This store is fairly new and it shows. Let’s just start with the delivery department. It’s the incompetence galore. Staff there does not want to work, could care less about helping customers and just want to see them gone. I am a pro and just canceled a $6000 order because of delivery departments incompetence. I hope that the management knows how much money they’re losing because they have unfriendly and incompetent staff at the delivery department.

nothing beats the smell of walking into menards on a spring day. i love this location and am here biweekly to by cat food, the staff is usually helpful and friendly! i love how they are open a bit later incase i need something last minute, like cat treats or dots pretzels.

Went to Menards after hitting Lowes for an estimate on materials for a new deck. Not sure who the old guy was who served us, but he was condescending and rude. If I'm about to drop $4000 on decking materials at your store, you can at least be helpful. After enduring him for about 3 minutes, I'd had enough. Heading back to Lowes, now. At least they were helpful and friendly.

Buyer beware look at your pet food expiration dates. Almost bought a bag that was expired in July 23 and then noticed a bunch of bags turned over with expired dates. And this was on many different brands. Stocker was just putting new on top of old and I brought to his attention his response was "I don't care I'm just told to put it on the shelf". Do better menards!

I was having new windows put into my home by Haggerty Windows & Siding, and it was their sales person's recommendation that I go to Menards to purchase a new patio door. They have an account with Menards, so they could pick the door up and store it for me until my windows came in from their supplier. So I ended up ordering a Menard's store brand door manufactured by Mastercraft out of Wisconsin. The door was installed by Haggerty Windows & Siding in February of 2023. In September we noticed that the thermo-pane glass in both doors was fogging. I contacted Menard's sales department, and two weeks later I still had no response as to how they were going to fix the door. I finally contacted Mastercraft directly myself. They told me they would warrant the glass; BUT they would not cover any labor involved with tearing out the old glass, installing the new glass, or any costs associated with hauling away the old glass. That seemed like a pretty lousy warranty for a door that had not been in use for more than a few months, but I considered it just another hard lesson learned. So working with Mastercraft myself, they did ship me replacement glass within a couple of weeks. I will note that Mastercraft's customer service has been excellent. And Haggerty, without it being their responsibility, has agreed to help me with installing the new glass. So, without any help from Grimes Menards, Mastercraft Mfg. and Haggerty Windows & Siding have helped me fix the quality issue with this patio door.The lesson here is: Quality may be an issue if you purchase their store brand windows and doors at Menards. You need to be prepared to take responsibility for handling any warranty related issues with their products. My experience has been that you are pretty much on your own, with very little constructive support from them.Added note: If Menards really wants to offer some customer service on removal and replacement of the fogged thermo-pane glass in their patio door, here is the order number and part number. We had bought a freezer that had stopped working and was right at our 1 year warranty mark. After speaking with staff at menards in grimes they said they could exchange it for a like product. Tom and Greg were very helpful and made the whole process very easy. Would highly recommend. So thankful they turned a stressful situation into and easy solution.

I've had several good experiences at this location. The associates are friendly and helpful and the store is clean and well stocked. We recently had our refrigerator go out and needed to get it replaced and delivered immediately. The salesperson Tom was very helpful and the assistant manager helped us get the refrigerator delivered the next day. We really appreciated their helpfulness, difficult to find customer oriented stores now.

Another great Menards location. The store is only a couple years old and it still looks brand new. Always clean and well stocked. The staff is very friendly and helpful too with whatever questions you may have. Definitely recommend!

Opened new in 2020. Very convenient to refill propane. However I noticed today that in addition to being charged $4 per gallon there is a $5 service charge that showed up for the pleasure of waiting around for someone to finally show up to do the refill. Crazy money grab, no thanks! I’ll use Pilot here out for propane refills!

Went to get a propane tank refilled today. The woman at the service counter said to wait outside by the Propane area and someone would come out. I waited 10-15 minutes and nobody came. Got it exchanged at Home Depot instead. Last time there was somebody out there at the Propane tank. Not sure what happened to the customer service at this store.

I didn’t use to be a Menards fan but I totally changed my mind!!! The 11% is great! I feel like I’m saving on everything I buy! It’s like a superstore with paint, lumber, plants, groceries and greeting cards! I love that the cleaning products are close to the front door! I can only find clear Dawn dish soap here! You have a wonderful location too! You guys are in a class of your own! Thanks for serving Grimes and the surrounding communities!!!

My dad and I are remodeling his bathroom. He's elderly and does not drive so I drive him where he needs to go. We live 50 miles away one way from this location. We came here because they were the only location that had we he wanted in stock. So we drove up there and went to the plumbing department to buy a shower kit. The salesperson was helpful but not a sales person in that department. He told my dad he didn't need a certain part that he needed to go with the the kit, that he indeed did need. We went back to the store to figure out what happened and we did need the part. The staff was more concerned about people wearing a mask than making this situation right. They confirmed that my dad was told the wrong information and the salesperson was not qualified to work in that area. That being said after 20 plus minutes of run around and speaking with the GM of the store all they could offer was a $50 discount. Priorities are screwed up at this store and the customer service is even worse.

Menards- always has whatever you are looking for plus a bunch of stuff you didn't know you needed. I appreciate the staff at the Grimes Menards, they actually seek you out and ask if you need help, or that's just me, looking lost when trying to pick out light switch covers ha.Great location, such an amazing additional to Grimes and surrounding small towns. 5 stars!

Used to go to Hickman, now I'll go out of my way to Grimes when I want to Save Big Money! This all started because supplies were running low in town so I found myself spending alot piecing together projects with supplies from different stores. The Grimes store is newer and more customer friendly. The yard and supply buildings are amazing. Very well lit and plenty of space to maneuver with a trailer. Often at the other stores I feel like I am in the way, but not here. Yard help was great. As soon as I pulled in I was asked if I needed help. I politely declined as I am grown @$$ man. However, I hadn't been to this yard before so I wasn't sure where the treated posts were. The gentlemen not only helped me locate the post but hopped on his fork lift took off and started rounding up the rest of my order. Then he helped me load it up! Saved me a ton of time. Guy was sweating by the end of it! It's been a long time since I've had that kind of help. Tossed him a $20 and cruised off into the late night mist!

Two days ago I stopped at the Grimes store, I needed to refill my propane tanks.Went to the service counter and a guy told me he would have someone meet me at the filling station, the same person was who showed up. I after filling my first tank he advised me there was a two tank limit. Ive done this before so I said there was no limit before, he said yes there is it’s store policy. I paid for my two tanks and looked all around for a sign saying there is a limit, couldn’t find anything. I went back to the service counter, the guy that filled my tanks was there and also two others, I got the guy’s attention and said that I can’t find anything about a limit,the other two heard me and they told him he was mistaken, he wanted to debate the issue, no offer to fill my other tanks was made , at that point I was quite mad and left the store. What ever happen to the customer is always right even when he’s wrong.

Reasonable prices on the items I needed. Store was difficult to deal with when they first opened but have improved. I will continue to shop there. 11% rebate is lame. I hate having to mail in a receipt every time I shop there. Don't like how they hope people won't mail it in and make an extra 11%. Update: never going back.

Staff is helpful but some items are not logically placed. I expected to find stud finders near dry walling supplies but they were near tape measures. Plumbers tape was in heating supplies. For a store so large, there isn’t a ton of variety, either. Also, the app is not helpful in locating things. I need aisle number not section of store. (App concern did not effect my rating)

This is a new store and everything is great !Only time will tell how this store turns out but for the most part Menards are like most home improvement stores it’s up to each individual and what works with them.I’m sure it’s hard to find anybody that is going to be happy with the times that we are living in now but it’s sure nice to deal with a happy and helpful employee but not today must be their Monday morning at menards, but there is some very nice people in most places and they have a few happy and helpful staff.

I really want to like this store because it is close to home but it seems like they just hired whomever was available from the Walmart across the street. We have made at least a dozen visits since they opened (due to location) in hopes it will improve with time; only to be sadly disappointed. Most of the staff is clueless & couldn't give 2 hoots about assisting you. Cashiers are the only ones who are remotely capable of any customer service. We now make the longer drive to go to Clive location instead as to get what we need in realistic timeframe. Don't waste your time going here-you will only leave frustrated!

Legit, put price tags on your stuff and you'll get 5 stars! Lady was adamant that the thing was 44.99 or 39.99 and the sign where I picked it up from was 34.99. I paid the 39.99 just so I could move on with my life.Another thing, you have a permanent 11% rebate going on right now..... the past 3 months. But i miss a mailing date by one day and "no, this deal no longer good". When the deal is continuous.... come on. Be better.BTW, last mail in rebate I sent was well over a month ago, I know 4-6 weeks....4 stars keeping itself from being 5.

Pro desk doesn't ask or offer all information on items they sell. I have to ask them since I dont know. They waste everyone's time when they don't HELP the customer. I have to pay, go pick up then find out stuff is out of stock or wrong stuff, then have to get back to front, Into building. Then wait to return and start all over again. Huge line. Not enough people to work counter.. and.... no one is social distancing while waiting. I think they need to have a better system when this happens.

This seems like a similar store to other Menards locations, in terms of what's available. While the arrangement of the store's departments may be different than some other locations, it didn't present a particularly difficult challenge. The cashiers are generally friendly.
