Clean, however I did see a manager approach my hard working cashier and openly harass her about a break. Seriously, the rudest upper management personnel I've even encountered. If I were Home Depot Operation Manager.. on the spot termination. Don't humiliate your staff. So unprofessional. The store was Stellar!

Rob Chaney was AWESOME. Saw I seemed a little lost, brought me over and got me to exactly what I was looking for and gave me a lot of good information as well. Highly recommend him if you’re looking to get fast and friendly service!

This was the worst store I have ever been in the worst customer service, extreme prices. This is the Home Depot on Southeast 14th and Des Moines!I went to buy some small wooden pegs. All the employees were standing around, talking, finally by 13 employees pointed me in a different direction than there were no cash registers open. The employees were still standing around talking. I got in line at the customer service desk to try to pay for my three dollar wooden pegs , the customer service employee at that point tried to tell me I had to go to a cash register next time just horrible

I have never had such a hard time actually giving people money. They did not have the self check out working and there was no one at the contractor desk and after going to the front/service desk and waiting for employees to talk to each other for almost 10 minutes I asked if anyone could take money and was told that these are not really registers and I need to go back to the other end of the store. No wonder theft in Iowa is so high it takes to long to pay for anything. Do not waist your time talking to these people call corporate in Atlanta where they know how to take money. Iowa does not have a labor shortage they have a employee always talking to each other issue.

If you need an employee to assist you with anything go to west Des Moines waiting 15 min + for someone to show up at the paint department while employees walk by you isn’t a great look

A lady was asking customers if they were interested in a furnace and air conditioning servicing, 1 @ $59.00. I said sure. The service man came and spent a few minutes with the furnace, then came to me and said he had to shut me down. My furnace was unsafe and had cracks on the back wall. I had him show me and it did not look like cracks to me. Later I get a phone call from Home Depot offering a quote for a new furnace. I got the quote. Few hours later another $500 was taken off if I didn’t need financing. The next day they are calling again saying they can replace the furnace now. I said I wanted to shop around. Called another furnace place and had them service my furnace. They hooked up a machine telling me that I had no carbon monoxide leaking and everything was safe. So why didn’t Home Depot run this? They just shut my furnace off and tried to rush me into buying a new furnace.

There was a lack of selection, for what I needed (child safety cabinet locks). You can buy one or 4 (just 2 would be a good option). Not enough people around to help).

The employees are always helpful, and things are usually pretty easy to find. If you want to find something on your own, the app is super helpful, also.

We went to the store to return some paint that didn't fit our color. The customer service said that it's not returnable, but we asked if we can change the color. There is an employee named Rob, that likes mash potatoes, 😂 that helped us mix the colors and match the color that we need. This guy was very helpful and professional, we giving credit to him. He is the best...👍

I know I would hate being reviewed by me.....anyway worked out of town the other day and met up with the person I was working with there. I don't know if that's his preferential store or just because it seemed fairly close to where we are working but I'm personally Menards guy. Home depot's okay but I don't know where stuff is like I do in Menards and I don't know I'm probably not fair judging the place...... They actually only had like 12-6 inch lags and we needed 18. I went and got somebody from a front and they called somebody over and they didn't have anymore. That means we had to change our approach. Not a Huge deal but.....

On Sunday October 1st, 2023 I went up to pick up 120 sheets of OSB. I am a contractor and I am used to having others in line in front of me when I arrive. This time was different; there was only 1 forklift operator working and I had to wait longer than I thought I should have..I was getting very irritated. My foreman was with me too. He was getting quite irritated as well. I decided to hunt down a store manager, when I found him I was just mad and expressed myself in not an appropriate way(cussing).. he and his managers immediately began looking for my OSB. Well you see I didn't make the ticket out correctly and pay for it, so home Depot didn't pull it... that's my fault. But they went straight to work, they had me loaded within 15 minutes. Thanks to Max, Rob, Jeramie, and Joel.This is where my day went worse. A rear shackle bolt was broken with no way to move my trailer without blowing out the tire and possibly dumping the load. I bought a 20 ton hydraulic jack and started to try to fix it...parked in their rear loading dock. I felt horrible, but Joel (asst. Store manager), said here we can help...he couldn't help physically... liability reasons.. I was super grateful for the tool.But he let me and my foreman use a sledgehammer. After about 30 minutes we finally got bolt out. He even stayed outside as long as he could.Then I went inside and bought the grade 8 bolt and hardware to fix issue. Without Joel, Rob, Max, and Jeramie my whole day would have been lost. All because of my mistakes. Every contractor should shop at this Home Depot on SE 14th Street Des Moines IA. They are above and beyond great employees to Home Depot and to every customer. Even when the customer is in the wrong.So much thanks!!!!Miller's Roof Restoration LLCChristian Miller

These employees on this Homedeopt are always in a mood and never look like they are happy to attend the customers. I’ve been to many Home Depot’s and always shop here. This is the first time I encounter horrible customer service. You can tell they don’t enjoy their job. This place has terrible service.

Went in to get blinds for my sliding deck door. Did have questions; however, the two people were too busy helping one person and didn't bother acknowledging me. I decided I wasn't important enough to acknowledge, so I picked out what I thought would best fit and left. The man at the self check out was nice.

Purchased an appliance that was supposed to be delivered/installed. They left and wouldn’t install, so I had someone else do it and the brand new dishwasher doesn’t even work. After dealing with Home Depot for almost two weeks I’m still waiting for them to figure it out. Definitely don’t shop at the southside HD, even the store manager couldn’t figure simple tasks out.

Go ahead, waste your money on an install of upright washer and dryer. Shipping rod not removed, good thing I noticed it, water hoses put on backwards so I now have to pull it back out and switch, dryer hose fell off where mounted to wall when started. Poor poor excuse for an install.

Horrible customer service, I wish there was enough character space to explain what I went through. It seems as though Home Depot thinks they don’t need customer service/experience to profit since they don’t care about your time or money. I spoke to several managers and will never step foot in this store again…

Buyer beware if you want to buy countertops from these people. Tried to buy a solid surface countertop, they go on sale about every other week. They talk like they work with a local counter shop for installs. "just place the order, pay for it and the measuring person would be in contact to come out and measure, then it's about 3-4 weeks after that when they do the install". Well it's not a local company, they are out of someplace in Wisconsin, it took them two days to make the first call, and then a week later and a couple of frustrated emails to McDermott Top shop, I got a reply that they would be out in about 4 weeks to measure, which would then start the clock for the actual install, at least another 4 weeks. After calling and expressing my disappointment to the Top Shop, they said oh yeah, it's common problem . The whole experience from placing the order, reading all of the rules and the agreement that once placed it could not be canceled and them putting out several thousand dollars up front, to find out it would be a couple of months before the countertop would be in place was horrible. Super sale prices on things that may or may not get delivered isn't worth it. Call your local top shop. I talked to one today, they will measure tomorrow and I will begin the process of trying to cancel this order with Home Depot. I don't make it a practice to do negative reviews, but this one deserves it

Honestly I forgot why I don’t come to Home Depot. A package was lost and then I had to deal with the rude lady. (mable) at the customer service. Which she said it would be a while. Then some other lady showed up and went searching in the store for the specialOrder and finally found it wasn’t there l. So that’s the 2 stars. However mable needs to understand that it’s her job to help the customer and not be a rude @$$ person
