We just moved to Iowa City area from St Louis 3 months ago. Our Great Dane started having seizures and her health declined quickly. Dr Dennis was so compassionate, and so accommodating. We had such a hard time with our Vet back home since we moved, and then a bad experience with a local emergency clinic. Then we found Doctor Dennis, who helped us out a great deal during this extremely difficult time. We had to put our girl to sleep yesterday. His level of care and compassion is unmatched. You can see it in his eyes and sense it. It almost breaks his heart as much as it did ours. Thank you sir for the level of care and kindness you’ve shown us and our beloved friend over the past 11 days. We will never forget it.

Dr. Dennis is so down to earth and so good with my Snowball. We were so concerned with how hyper she is when meeting new people but she reacted so differently with him. He was super helpful with tips and offers healthy snacks and food for sale off the shelf. Most importantly, the price for service is budget friendly. So glad I was referred to him after not being able to get in at other places.They're moving to a new location just across the street from their current location.

Dr Dennis seems very caring. He also explained some things to me about my elder cats' health issues that I did not know. My cats are fairly old--almost 16 and 18. I want them to live as long as they aren't sick and suffering. I think Dr. Dennis will be a real help

Dr. Dennis and his office have been very good to us. We adopted a dog a month ago and he's been ill since we got him. We've made several visits in the month that we've had him and with Dr. Dennis' help think we finally have figured out what's been going on with our dog. They've been very patient and helpful and have gotten us in last minute a couple times now and were patient with us when we were late for an appointment on a Saturday when we had to turn around and go back home to get a forgotten stool sample. He answers all my questions with great information and patience. He doesn't rush and he listens to all my concerns. He also gives really great pet parenting advice. Prices are very reasonable. I am glad we decided on Animal Haven for our doggy's care. Having Saturday hours is so, so, so super helpful and it's conveniently right off the interstate and super easy to get to it.

I have known Dr Dennis and Allison now for over a year as I transport dogs & cats from our local animal shelter to him for care. I have found them to be extremely kind & caring towards the animals as well as their customer service. I ask questions as I want to be as informed so I can pass info on to staff at shelter as well as educate me further personally. I lived at an animal rescue/sanctuary (dogs, cats reptile, exotic, you name it, one had surely passed thru at some point) and loved being around all the critters & helping to care for them. We had a wonderful vet who never hesitated to make the time to explain any/all issues with each & every critter who came to us.I found that Dr Dennis is cut from the same personality. And Allison, the secretary/receptionist/assistant is equally as great. They are without a doubt my favorite vet clinic...my furbabies are my loves of my life and they are MY CHILDREN therefore I am every bit as protective of them as any parent(s) of 2 legged children... especially when it come to their health people...I COMPLETELY PUT MY TRUST TO THIS CLINIC & WOULD GLADLY GIVE THEM 100 STARS IF POSSIBLE!!!!!😉👍

Dr. Dennis took great care of my Yorkie. Safely removed all of her teeth and prepped me for all potential concerns. He took the time to answer any and all questions of mine- and was able to get Hanna in quickly (with concerns of her refusing food due to dental pain). We appreciated it! Just as he said, she has more energy than ever- and is very active and loveable now that she has her teeth fixed. Thanks!

I came to Dr. Dennis on the recommendation of one of my friends, who said he was excellent with animals. While Dr. Dennis was good with my animals, he was completely irresponsible as a professional. He wouldn't keep appointments, show up on time, return calls, or send critical medication. He's reasonable in price and handles dogs well, but he fails to do his job time and time again. After years of frustration, I finally transferred my animals' records. I regret every going to him.

Over the years we have taken dozens of our foster dogs to have their pre-adoption vet work (including spay and neuter, vaccines, checkup etc) done with Dr. Dennis and he has always done great work. Now that we also have one of our own, we take him to Hills Animal Haven as well. He and his staff is very knowledgeable, helpful and friendly and it's worth the drive out from Iowa City.

When choosing a vet it's vital to trust that you are getting the right information to make your decisions with. We trust Dr. Dennis. When I have questions, I feel that I can ask without being made to feel stupid. He answers our questions and lets us know his honest opinions and advice. I'm kind of amazed that there's less than a 5 star review with this place. This vet has time and time again went very far out of his way to make sure our pets are healthy. He is very knowledgeable and intuitive. I can't say enough good things about this vet. We have used him with a variety of animals and we get nothing but the best care. Other vets who want to start their own clinic should be looking up to this place cause this is how it should be done!

Quite simply, not only is he the finest veterinarian I’ve worked with in nearly 50 yrs as a dog owner but hisStaff-Allison-is superb. Both possess a Zen like quality. Wether Dr Dennis is doing an initial puppy exaor dealing w/end of life issues we’ve always felt like family. The “if he were my dog” approach is so very reassuring. He also demonstrates humility in his practice whenever my dogs have had “critical” issue thatRequires a specialist, such as my dog suffered a torn ACL ligament in one of her hind legs. Dr Dennis could have treated her-preformed the operation-but he referred me to a joint specialist in Ames at the University pet hospital. An expensive procedure such as that would motivate many other practitioners to have kept herIn house. In short, Mark and Allison treat us and our dogs like family and have from day one, some 15 yrs ago.

YOUR RECEPTIONIST NEEDS TO BE FIRED. HORRIBLE LADY AND HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. The vet was a nice guy. Did a great job. I brought my cat in to get spade and he priced all of our shots and d worming. He then had his receptionist finish. This was when I knew I was never coming back. She is one of the rudest ladies I’ve ever spoken to. I would love to bring my other cat in but there’s no way youll catch me dealing w that lady again.

I drive 45 minutes just to go to Dr. Dennis. Past many other vets offices. He treats my animals as his own, many times when I am in the Office or over the phone, he will say "if she were my dog, this is what I would do..." Will always continue to to bring my animals to Dr. Dennis.

We've taken two cats to him. He always gets us in quickly. We had to have one cat put down because of leukemia & he gave me as much time as I needed to say good-bye without any pressure to hurry up. He was understanding of how hard it was, & showed me the x-rays and positive FeLV test so I would understand. Neither cat seemed to mind him too much either, so that was a huge plus!

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! DO NOT RECOMMEND!! Took our dog here to get chipped. Showed up the next day to pick her up and the doctor acted surprised and said he didn't expect us to be here already. Apparently he messed up and chipped her twice. Then he decided to put her to sleep again without our consent and apparently x-rayed here four more times to locate the chip. The doctor planned to remove the second chip by making another incision and cover up his mistake without even letting us know. He said NOTHING. Mistakes happen but what he did was very immoral and rude. The only reason we found out was because we walked in during all of this. Poor poor experience. Go somewhere else.
