This place is the best veterinary clinic. I brought my dog in for routine vaccinations and when Jessica opened Lassie’s mouth for the oral vaccination, she noticed her bad breath. She looked inside and saw a stick wedged between her back teeth across the roof of her mouth. It had obviously been there for a while and was quite infected. The stick was removed and antibiotics were prescribed. I truly believe they saved Lassie from a very serious illness. Lassie is now the poster child for why we shouldn’t let dogs chew on sticks 😂👏👏

I brought my dog into Scott County Animal Hospital for hip evaluation. The staff was informed and listened to me, respecting my experience as a breeder and with multiple dog sports. Everything to do with the evaluation was explained very clearly and I, and my dog, felt very comfortable with everyone involved. I was very nervous as this dog had never been sedated prior to this, but they assured me that they were very proactive in heading off any problems and were prepared to deal with any that may arise. Everything went well! I would definitely recommend the team at Scott County Animal Hospital!

This is HANDS DOWN THE BEST VET CARE. I’m not exaggerating in the slightest. I’ve been coming here since I was a kid and have literally never had a bad experience. We’ve put 3 dogs down here and the entire staff reached out and were so incredibly kind during such hard times. I refuse to go to any other vet.Specifically Andrés, a member of their hospital staff, is AMAZING and very knowledgeable. He went above and beyond to make sure we knew our cat Millie was okay after a procedure she was under anesthesia for. We were worried and he made sure she was loved and cared for. Called to check in multiple times, and talked to both of our cats soothing them during the entire visits. When I see Andrés I know my cats are safe and loved in his care.The front office staff is ALWAYS so nice and friendly. Sara and Colene are so easy to talk to!Dr. Sampson is so knowledgeable and I trust her completely with our cats.Nikki is another great staff member, she gave us great advice as well.You really can’t go wrong here. I can’t say enough great things about this place and I’ll forever be thankful for the care they have given our pets over the years.

Scott County Animal Hospital is without a doubt, the most caring and experienced group of people who will treat your pets like family. We have been clients for 31 years and are always amazed at how each and every staff member goes out of their way to be sure that you and your pet have the best service. A couple of recent experiences that are an example of their outstanding care: we were scheduled to leave for Florida when another kennel we had booked told us they couldn't accommodate our dog. With less than an hour and a half until our flight left, Scott Co Animal Hospital arranged to board our dog (who has problems with strangers so is a little high maintenance) for five days. Not only was our dog well cared for, but Jessica took the time to send me a text and photo so that I felt good about the last minute switch. He loved his visit and has calmed down considerably when he goes in and actually enjoys the people there.The second thing that occurred recently was a back injury to our doxie. When I called I was able to get in right away and have tests and treatment within a short while. Doctor Anne and Doctor Jennifer have been outstanding with our pets and take the time to explain and answer questions. The techs and other staff follow up and make sure that your pet is doing well after any injuries or procedures.Our dogs have been like family to us and we would not entrust their care to any other practice because Scott County Animal Hospital has the best, most skilled and caring people working there. Thank you for all the kindness you have shown us over the years.

We have felt welcomed and at home at the office. They are taking great care of our 3 cats. They go above and beyond in their care. But they not only care for our cats but they care about us. In the past two months I have had to send to dogs to heaven that were the love and compassion of my daughters and I. The doctors and staff at SCAH have gone above and beyond what the majority of people would expect or even dream of in care for our animals. They took the time to explain all that was diagnosed and laid out the options no matter the chance of success of each option. Last week we had to say goodbye to our beloved Edwina, who lost the battle against a fast moving cancer. The doctors and staff did everything they could to extend her life and also make her as comfortable as possible in her last days. I cannot say enough how much I admire their dedication to my family members who are no longer with us, and the respect they showed them after they were gone. If you are in doubt of where you need to be in the time of need for your loved one, do not think twice about being right here at SCAH. I want to thank them from the bottom of my heart. Although Bella and Edwina are no longer here, I know they left this world knowing they were loved by all at SCAH.

Our two dogs are an important part of our family and we completely trust Scott County Animal Hospital with their care.Recently our clumber spaniel developed an issue that caused her great pain. We were able to get her in right away for Dr. Jennifer to see her immediately and address the issue. Thanks to her and her caring staff, our sweet girl is able to get some rest.(Dr. Emily was the first vet our clumber met after we adopted her. Our dog absolutely loves Dr. Emily and always rushes in to see her.)

From the front desk associates to the Docs, Scott County Animal Hospital is by far the number 1 choice in pet care. Doctor Ewoldt is one of the most caring veterinarians I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. She saved my boy Brodie's life when he was run over, by expeditiously getting him to Ames for the care he needed. She has also helped navigate a cancer diagnosis for my girl Mable. The way she treats Mabel, who is excruciatingly skittish is a testimonial to how caring she is. Iowa Needs more vets like her.

I am torn. I called this clinic in the Spring when I had two fox kits with mange living in my yard. While they weren't able to directly help, they were willing to speak with me and share what they could. I ended up trapping one and a rehabber nursed it. I was grateful and asked if I could do a meet and greet. I want a vet that cares about all animals and will work with me. I do TNR also. I have had cats my whole life and am pretty knowledgeable, but not a doctor. I sent indoor pets records over. I made an appointment, but was told that I could not come in with my animals due to COVID, a year later or more, when other vets were.. Their choice, I get it. I want to be able to come in with them. At the time my senior cat was in distress and I was having trouble getting him in anywhere. I found another vet that let me come in with him, that took care of him and he is fine now. I called again several weeks ago and was told that I wasn't in their system?! I guess I was purged. I sent over the records again and no word back. I sent and email on their website and they responded quickly, called me. I was told that someone left me a message, but I sure didn't get it. I was then told that I could only bring one cat at a time. What?! It was just a meet and greet, they are fine, healthy. Never heard that before, they go together to other vets. I take choosing the right medical partner for my animals seriously. People have jobs, working in multiple trips seemed unnecessary to me. They backpeddled on it but then they wanted to directly contact my current vet and the humane society where I adopted my kitten recently. I had sent them all records (I get copies regularly)! I like my current vet, she is loving and kind, but she is super busy and it has become more difficult to get appointments with her. I wanted to establish another relationship but don't want to anger her or hurt her feelings. Plus, I believe in serious matters, getting other opinions is smart, for humans and animals. I read the reviews, most seem very good, but my first impression leaves me hesitant.They did reach out quickly after I posted this.

The Staff at Scott County Animal Hospital are wonderful, our puppy is now 6 months old. From our first well check visit, to her recent surgery/spay we have been pleased. They pay attention to you and your pet, communicate well and keep you informed, even with at text when our puppy was done with her surgery and letting us know she was doing well. So happy with our decision to have our pet taken care of by this great group of people.

When my newest addition needed a preventive surgery and spayed she was great at letting me know how everything was going and texting me through out the day. Could not get into our vet completely booked, called another in our town (Be jaze) and their vet was out of town. Be Jaze recommended Scott County animal clinic. They got us in and treated our dogs sore that broke open sent pictures to our regular vet to follow up. Very caring.

The staff here is top notch. They are friendly, knowledgeable and caring. I called them to report my dog wasn’t acting right and needed to be seen right away. They did not hesitate and were able to accommodate. I brought him in and they determined he had gotten into some poison. They were able to determine what he had gotten into and saved his life after his heart stopped. Today he acts as though nothing ever happened. Whenever we visit they always ask how Joey is doing. I would recommend this vet clinic to anyone and I'm a customer for life.

I've been taking my pets there for over 30 years now and they have never treated my pets with anything but respect and love. OUTSTANDING clinic and recommend 100%!  I've been a client at Scott County Animal Hospital for over 25-years and have nothing but great things to say about Dr. Ann Sampson and the entire staff. They take as much time as needed during each visit and have never rushed through an appointment, even if we've been squeezed in on a busy day for an emergency visit. When I've had to call after hours and reach the answering service, every single time the doctor on call contacts me almost immediately. It seems like they love our animals as much we do. During our visits, Bob (Labrador Retriever) is super-hyper-excited-happy (to put it mildly!) and can be hard to handle. From the minute we walk in the door, everyone has a smile on their face and does whatever they can to help Bob - from putting extra rugs down when he thinks the floor is too slick to walk on, to giving him extra treats, and to actually sitting on the floor and hugging him while I'm checking out/paying. I have complete trust in the doctors and staff and don't know what we would do without them. This is a clinic where it is clearly evident that everyone truly cares about providing the very best care possible, along with having unbelievable compassion and showing great kindness to both animals and their humans.
