

Joke-don’t bother if you need copy/print service—two machines and one was down, and another customer who couldn’t get his job to print because he did something wrong allowed to tie up the one working machine. Clerk asked how many pages we had to copy—told her 5 and she said she was too backed up to copy them for us??!! No wonder Staples will be out of business soon.

Absolutely terrible printing experience. Just took a look at the business cards I got today and all of the text has jagged edges (even straight lines) making finer lines unreadable and half the cards have white edges on them or jagged edges because the machine didn't cut properly.

Tech people worked on computer, when it still refused to totally cooperate, looked at it again and found one more issue. Did not make me feel 'stupid' for now knowing insides of the computer, just that I needed it to get it back in business.

I had ordered 2 print jobs to be printed at this staples. There was an issue with it not showing up in the system. It could have been a bad experience but your new manager Andrew turned it around. He was willing to try and fix it. By the end I had what I needed and he was friendly and patient throughout. Thanks Andrew!

Nothing bad i can say about the store. Me and my husband go there frequently and they even recognize us 5/5I'm updating my review 6 years later than my original one and it's still the same awesome service. Honestly, the people who work there are always great help. Their current manager, I believe his name is DJ is always very knowledgeable and person oriented and I received great help from a young male associate yesterday and I couldn't be happier how many things we accomplish with one trip, including Amazon returns and pickups .

August 29 @ 4:35 pmI had to use the print service today and the person in front of me must’ve been printing quite a bit of paper so I asked the print counter to help me print my paper because of the long delay at the printer. There were two young females at the desk. I kindly went up and asked if they would help me print it and one of the girls was very abrasive to me not in a good customer service way, but very abrasive telling me she would not do that because she had other orders in front of me that she was working on other important things! and the other girl witnessed her very poor customer service. Generally,I print here about two or three times a week. I think tomorrow I’m gonna buy a new printer tonight somewhere else not Staples, so I never have to walk in the store again. Train your people and customer service folks. It’s unfortunate when you have employees that treat your customers like this.When the face of your company is run by unhelpful, rude people, that’s when the business starts to go down!

I'm very impressed with the customer service I received today at Staples. I was using the service for package returns and had never done this so I was completely unsure of how to proceed when I walked in. Associate Keyven met me and when I explained my situation he escorted me to the return desk, explaining the process as he quickly and efficiently processed my return. He gave me a store coupon as well. Keyven was extremely courteous and knowledgeable, and I will definitely return to this store.

Customer service was excellent, Fazon helped us, was very informative with the issues we had w our printer. Answered every question. It’s nice to go into a store, have someone come and ask if you need help instead of having to search for a warm body. Especially when time is an issue.

My husband and I bought a printer there , and upon setup could not find the starter cartridges. We went back and the staff was soooo patient and helpful, despite our cranky attitudes. We would have been ok with buying replacement cartridges. Unfortunately, however, the pandemic seems to have disrupted supply chains for printer cartridges along with many other commodities, so they were completely out, along with their distributors.We spoke to Claire and the manager, Chad, who offered many options for us and were very patient.Eventually we returned home and discovered the starter cartridges were embedded in the styrofoam upside down in a heap destined for the trash.We called them back and thanked them for their patience and apologized for being so grouchy, upon which Chad said he would have been grouchy too. We consider this to be top notch customer service. Thank you Chad and Claire!Janie and Robert

Bought a new office chair from this Staples, but when we opened it, some of the screws from the hardware was missing. We talked to the manager on the phone and he graciously, personally brought a new hardware pack from the inventory in the store in Cedar Rapids within a couple of hours. Above and beyond! Thank you!

Very frustrating experience:I needed to return a printer toner, I purchased online, in exchange for a new toner purchase in store.No one at the service desk knew how to return a online purchase. I had to wait 20 minutes for the only employee in the entire store that knew how to do a return, help the customer service rep.To make matters worse, the toner I needed wasn't even offered in store, I had to go back online to make the new purchase!Staples, why don't you train your employees?If this was my business I'd be completely embarrassed by how it's ran.

Be aware of extra fees in printing department. Did not see any signs nor told about it at check out. Did not check receipt until out of the store. Express Guarantee fee for having something printed or laminated by Staples Employee. Is not applied to self serve machines.

Found all the school supplies I needed and it ended up being way cheaper than what I would normally pay at Target. It wasn’t busy at all and the employees were nice. My only complaints are that some aisles (notably the pen and pencil aisle) were quite cluttered and they have no price checkers. Because of the clutter, it was hard to tell which price went with which product. But otherwise it was a good experience.

Awful. This is the only place outside the University you can go to print things in Iowa City and it’s always a hassle. Their self service printer never works, the USB port is shot. I’ve tried several flash drives and they never work but the staff just shrugs. Then you have to ask them to print at the desk, it takes forever and in some cases they charge you more than they would at the self service printer for “express service,” even though it’s their fault you had to ask them to print!! Horrible. Also staff either doesn’t wear masks or wears them below the nose which is unsanitary. Do not recommend.

No Staff. Phone "techs" have no knowledge at all (kept whispering to person beside her for answers).Bought $399.99 Epson printer on emergency basis out of frustration. Had it picked up and delivered by friend (emergency basis) but could not be set up over 6 hours. Stain all over.Talked to manager who had a real "So what is your problem" attitude.I've now lost $400 and am 4 days behind deadline.Get more staff! Smart ones would be a real asset.

I had a great experience with their printing service. I am studying for an upcoming licensure exam and had a huge book that was hard to carry around, and I had brought it in and asked them to see if they would be able to de-spine the book and create booklets from the page numbers I had specified. The printing team did a fantastic job! My book had pages that were fairly thin, so I was worried that there would be damage or some tearing-but everything was done very carefully and everything was done perfectly. The sections were correct and separated as I had asked. The only thing I'd mention is that I had requested that they call me when it was finished so I could pick it up, and I did not receive a call when it was finished-I ended up calling myself to request the status on my order, but this was a very minor thing.

Bad experience, when at home I can scan and convert files to PDF easily with a 30 dollar printer, away from home went to Staples to do the same thing, 11 dollars and an hour and a half later, with left without the most simplest tasks not completed, promised an email sent to me with the completed 'scan project' which was as seemingly difficult as the the Los Alamos project, never happened. I waited a day to write this review and I'm still irritated 😡. But I will get over it 😁

My printer was not working with my computer and I needed my documents printed right away. The printing tech printed my documents from my USB thumb drive in no time for about 60cent. I am pleased with the speed friendliness and great price. Thanks

Ridiculous. I was told by an In-Store Employee/manager that my item would be shipped to my doorstep the next day.(I live a total of maybe 16 blocks away)Which I thought was a great deal.(my buddies challenger wouldn't fit the humongo box) I know you say "Oh, some douchebag didn't get what he wanted the next day? too bad(first world Problems)." There is alittle something called accountability and it should be addressed by alot more ppl, too. Or when you say some thing, or make a deal with somebody it should be kept. If I would have known that it would have taken all weekend for them to cancel my local order and RE-order another one from another store/warehouse location, I would have found another way to get to my house rather than wait all weekend without a chair to sit in. I find this ridiculous that they would do this to someone, without a call or a contact, they just got my freaking email, they should have at least Emailed me to inform me of the change. So why not Highly Satisfied, See above.I am a server, if I brought my patrons food to them tomorrow and just let them sit there and never came back to their table to tell them that their food wouldn't be there until tomorrow. They would just leave, and probably not come back. Same concept, different environment. You make me a promise, I expect it to be Honored.Thank you, Dave Janowiec

Great when you need something fast. But prices are excessive! I mean really expensive! Get 5 toner cartridges online for the price of 1 locally. But when a company needs it it's worth it.

I wish Mr. DeSotel, the assistant manager at the Staples in Iowa City, would teach classes. You go in and tell him what you're out of and it seems like 5 minutes later you're walking out of the store with everything you need.The employees at this Staples all do a great job.
