A wonderful Parisian style little cafe with a wide selection of mouthwatering pastries, both sweet and savory.If the weather is warm, their outside seating area is excellent to soak in the sun while sipping on an espresso and a delicious croissant. The croissants are as good as they come around here. Flaky, buttery, and a medium between crunchy and chewy. Just made right by a crew of excellent bakers whom you can see hard at work as you make your orders.If it’s a typical cold Iowa morning, stay inside in their small seating area with little space in between tables. If you have never been to a cafe in Europe or elsewhere in the world, you may lose your big American Midwestern privacy. I don’t mind the small spaces, it makes for real human interactions. Whether I’m reading a book or finishing up a work report.If you go there and you don’t order their quiche…I seriously doubt the soundness of your food choices. And their baguettes sandwiches are best dipped in a freshly brewed hot cup of black coffee. Do so, and you are solid for the day.Whether you are on a coffee date or out with the kids, this place is just for you. Warm, cozy, and the smell of fresh coffee and baked pastries are all over the place. The key word here is comfort. Or hygge, if you know what I mean.Finally, if you are weird like me and appreciate fine china, do marvel over their beautiful plates.

My husband and I always try to find little independent shops and small businesses no matter if we travel close to home or thousands of miles away.I had to go go Iowa City for a follow-up with my surgeon for my knee replacement and I wanted a pastry or donut and not just a chain shopI was giggling and came across this little gem.Before we even made it all the way into the door we were greeted by several people and they engaged us in conversation.They have a very cute little shop and a great variety of sweet and savory options.We would definitely go back there again if we are back in Iowa City when they're open.

I love it here. Great food, vibe, people. If you ever want to feel as close as you can to sitting at a European cafe in Iowa this is it. Especially in springtime and summer when everyone sits outside and it feels like a community.Brunch is amazing on Sundays. I love the grilled cheese, French toast, and bagels. Other highlights for me were the Ted Lasso cookies they made a couple years ago.@Deluxe: I wanted to share some ideas for much loved pastries that are hard for me to get elsewhere. if you were to ever make freshly piped ricotta Cannoli or small pinky-sized cannolicchi (even just as a special) and/or some kind of Mediterranean baklava, I feel you’d get some extra biz!! I know I’d be there more like daily than weekly.

This is BEST absolute BEST place to get pastries in the Iowa City area. The owner is such a warm and welcoming lady. Every conversation we have it feels like we have known each other for years. The laminated doughs thooooooo. They're flaky, buttery, crispy, and tender with just enough sweetness to compliment. Must have can't go wrong at all. Their macaroons were the first I had ever had and they set the bar very high for the next place if there is a next place. Love this place so much. Can't say enough good things about this place.If you are a coffee lover you should try their coffee. I personally never have (not a coffee fan at all), but it smells like good quality coffee. Very tempting.

Oh my goodness- wow! I had a weekend special pastry! Fresh apples & caramel pastry! Extremely fresh & SO good! My son loved his donut! The coffee was fresh & it was adorable inside. If you are in Iowa City- you have to go here! We are from out of town & stumbled across this cute place.

Simply the best spot for a quick breakfast and a chat with friends.Immaculate location downtown Iowa city, outdoor seating is fantastic and of course all the food is top notch. Some of the best pastries I’ve had outside of Paris. One piece I had I’d swear I was in France but got to go back to my house right after!Have been in a few times in recent weeks, Easily my new favorite Saturday tradition.Excited to try more!

If you are in the Iowa City area or even close, Deluxe is a must eat. The pastry, baguette, cakes, sandwiches macrons and everything I have ever tried is wonderful. We got my daughter’s birthday cake here and it was the most delicious birthday cake we’ve ever had (marble with chocolate mousse filling and white frosting) and the shortbread cookies we ordered were so perfectly decorated and buttery-delicious! I love eating here too out in the garden and getting a cup of coffee.

Went in to do a tasting of cakes with my bestie for her wedding and was so impressed with this place! It's the cutest little bakery with seating, coffee drinks, a display case with delicious ready-made cakes, cake bites, pastries, croissants, baguettes, tarts, pies, you name it. A hidden gem I'm glad to have found. Will definitely be back!

They are prompt to reply to emails, flexible in adjusting orders, and even delivered to our home at our backyard tent wedding. Eat HERE! 1. The baguettes are magnificent; great crust, awesome flavor, and a truly superb bubble structure. 2. The croissants are unique and are made from start to finish in house. The layering is a true masterpiece and they have fun and delicious takes in a croissant. 3. The cookies were a food orgasm! 4. We are going back to get their croissant crust quiche.

Delicious bread and pastries! The coffee was good, as well. The oatmeal was amazing, with lots of different flavors, fruits, and nuts in it. There is a small patio that is dog-friendly. Being in a neighborhood, there was not a lot of traffic and it was fairly quiet.

Absolutely delicious food! I recently received a recommendation from someone who described Deluxe as serving "the best chocolate croissant ever." How could I resist?! We tried the apple almond croissant, gruyere baguette, broccoli and cheddar quiche, mornay/olive/tomato croissant, and a chai latte with oat milk. My favorite was the apple almond croissant, and my husband's favorite was the mornay/olive/tomato croissant. We were also amazed at how delicious a simple baguette with cheese could be! Everything was incredible. We cannot wait to come back and try more!

I gave 3 stars only because i like that sandwiches. Other than that the coffee isn't all that i just don't understand paying a pricey price for a shot of coffee. I mean a small cup that's only fill half it's like a shot of drink. Im also deaf and told the lady who seem to be rushing me to order when i told her 3 times give me a minute to look and tpye down what i want .

I would like to give one more start to this bakery. Very authentic healthy bakery! There is a open kitchen right behind bread display case, and people can see how they make all bread from scratch. Love their small bite size cute cakes and fruit tarts.

Phenomenal little bakery. It’s a sweet spot for a brunch date of coffee and croissants. Try their Nutella or chocolate almond. Seriously delicious, and their coffee is good, too! Would recommend.

Ordered a cake for my granddaughters 5th birthday which we were holding in Iowa City & I didn't want to drive over an hour from our home with a cake in the car. I can say I definitely wish we lived closer to Iowa City because Deluxe Bakery would be my go to for all of our birthday cakes! The staff at Deluxe Bakery is super friendly & were very accommodating to what I wanted the cake to be. When they gave me the selection of cake flavors & I picked strawberry (granddaughter hates chocolate) I didn't realize it was going to be this amazing layered cake with a strawberry filling between the layers. Both the cake & cupcakes were beyond wonderful!
