They had 10 minutes til close and I only needed 1 item and he locked the door on me and said I was too late. Why post hours your open if your going to have folks drive there for nothing and actually close before the posted time?? Just say you close at 9 then so I dont waste my gas.

Small Hy-vee for a mid-sized town with a good sized Fareway (wasted potential, could add another couple aisles) & department store sized Walmart "Supercenter" (1/3 grocery) + a mom & pop grocer. Out of the 2 mainstream grocers Hy-vee has the better prices... only get approx. 4% of my monthly groceries at Hy-vee.

The people are great but the selection of items and the prices force me to go to Walmart more

Great store and prices are competitive with other stores in town.

The pharmacy is wonderful the staff is friendly and know what their doing. The only problem I have is I wish they would open their drive thru back up it’s hard for the elderly and disabled to have To go in each time to get their prescriptions and they don’t have enough seating places for everyone.

Sooo good! It was a gauntlet of smiles and great attitudes! The checkout lady was extremely nice. So was the gentleman who filled my bags with groceries. You all keep up the good work! Minimize plastic bag use! Yay!

I cannot say enough good things about the HyVee kitchen. I had an emergency situation and they were able to throw together five breakfasts AND deliver them in about 30 minutes. Everything was hot and yummy. I love small town stores with can-do attitudes.

Had multiple bad experiences at this particular HyVee. My wife does not like to interact socially so we pick up our groceries. Our order was wrong every time. Keep in mind we do their weekly because there is very little to choose from in this town. When informed Steve the manager of our dissatisfaction, he demanded to talk to my wife, as I said before she does not like social interactions or confrontation. I explained to him I was the husband he could talk to me. He gave me a lot of Guff offered me a gift card. Upon my next visit I received the gift card from Steve, tried to use it there was nothing on it! He is probably one of the most unprofessional unqualified person I've ever seen a management position. Rest of the staff seems great! Steve's manager has failed to return any of my emails oh, and there have been several!

Friendly staff, good social distancing practices in place. Very easy to find, right off the main road. The store was clean and pretty well organized. Had little to no trouble finding exactly what we were looking for and the prices weren't too bad either.

Very small store. Didn't really have what I was looking for (place to sit down and eat). Staff was very friendly.

The store is very poorly stocked. Sale items are almost never available, as well as many items one would expect from Hy Vee. Some of the staff are friendly but the managers are not. The checkouts are nothing but a joke. And putting in a "Mother's Room" is about the stupidest idea I've ever heard of for the front of a retail store.

Went to Pharmacy drive thru, waited over 10 minutes. No service. I was running there on my lunch. I'm on a time scale. Left no medicine, called in and I started getting blamed for their incompetent behavior. Real classy. Also been a few months no refill filled. Sad place Asked if they mailed it to me, been a week now, no meds

Now they have self check out too. We had quite a few groceries and wasn't given the option to have someone to check us out or do it ourselves. No checkers. It was 930 in the evening im going to say that but still not ok. We were not the only ones that were shopping at that time. If it was a couple of items im ok with it but not a full cart.. If it cut down on the cost for groceries maybe but doesn't. Im not an employee of Hyvee and I should have the option if I want to do it myself or have an actual employee do it for me.

Tama finally got another source for groceries. Is it a good thing? Perhaps. Options are always nice. ESPECIALLY when reliable service is key in your life. Many of us in today’s world need as little hiccups as possible. Though Hyvee may have a few services a large corporate company can offer vs good old dependable grocery stores like Fareway, Ive come to realize it comes at a cost. This past weekend was a perfect example of what happens to companies once they go big. A couple of weeks ago the uTama Hyvee advised my mother she could order a cake from Grinnell Hy-Vee to be delivered to the Tama Hyvee. My mother was so happy the service was being extended to Tama residence and placed her order as instructed. Which meant it entailed calling the Grinell Hyvee Whom confirmed the order and all was right with the world. My mother made arrangments with the nursing home with a time slot as to when she would arrive for my grandmother‘s birthday visit. Having just gotten over cancer herself and my grandmother having managed to survive sepsis just two weeks ago and her dementia progressing rapidly, this was going to be a great birthday. She wanted it to be perfect. Grandma loves yellow roses, so her cake was ordered accordingly. I digress, when my mother arrived at the scheduled pick up time there was no cake. The manager in Tama had no idea to expect a delivery from Grinnell Hyvee or , as GHV worded it, Tama never picked up the cake at required pick up time. So who dropped the ball? Well According to GHV they spoke with someone at THV on Friday. So zero documentation and communication. Also if the cake was to be picked up by my mother at 10am in Tama, then why did GHV not call THV asking why they hadnt picked up the cake? They also had my mothers number. Sadly along with an ‘im sorry’ the only solution was for my mother to postpone our gathering until HYVEE could find someone to get it to TAMA. There was too much already set in motion for that to work. I know deep down how hurt she was when she had to pull a frozen cake out of hyvees freezers to present at this fortunate birthday. Did grandma know the difference? Maybe. Maybe not. We are blessed to have our loved ones together, more so through these unsure times. For that we are grateful. So the next time i want to create a timeless memory, ill know despite that smile in every aisle I’ll know with HyVee I cannot have my cake and eat it too, service AND reliablility. And Hyvee, if you read this, that was strike number three. I lived through the other two cakes. I do understand in human error, but enough is enough.

I've had wonderful experiences with thre Grinnell Hy-Vee Pharmacy. My insurance company denied the inhaler my doctor ordered, then denied the alternative she ordered, so the pharmacist contacted my doctor then contacted my insurance company all in attempt to get the prescription for my inhaler filled! Amazing customer service! Huge shout out to them! Thank you so much!

I purchased some organic oranges that had unfortunately gone bad. When I called the store to make them aware of the situation (just to have them check the other oranges to be sure they were ok) and they took down my address, and said they would drive some fresh oranges to my house. Was not expecting that - they go above and beyond for customer service!

People are great, the only reason not higher is lack of space limits product selection. Need an updated larger grocery and separate larger spirits standalone. Also a Starbucks !! I don't want to have to keep driving to Newton and Des Moines.

It is OK. Watch the dates in the food as I've found expired items on multiple occasions. Also watch country of origin labels on produce as the sign may not match the label in the fruit. The selection is slim compared to options in larger towns. I often can't find what I'm looking for and COVID has made it worse. Also, not handling COVID protections as well as some other businesses. e.g., some employees sometimes not wearing masks correctly or allowing customers to bunch up at checkout because opening checkout lanes next to each other rather than ones farther apart.
