Parents treated us to dinner here and we found our new favorite burger place in DSM! Great options for GF peeps, burger was so good-n-juicy and the regular fries I was told from husband SUPER good. My GF sweet potato fries were over cooked but still pretty good. I'll be back for sure-really nicely decorated!Dietary restrictions: GF OPTIONS & 🍻 BEER

We have been to Flight many times, have tried a variety of items on the menu and have never had anything that we didn’t love.The new cheese curds are delicious, love the sweet potato fries, the Foundation burger and patty melt are both scrumptious, too. Oh, and the Flight Fries with four different dipping sauces are *chef’s kiss*. They even have gluten-free buns!They have a great variety of alcoholic drinks and some more fancy, seasonal mixed drinks that are fun to try.The atmosphere is family friendly and the menu has the basics that kids enjoy.The only con is there is often a wait, so plan ahead.

Our burgers were 10/10. The jalapeno one was our favorite. The fresh peppers are magic. We ordered the chilli and it was good had a little heat but perfection.Our server she was fantastic I'm sad I didn't catch her name but she was there at open on Feb 8th. She had dark hair and a wonderful demeanor. She served our little table of my husband and I and our daughter. She was the best part of the experience as we have been a few places lately that lacked charm in the staff. She's a keeper!

Service is the first thing you'll notice. The girls working are very efficient and attentive. They're always checking in with you. The second thing you see is how fast your items come out. We had the fried cheese curds with the Chipotle ranch for an appetizer. Lightly breaded just the way I like them. We had the pork tenderloin sandwich and the burger of the year The Foundation Burger. Both are excellent choices and worth the short drive from Des Moines.

Great experience at Flight Bar and Grill tonight! They really deserve their rating as #1 burger in Iowa in 2023.I started out with their Cheese curds with the sauce, they were tasty!Next came the Foundation burger with Flight fries. The burger was absolutely delicious, and juicy too! The fries are fantastic too!The service is excellent, there is plenty of space, and it's not too loud too.Overall, it was very good, and I will return!

Everything was amazing. The best burger rumors are true. I also had the best sweet potato fries! The pumpkin spice martini was delicious. My daughter loved her salad. Our server was great. Can’t wait to go back.

Drive 3 hours for the worst service in ia. We were there around 1pm and they were not terrible busy. There was a lot of staff around, our waitress took a long time to deliver menus and a picture of water, and was gone for another 20 minutes. We were going to leave when she took notice and then took our orders. We ordered "onion rings" they were onion straws and they were soaked in so much oil. And then the sprouts. There was maybe 5 sprouts and they were raw and burnt at the same time (how). The burgers were the only savior of the meal. We had to get our owne refills. There were several staff gathered eat drinking and chatting but no attention to customers. After we had finished what we could stomach. We had to actively find our server to get the bill befor we could leave. Maybe just a off day?

Heard about this being the best burger in Iowa, so me and a friend had to come try it. Let me just say our anticipation was at an all time high, because I have had previous years winners and they were all amazing. This is the first time I can say that the burger was just okay. The key to the best burger, as my friend was saying, is you taste it and think wow there is no way I could make that myself, they did something really special. Flight's classic burger, although decent, tastes like something anyone could make at home. To be honest, it was a little bland. There were no stand out flavors at all. What I will say is that the fries were amazing as well as the ranch.Overall, I think the restaurant was solid and our server was amazing. I would not say this is worth an hour round trip to try, though. This review is a lot harsher than I would normally be, because of the prestige of this award and the anticipation of trying it.

Holy cow, tackling that large Moscow Mule was an adventure! Eight of us tried, but even with our combined efforts, we couldn't finish it. The beer selection was fantastic, and they boast an impressive array of premium whiskeys. My wife adored the cider selection, especially the local options served in cans.One minor inconvenience was the policy of not seating parties until everyone arrived, understandable but slightly aggravating for our group of nine. However, the owner's warmth and helpfulness more than made up for it, answering all our questions with a smile. This spot is now my top choice whenever I visit my cousins in Iowa.The famous smash burger lived up to its reputation - utterly delicious, especially paired with crispy, well-seasoned sweet potato fries.Just be cautious with parking, and don't miss the turn before the restaurant - we had to make an unexpected U-turn, but it was worth it for the experience!

This was our first visit and we were very pleased with the service. The young women who served us were exceptional! They were friendly, attentive, and seemed genuinely glad to serve us. The classic burger was great, just a little greasy. I enjoyed the patty melt but, again, a little too greasy. I believe it was from the bread being grilled so they must've used butter or oil on it. The fries were very good and we both got a huge portion. We both brought home half of our burgers and most of the fries for another meal. Will definitely be back.

Great place! New restaurant was great to see in a small town that is growing. Staff was friendly and helpful. The food was amazing 👏 I had the Grown Up Grilled Cheese Sandwich. Oh, so good!My friend had the Bacon Cheese Burger. Said it was delicious.Parking can be a little tricky, tight, small parking lot.I will be back, and remember to get photos.

The Foundation Burger won a ‘Best Burger in Iowa’ award last year, and for good reason. I like to get it with a side of sweet potato fries. Or, if a burger isn’t what you’re looking for, you won’t be disappointed. Most of the menu is pretty good. Overall, this restaurant is really high quality for being in a relatively small town.

I went here on a Friday evening and it was very busy. This is a large place, but I managed to find room at the bar and was served right away. They have a decent craft beer selection. I tried the Fiesta Wrap and it was really good. I’ll have to come back to try their burgers. I was so hungry that I forgot to take a picture of the food. Service was friendly, attentive, and quick. I highly recommend going here.

Had the cheese curds and thought they were very good. I personally had the foundation burger and thought it was quite greasy and a little on the messy side. Wife had grilled cheese she said it was very tasty but a little on the greasy side also. Service was excellent. Got there 5:30ish so didn't have to wait for a table but got very busy after that.

Disappointed this didn't live up to the hype. Service was mediocre, our waitress didn't have the best etiquette and started taking things from the table when we weren't done and never asked. The food wasn't bad at all but it wasn't something that stood out either. The burger was overly greasy for being a smash burger but had good flavor. The skinny marg tasted off like it was missing something. Love what they're doing for the small town school and the money they raise, I think more businesses should follow that aspect. Probably won't be back for 2nd round.

Being the winner of Iowa's best burger 2023 made me have high expectations to start. The burger was very good, i thought worthy of the title. Staff was great. Where they fell flat was the QR code drink menu. No cell connection and the free wifi wasnt any better. I gave up after trying to load the drink menu for 10 minutes. Frustrating.

Flight is one of our FAVORITE central Iowa restaurants! The food is always incredible (you’ve got to try that Foundation Burger 🤤), the staff and owners are super friendly and attentive, and it is extremely kid friendly! Perfect for lunch or dinner out with the fam, date night/drinks, or Sunday brunch! They are absolutely top notch! 👏🏻Kid-friendliness: Not only is their kids menu awesome, they have a kids eat free night each week, and they hold kid friendly events for families too (hey there, Santa)! They think of it all when it comes to keeping our little ones happy and entertained!

In Iowa for RAGBRAI, stopped in for fueling for the big ride——- I’m a burger - a- holic burger snob, sooo I got the Foundation burger- ‘signature first choice’ as suggested. Matt’s team delivered the goods; masterpiece double smash burger cooked exactly the way I like it - Medium -as in pink- (and Hot) middle - check! Bun a cross between classic butter bun and pretzel bun, and soft - check! Excellent thick slice smoked bacon 🥓- check! Fab waitstaff checking in sincerely asking how we are doing and any further requests etc. …you can tell they Like their jobs and are trained on Real customer service - check ! Ambiance = everything very much clean with nice vibe - check!Great tap selection- check!Family friendly - check! I’ll be back !Thank you Matt & Flight Team.BTW….great high octane for RAGBRAI, any long ride, or when the crave strikes. Voted best #1 in all of Iowa 2023 for a simple reason-it is.
