Went in to see Jennifer Goodlove at the Farmer's Daughter today. I am obsessed with smile face stuff and she had a sweater that I could not walk out without purchasing it was so cute. There is always so much stuff to look at and goodies to eat here. It's a must stop in and see. As we get closer to spring it will be a must stop for plants and produce.

Has plus sizes as well. Great place for plants as well. Interesting place to find other small businesses within. LOVE IT!

Jennifer was incredibly friendly and served up the best chicken salad sandwich that my girlfriend and I have ever had!! Thank you for telling us about Gordy... We ended up getting 15 dozen ears of Iowa corn from him to take home with us!

So many gorgeous flower combos , garden decor and so much more. 40$ for a huge basket, well worth it! Price depends on co trainer and variety. Picked up some excellent asparagus and rhubarb as well.

A very quaint shop and eatery. If you are lucky on a cold day you can get a table right in front of a roaring fire but most of the tables are away from the fireplace. They boast about their chicken salad sandwich and my wife liked it very much. I had a slice of cherry pie and cup of hot apple cider and it was good as well. The staff is very friendly, in fact almost too friendly, bordering on high pressure sales. I also like the real live dog that hangs out at the cash register.

We had a group meet for lunch today and our service was impeccable, complete with hot apple cider and delicious homemade food. I had their famous chicken salad along with their chicken enchilada soup. Delicious!

I went to get locally sourced honey. Unfortunately during a snow storm that was just starting, I was in a rush, the owner walked over to the back of the store, (the store is barely lit, this was around 1 pm, horrible lighting, extremely cluttered with clothes every where, just unclean overall) she grabbed a plastic honey bottle in her hand, I asked if anything was stored in a glass jar, she grabbed one of those too, did not let me inspect either of those, came to the register and rang it up, I paid and came home.Once home and in actual light, I realized the plastic one is crystallized to the point that it cannot be consumed, The bottle itself is disgusting, cap has some brown sticky stuff on it. I called her and spoke with her about refund/exchange/store credit, she offered solutions like taking it out of the container and microwaving it? but would not offer a refund or store credit because its a food item. It is sealed but according to her it can be tempered with. (how do you temper a sealed product). The owner became extremely defensive, and raising her voice.11$+ for a plastic bottle of honey is quite expensive as is. This was for a preschooler, not comfortable giving it to kids, so money and time well wasted! Never going back there again, would have liked to support local small businesses, This one needs to retire, or learn some basic customer service skills.**Edit:Be careful of leaving this business a 1 star review. It’s to the point of being pathetic. The following morning Jenifer called me, I was surprised, thinking finally an apology or some solution. Nope I was wrong, she basically repeated herself instructing me to heat the honey and consume it. Also instructing me to use “kind words”. Instead of offering a simple store credit /refund, the owner is willing to spend time/resources calling customers and leaving voicemails, resorting to passive aggressive tactics. I have blocked all future communications from this unstable business owner. Just a thought, Farmer’s daughters has 50+ ONE star reviews, I wonder how many customers have received her personal phone calls, or this attention to detail. If Jennifer was this dedicated to customer satisfaction, I doubt so many people would leave 1 star reviews.

I asked to use the bathroom before shopping and the owner asked if i just wanted to use her bathroom. I did want to look around but just needed to go to the bathroom first. After i got out and started looking around it felt like she thought i was a criminal after that, following me around and felt like she was trying to include me on one of her fb videos which i did not feel comfortable about at all. Very cluttered, potentially a fire hazard it felt like.Pay attention to the negative reviews (and the owners responses) before visiting, won’t be coming back. Got a bowl of soup to go and a small package of coffee that probably only makes one pot for $18. Should have just left without buying anything but honestly she would have been confrontational about it based on what I’m seeing in the other reviews. I’m sure she’ll respond to this review shaming me for not supporting small businesses (like she has in other negative reviews) 🙄

This small place is more then amazing! I managed to find a drink mixer, a few chicken art pieces, bought my partner some Spanish rosemary salt, and found a few shirts I will have to go back for. The owner was incredibly helpful and courteous.

First off, soup and chicken salad were good enough, I like supporting local establishments. The issue I had was the owner has a Boxer dog that runs around the parking lot. He's friendly enough but I had my French Bulldog with me because he likes going for rides. The dog jumped all over my car on both sides. Didn't notice until I got home but I have scratches up and down doors on both sides of vehicle. ☹️

The soup is EXTREMELY good here. That’s why I continue to come, despite how snobby and rude the owner is. This past time, she was talking negatively about another customer who had just left (TO US!). She should be embarrassed of her attitude as I’m sure it’s driven a lot of customers away! If I weren’t so in love with her (albeit microwaved and expensive) soup, I’d never go back simply because I can’t stand the owner. I can promise if she worked for someone other than herself, she’d be fired. She better thank her farmer daddy for that one;). Seriously though, if you can get past her personality, try the soup. It’s top notch

This place was just wonderful. We stopped in on a whim today because we always drive past and wonder about it, and we were not disappointed at all. It's a very warm, friendly little shop with an eclectic mix of goods both inside and out. Additionally they have a small soup and sandwich setup serving very tasty food. We had the chicken salad (famous for a reason!) and pulled pork with some fresh chicken tortilla soup that was perfect.Rating this shop 5 starts because there aren't any additional stars available. If you are like me and drive past this often but never stop, do yourself a favor and stop in. You will not be disappointed.

The owner is extremely rude to customers. The owner was overheard complaining to customers about other customers. The place is dirty and cluttered. Way over priced on the merchandise. There was a dog in the area people are eating and food is being prepared. Unsanitary conditions. Would not recommend this place to anyone. This place doesn't deserve a 1 rating.

I have gone there multiple times with my mother and sister. EACH time the owner had a horrible attitude or bad costumer service. When she knows you decided not to buy anything she acts like you’re a horrible person. This last time we were there she had a dog (my mother is afraid of big dogs) so when the owner said she could put him away we said thank you. And then he somehow got let back in. (Not a big deal) then the owner put him behind the counter. And to other costumers was shaming us for “not liking dogs” loudly. Which is a horrible way to treat your costumer. We have given The Farmers Daughter Market quite a few tries and we’re disappointed every time. We love supporting local and small buisness but we are done with this place.

I wish I could give 0!! Clearly these reviews are paid for. I have never in my life been treated so poorly by a business owner! My mom went in Farmer's Daughters Market to check on some sweet corn. It was not marked so she asked, thanked the lady and decided against it. As she was leaving the owner called her out (in front of other customers) and asked her how much she thought she should pay. My mom said she's seen it online, the owner then asked how much and my mom mentioned for less and started to browse at other things. The owner then replied with 'oh boy' and mom decided to leave. As we were leaving the lady came outside watching us leave, shakes her head and rolls her eyes. I'm not proud of my response to that but I was so caught off guard she would treat a customer this way. I took my mom there bc I'd been before and enjoyed the store. I will not be back and I cannot believe this lady is still in business!!

This was seven or eight years ago, but given how vividly I remember this experience (and the ongoing bad reviews), this is likely still relevant.I had gone in looking for fresh produce, but they didn't have any available. I did settle on getting a snack - the quiche - and the owner brought it over and watched me try to eat it. It was awful: the vegetables had been put into the quiche fresh, so they released a LOT of water. This meant that the "slice" of quiche oozed out all over the plate, and the eggs appeared raw and runny. Not to mention made the crust unappetizingly soggy! The owner asked me what I thought of it, and I answered honestly. She then proceeded to yell at me, saying that it had won "loads" of awards, and I didn't know what I was talking about. She finally left me alone after that, to pick at the upper edge of the crust that was actually cooked, before leaving the rest on the plate.Have not returned since.

I hope no one finds this place. This is a jewel in cedar rapids. Their foods are no joke. They are home made style and got a soul. I tried almost all foods they serve through the year and every bite I had was absolutely 5 stars out of 5 stars. They also carry flower baskets. They are not cheap compared to similar items in other nurseries though, they are beauty through the fall. I think they are worth for the price. I buy my flower baskets here for the mother's day gift. I am sure you will love them too!.

Stopped by for the first time today in hopes to try the food and potentially purchase some mums!Pros:-Super sweet shop dog greets you-Cute items and local produce to purchase-Food was yummyCons:-Not much hospitality from owner.. she said hi a few times but only while she was going somewhere else or doing other things. But then a few middle aged women came in and she looked them directly in their eyes, read the menu to them, took their order, and checked in with them after they ate. We did not receive that level of attention.-So much clutter in the shop I’m not sure how clean everything was when you look closely.-Our soup was microwaved.. I understand you can’t always have fresh soup daily, but if we’re paying $12 for a cup of soup and half a sandwich, maybe it should be getting made fresh?-Overpriced food for what you get.

This was a good eating experience. Something different for sure. The service was excellent. The food was delicious. 3 meals we got where perfect for 3 people with no leftovers. The inside was fun with all the trinkets and random things everywhere. Lots of items inside was very surprised. They had clothes, candles, oils, soaps and all kinds of things. You will just have to check it out and see for yourself.

I was so excited to see on FB that Corned Beef Stew was being served. It is a must to eat on St. Paddy's. I bought a bowl to go. So happy & bragging to my husband what a find.Much to my dismay the cost was $8.95 for mostly broth. I counted the potato's (3 pieces); corned beef (4 pieces); very little strands of cabbage. That was it. I don't mind paying but this was Not worth the $8.95. I was very disappointed. On another note, I do love the chicken salad.☘️🍀

So yummy! Second time going for lunch. I got vegetable quiche and tomato basil soup and couscous. Plus hot apple cider and chocolate frosted chocolate cake. Everything is always delicious. Its all made from scratch, and from their own garden (the tomatoes in my soup were frozen from last years pickings). Price is pretty good and service is attentive and intimate. I recommend this place to lots of people in the CR area, and you can pick up things to go. I like the atmosphere as well because its in a store with little trinkets and decorations everywhere.
