Scharnberg is a great campground for the family. Slow speeds are enforced, making us feel better about letting our kids ride and walk to the playground or beach. They have a shower, concession stand, and air compressor at the beach. Many lots have full hook-ups and mature trees.

Nice little area to unwind and dip in the water or take a paddle boat out. Very out of the way kind of place and so is very quiet. Area for the kids to play if they don't want to swim. There is a a walking trail that goes all around the small lake for those that want some fresh air. Also a Great picnic area.

This place is so awesome! It is well maintained and has a lot to offer. The host/hostess are very helpful & friendly. Getting a site is easier in the fall than it is in the summer, bc it is so popular. There is no reserving, so you would have to bring a vehicle, tent, or your camper early to mid week & pay for that time, if you wanted to be guaranteed to have a spot for the weekend. We will be back again with grandkids and maybe even rent a cabin for a family camping weekend!

There couldn't be a better camp area than our beloved Scharnberg! The online booking seems to be hard, but that's an issue at a much higher level. Get here on a Monday if you want a spot or book it online way ahead. No parks have drive-up availability always anymore, so plan ahead.

Love camping here! It's a very safe campground/park! Clean, well maintained, and definitely family friendly! The playground is nice! There is tons of area for kids/family to play, swim, fish, and ride bikes! Sites are good sized, with room for 2 vehicles to park at each. Each has a firepit, some have cement pads, all have electric & water, some have sewer, and there is also a tent area. The shower house and restrooms are well kept, cleaned each dayA 5mph speed limit is enforced throughout the campground, which is great especially for families with kids!

This is a great spot for camping, fishing, swimming, celebrations and to get away for a little downtime. It is well-kept and has been modernized. I have never camped here personally, but have had friends and family who have given great feedback. There is a cabin available if you prefer more privacy or don't have a camper, etc. There's a really fun little playground area as well. Accomodations for fishing, with a little spot to buy bait, etc. My 13 yo son loves to fish here with friends & I have no reservations about leaving them for a couple hours to get away from their screens and get "back to nature" 😁 Definitely recommend!!

We love camping here! The camping hosts are friendly. The campground is clean and quiet at night. Our kids love going to the beach and fishing off the dock. They have paddle boats to rent and a tiny store to purchase worms, candy etc.

A very nice well kept park. Parents should teach their kids campground courtesy. As not to walk through other peoples campsites. But that isnt the campgrounds fault. Showers are scalding HOT though. And the cable in site #3 didnt work. Not enough to bother me. Im camping anyways. I would say it is the nicest campground I have camped in for a few years.

Nice camp area with many lots with concrete patios. Great swim area with water sports rentals. Showers and restrooms were well kept. Neither cable or wifi worked, but not exactly a necessity for camping. We loved our trip and will be coming back often.

Cute little pond perfect for a quick trip to the beach. Stand-up paddle board, canoe, paddle boats, and kayaks all rent for $5/ hr (including life jacket). Other concessions are also super reasonable. We aren't campers but the facilities look really nice for that sort of thing.

Nice clean place with a lake and water activities which makes for a good view as well. Some spots have full hook ups and others just cable and water. There's plenty of public showers for the tent campers to refresh. A concession stand for the small forgotten things,as well as wood to burn and ice available

Great place to go to the beach. Rent paddle boat, canoe, or kyac for $5 an hour. Grandson, daughter, and I had a great time on the paddle board.Playground: Playground under tree cover and my grandson loves it.Restrooms: Flush toilets and showers on site.Dog-friendliness: Take our dog most of the time. But no dogs allowed on beach.Picnic area: Many areas with tables to picnic on and many grills to cook on.

Here working from dsm till November. Very nice clean park enjoyed camping there. A little false advertising about free WiFi when I get there there is a fee. And wasn’t very happy when I came back from the laundry mat and someone paid to stay on my site which I had till 5pm and if I wanted to stay another week it would be my option since I occupied the site. How can you pay for a site that is still occupied when you are suppose to have a camper or tent on it to hold in the first place. So I took my business else where!

My family has been a part of Scharnberg Park for decades and has been instrumental in it's continued development into an outdoor gem in Clay County. The campground is very safe with a community of regular campers that watch out for each other and the children, making it safe for the kids to get a little freedom.... riding bikes, fishing, swimming, enjoying the expansive playground and basketball courts. The pond offers a large sandy beach; clean waters for swimming and floating; and kayaks, paddle bikes, canoes, and paddle board for rent. The concession stand carries a variety of snacks and camping necessities that are often forgotten at home at reasonable prices. Fishing on the pond is awesome and can be accessed through the fishing pier, rental watercraft, numerous rock jetties, or personal boats (trolling motors only, please!). The park offers three modern cabins of different sizes to accommodate small to large groups, modern and very clean bath and shower houses, and a shelter house with all the amenities you'll need for your next party. Sunday breakfasts, conservation programs, and family events also take place throughout the camping season, so watch the website and plan your trip to Scharnberg!

We were needing a place close to Spencer to attend the Clay County Fair and found this wonderful campground within 8 miles. Very clean, quiet, and next to a lake.

No sign explaining to check with host to get spot. Was always a nice park first come first serve. Drive all the way over to hope for a spot with sewer and see the one is open that we used last year 3 times. Staying a week at a time. Get told it’s reserved and if we. Wanted a different spot we would have to leave by Thursday.had to wait to tell us this after we parked. Won’t be back again.

The lake is filled with alge, lots of turtles are dead, a few fish. You only get a couple channels when you use cable. Bathroom was a mess. But is was quiet.

Very nice park. We use it when we are in the area. People nice and friendly. Only negative comment was that we wanted sewer and they said non available. Then for 4 nights we watched a full hookup site across from us that was never used
