Sally’s is a must when you come to Forest City! Nothing fancy, here. It’s a storefront diner with down home food. She serves breakfast and lunch, most days. But check before you go to be sure she’s open. I had the bacon cheeseburger (added tomato and lettuce), along with hot French fries. My wife had the grilled chicken breast with a side of egg salad. It was all cooked fresh, served hot, and absolutely delicious. We topped off the meal with pies and freshly made decaf coffee. I had the strawberry and my wife had the coconut. She makes all her own pies. Definitely TRY THE PIE! Highly recommended. Bring cash. I’ll try to add updated photos.

Old school diner in the middle of "main street" Forest City. The service was great and quick and the place is quaint.I had their hot beef special which was ok. White bread with some meat and gravy over it with some mash. The coconut pie to finish lunch was good though and made the experience worthwhile.I'll come back and try something other than the hot beef next time. Thanks for feeding me.

A trip to Forest City would not be complete without a meal at Sally's! Breakfast is traditional fare, but you can ask for a change up and get it how you like. It's served with a smile, good conversation, and plenty of refills for your cofffee or tea. The location on Forest City's main street, in the old bakery, gives old-timer's a reason to chat about the "good old days". It's definitely one of the bright spots left downtown.

Went with a friend for the first time recently. The food was good, however, the waitress was completely unprofessional and negative. From the moment we walked in to the moment we were finished with our meal and ready to leave, she constantly displayed a terrible attitude with very poor word choices. We were quite shocked that this lady was employed after what we were witnessing. I hope this place can find someone else who would better represent this locally owned restaurant. The waitress made the entire dining experience very uncomfortable for us and her behavior was very distracting. We even witnessed a customer get up and walk out before ordering any food! Also, the menu selection was pretty limited and on top of that, they were out of a few items which made the options even more limited than they already were. On the plus side, what we did order was good.

The waitress was nice and that's about it. My breakfast guest, a veteran, was very disappointed in the 2 tiny pieces of ham and green pepper in his "deluxe hashbrowns", he took it up to the owner and I have never witnessed such disrespect and outright viciousness to a customer, in my life. My guest left his plate and walked out and she had the audacity to charge me for his uneaten food! I would not recommend this place, EVER!

Homestyle coooked lunches & breakfasts at the best sandwich shop in Forest City Iowa. Sally makes 8-10 pies every morning, Be sure to try her roast beef sandwich with gravy. It's a daily special. But order the pie with your meal, because here, the pies fly! Only Open weekdays!

Pies are extremely expensive. Excellent but not worth $45 for 2 pies. (Chocolate cream & Fresh Strawberry). Maybe prices were a bit inflated due to the Winnebago Rally? Should have asked price before ordering...my mistake.

The food is so good and the owner is awesome.....she makes me a special breakfast sandwich....I love it. The waitress in the morning is so good. She always fills up my coffee cup. The restroom is clean also. Just good ole fashioned cooking the way mom used to cook.

Just been there on July 20 for my birthday breakfast; had Hashbrown Deluxe and Pecan Pie. Absolutely loved both of them! However, I felt sort of uneasy when I saw the staff not wearing masks; they were, however, thoroughly sanitizing tables. Mind you, only cash is accepted.

The food was just like I would make it at home. No frills. Sides are extra but everything is priced low enough that it's OK. My only real objection is the smell of some kind of cleaning product. Clean is good but the smell is not inviting when mixed with the aroma of food and old building.

The first thing I noticed when walking in is an almost overpowering smell of mildew and decay. I was gruff lyrics told that there were seats in the back. When my party say the table was cleared off but dirty. The server wiped down the table and tool our drink order. They were served in a comically small glass that I assumed was for breakfast juice and not ice tea or coke. Upon browsing the small and vague menu, I discovered that not only was my half pint of ice tea going to cost $2.00, but that I was only entitled to one free refill. Shocked, I ordered the special of soup and sandwich. What I recieved was a very modest portion of egg salad on plain white bread. Apparently, "fixins" are extra and must be requested. The soup was served in as ramakin. This place is a dump. They were running out of everything and made us change orders 2 times. I'm glad I'm just visiting Forrest City, because the dining options are limited and I would hate to have to count this as one.

Yummy small town cafe. Have been here for breakfast many times when we were in town for Winnebago service. Reasonable prices, friendly staff, home cooking.
