It’s hard to write this review because my wife and I got our first sweet puppy from Dog House Etc. Her name was Sugar, Poodle Bischon mix. She came right up to my wife and we knew that was our dog. She lived 16 really good years without any significant health problems until the end of her life. I don’t know what magical combination you found when Sugar came into existence, she was the best dog we have ever known. Sugar was with us in good times and bad. She had many adventures with us and we cherish every memory of her. I am grateful and thankful we found Dog House.

Very pleased with my Morkie puppy. the owner was very helpful and answered all questions puppy was given a bath before I took him home and I was given some dog food I would definitely buy from them again a very good experience

We love our Golden Doodle Wr named her Lola And she has a great personality. She had our hearts and even the groomers love her . Thank you Sheldon Dog House. Luke and Laura You have been so friendly and courteous to us .

Got a cat from them and was told that he didn’t have ear mites and had been checked for them. Get him home and look in his ears. What do I see? EARMITES.

I love the Dog House very friendly and an at go e feeling. I have purchased many supplies and pets from there. The family that 92nd it are very helpful and do anything they possibly can to make sure you have what you need and are taken care of all the way. I have 3 per rats from her and she has been more than generous helpful and kind from day one. She always answers my questions and is very helpful any time I call or come in. She does everything she possibly can to make sure my pets have all their needs met. I am truly grateful to her for all of this and only go through her for my pets needs

They have wonderful pets (puppies and kittens), birds, fish of all kinds. Very helpful and knowledgeable and do not pressure you to buy anything. Love this place. Our families have bought puppies and fish here several times over the years. Always the first place grandkids want visit when they come to Sheldon. Of course my granddaughter and I just had to buy a puppy (Poo-Chin) so cute. So go to the Dog House anytime your in Sheldon, IA

I absolutely love this place! The employees are very friendly and offer amazing advice as well as information on the pet you're looking to get! The animals are all so cute and are looking for new safety and loving homes! So if you don't have a pet or are looking to get one, stop by this place and get one to take home to love on!

The owners are very knowledgeable about the products and their animals. I have been going in that store my whole life. The animals seem to be well taken care of too. Prices are just a little high, but not bad. Friendly staff

Very friendly staff, always have had good person to person experience. Be aware of the experation dates on any item. I've found medication for fish that have been over 5 years expired as well as dog food and other items. Also I've asked them to hold a pet for me before and offerd to pay prior to picking it up, I was nicely told it would'nt be necessary to pay, that they would give me thier word that they would not sell the pet and hold it for me. Only to have came back on the arranged date to pick it up,(2 days later) to find it had been sold the same day. I was told by the owner they would hold it for me. I was very upset about this.

First time visitor (passing through town and surprised I'd never noticed it before), I will say the store is worthy of a 4 star; however, an incident while at checkout reduced my rating to a 3 ... and, sadly, I won't go back.The good : the owner (I think) and the young man at checkout were very nice. The store had a decent selection and fair/reasonable prices (especially for a locally owned shop).The not so good: When I first opened the door to enter the store, there was a German Shepherd laying right inside the door. This surprised me; but, I own 3 dogs (one being a GSD/border collie mix) so I let her smell me and gave her some loving. She came up to me a couple more times while I was browsing and nuzzled for affection.At checkout, the young man suggested I get 2 more hooves for the sale price. So I stepped over to the hooves and as I reached for them, the GSD came out of nowhere and bit me in the knee .... and I hollered! The young man asked what happened and I said she bit me in the knee. He apologized. Even said she'd done that to a child once.I wish now I had told him to put her away (because he didn't ). It took awhile for my credit card to process (fax machine) and I was a nervous wreck. ... the GSD pacing by my legs (he suggested I pet her)....and I'm trying not to cry (which I did once I was in my vehicle).Here's the thing. .. the GSD didn't break the skin (red marks turning to bruises) ... it was warning bite. But why? I did nothing to upset her. And honestly reasons are pointless. She did do it ... and now I'm a nervous mess because I have never been bit/lunged at by a dog before.I strongly suggest the owner not allow her to be in the customer area anymore. The next person might not be so willing to leave with only an apology.

The owner of this facility owns and supplies his own pet store. Stover has been named one of the worst puppy mills in the country, twice, due to his violations."DO NOT ADOPT A PUPPY HERE :(
