I found the Earl May, Garden Center at Grimes to be one of the nicest garden centers in Central Iowa. The team at this location will do anything to make sure your questions are answered and you find just the right plant or product for what you need. The plants are kept in great condition, being watered, and tidied up constantly. nice selection of perennials, herbs, annuals, shrubs, trees. The store is nicely laid out with products for birds, garden, decorations, and any kind of product. You would need to control bugs or disease. Nice selection for kids. I was approached by three different people with smiles on their faces, asking if I needed anything and I had conversations with, two of them that left me pretty happy with the answers. I left with more than I intended to purchase, but happy with the quality products. Their location is easy to find and chock-full of planting, potting and landscaping ideas.

Mark Thoms, Grimes store manager, was extremely supportive, friendly, and informative when we visited the store to prepare for my son's Eagle project. He took the time to make sure my son understood important steps in the installation of a butterfly garden, and what he would need to make it a success. Customer service is top notch and the plants are beautiful and strong, blooming much later than others we've seen locally.

I love going here and looking at all the amazing plants, and maybe sometimes adding to my collection! They have a wonderful selection of plants, planters, outdoor decor, and more. The staff are always kind and will do their best to answer your questions. I highly recommend going here!

I really enjoyed my visit to Earl May Garden Center, I was greeted with friendly welcome and I had all of my questions answered. I was able to get my mother a great Mother’s Day gift with the help of the employees who were able to repot my plants for me. I’m impressed with the organization of the store and really love the fresh smells.

Mark is a very attentive manager and makes certain every guest is greeted and needs met. Their products are well laid out and healthy. Every staff member is knowledgeable about the items in the store. Many items are unique and ideal for gifting for that hard to buy for person or occasion. They are the only nursery source I consider anymore.

I'm really glad we have an Earl May in Grimes. They have great plants and beautiful garden accessories. The people working last evening were friendly but didn't know where things were located at in the store and they were not very knowledgeable about the plants.

In the last month or so I've been into this location at least six or seven times while in the process of starting a garden. Whether it's a quick visit to get more seed starting mix or to ask questions about what I'm doing there's always been somebody who has been there to answer my questions. Everyone has been beyond friendly to the point of being recognized when I go in by certain employees. I also appreciate the respect they extend to their customers and employees by allowing them to decide if masks are somthing they wish to wear. It's also nice being able to actually see who I'm talking to without a mask or something interfering. My girlfriend and I will continue to support this company long into the future!!

The plants here are very gorgeous, but beware--they are priced as such! If you aren't prepared to spend, stay away! You'll be unable to resist! The staff was friendly and there was a nice selection of auxiliary products like pots and soils too. Give it a visit if you're looking for some beautiful new green houseplants!

I live 2 hours away from the Earl May Store but wanted to send a friend in Grimes a retirement gift plant. They not only picked a great plant, they tried twice to deliver it (first time same day) and finally called my friend and set up a time for the delivery. This was above and beyond what I have experienced else where. I have sent plants that delivery services have just dropped at the front door even in freezing weather. Mark, Deanna and the entire staff at Store 27 in Grimes are the best and deserve your patronage.

The employees here are amazing, we were helped by Mark and I can't remember the last time I've had such great service. He went above and beyond to get us what we needed and even helped us load it up. Will definitely return!

I have to commend one of your employees (Mark) for his assistance andexpertise in resolving a "lawn-fungus" issue that had decimated our yard this summer.While speaking with him over the telephone about the concerns I had regarding our "ailing" lawn, he suggested that I take photos on my smart phone and bring in some small samples of the lawn itself.When meeting Mark in person he stated that it appeared our lawn had a "fungus" issue and suggested that we try a "Lawn Fungicide" product and repeat the treatment every two weeks until resolved.His suggestion and your product "INFUSE-Systemic Fungicide for Turf and Ornamentals" worked GREAT! My lawn showed significant growth and recovery within 30 days.Thanks again for Marks assistance ! We'll be back again soon!Ed

I wore my mask to protect staff and other costumers. EmployeesdEmployees werecwere notcnot wearing masks. They were not cleaning carts, checker didn't use hand sanitizer. Unmasked clerks walked right near me in areas where there was plenty of room. We are experiencing a pandemic... That said, the merchandise was nice and everyone polite. I usually enjoy Earl May...but I expected masks and Covid sanitation.
