Our first time at Paws and Pints and we didn’t know what to really expect! Our pup, Daisy-May is a pretty timid, but friendly girl. She’s a little over a year old, and she’s been in our lives only since this past September, but we thought to try and get her out of her comfort zone and see if socialization could benefit her.She was definitely a bit timid at first, but as the night progressed she truly came into her own! We were so happily surprised!!!The service at Paws and Pints is also wonderful. We arrived and unfortunately had forgotten Daisy’s immunization records, so we did have to drive back home and come all the way back to enter. We were so thankful the front desk rep was patient with us during this time. The attendants in Paws and Pints are also very attentive. Although it was our first time there, I thought it’d be best to have an extra eye on Daisy, but in the future, I feel like I could be laxer enough to let my dog roam without my extra supervision. The food was great too, a little pricey, but for bar food I was impressed.Overall, this place has a wonderful atmosphere. This is a place where if you love dogs and a cold drink, you’re absolutely in luck.

Dog Park:The park supervisors deserve recognition for their dedication and hard work. I observed them intervening multiple times to ensure the safety of all the dogs. However, despite the website mentioning a separate small dog park, it appeared that dogs of all sizes were happily mingling together.Restaurant:The Kicked-Up Honey Cheese Curbs at the restaurant are absolutely delicious. Although, during our visit, the waitress accidentally spilled water near our dog and seemed surprised that there was a dog under the table. Perhaps she was having an off day.As of 4/18/2024Yet another fantastic visit! The staff here are exceptional, always attentive to your dog's needs. My only gripe? Some dog owners neglect to clean up after their pets.Restrooms: Very clean!

The price shocked us at first, I'll be honest. When you experience it though, you understand. The atmosphere is electric! The kids loved seeing all the different types of dogs/breeds. Well staffed and pet owners were very respectful of their own dogs. I highly recommend it!!

My dog (pug mix) LOVED running in the outdoor park with the big dogs! I was most impressed when a scuffle broke out between 2 or 3 dogs and an employee and owners quickly defused the situation. 👍🏻 That was my biggest concern about Paws and Pints. He devoured his sweet potato and turkey meatballs! I loved my burrito bowl, but needed a doggy bag. 😁Playground: Lots of fenced outdoor play area. With a dog/people park with lots of distractions!Dog-friendliness: It's a dog utopia!

What an incredible place! I put in a request to have one built in my state! Ours dogs loved it, you can tell the owners care and put their sweat and tears into it. The grounds crew were outstanding and knew exactly what to do if dogs got a little too playful to make sure everyone enjoys their time. The options are endless for entertainment for your four legged friend, or let them run with their canine friends while you chill watching a sports game in the bar. They truly have thought of everything; I don’t even drink and felt welcomed and well accommodated for. If we lived in the state we would be here daily.

Paws and Pints is a wonderful place to bring your dog for safe and well maintained play. Dogs are allowed indoors in a play area, in a small fenced in fetch area, and a large outdoor play area. In the winters there are great opportunities for pups to duck outside to play then come indoors to warm up. The food is fine--bar food. Big TVs that play sports events can be found indoors and outside. Dogs can be on leash on the restaurant's patio or covered patio. They are not allowed indoors at the bar.Dog-friendliness: Very dog friendly

The entrance area was pretty busy and felt a bit overwhelming with so many dogs for our first visit (one of the first dogs we saw had diarrhea and the owners didn't even seem to notice) but thankfully the grassy area was open so we went there. It was massive and spacious and my dog enjoyed it.It's a bit expensive: $10-15 to bring your dog for a day and typical bar prices but as an occasional day out I would recommend. Also echoing other reviews, be sure to get the app and upload your vaccine records BEFORE the visit as it's mandatory!Dog-friendliness: Dog friendly- be sure to download the app and upload vaccinations before visiting

My dog has been pretty shy and started opening up once we came to Paws n Pints! Nice relaxed atmosphere, bartender man was rude to me twice, but that was my only negative interaction!Dog-friendliness: The dog attendants keep an eye out for trouble and help keep the peace!

My lulu and I really enjoyed paws and pints. It was a bit overwhelming at first but he always takes a little bit to adjust and get comfortable. Make sure to download the app and vaccine records before you get there. Had a couple cold ones and a few hours in the sun

Super clean environment with friendly staff who are knowledgeable about doggy behavior!! I enjoy coming here and seeing all the dogs and their owners. The Stray Bar has never let me down either with a nice variety of beverages. The food is tasty and with reasonable prices. They even have meatballs specifically for your furry friend. I cannot wait for the The Vet Clinic to open up too! :)

We love taking our dogs to this park to get groomed and to play with there doggie friends. Blake, Bella, and Bambi love when they have there special events and they get special treats or even new toys to take home. I would definitely recommend this place to my friends.Dog-friendliness: They treat your dog as if it was there own and let’s you know if something is off with them or if they have had any issues.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Paws & Pints, a dog restaurant and bar that offers a fantastic indoor and outdoor facility for dogs to play, relax, and enjoy themselves. As a dog lover, I was thrilled to find a place that caters to both humans and their furry companions. Overall, my experience was highly enjoyable. The food menu offers a great selection of dishes that left me and my canine companion drooling for more. The menu features a variety of options, including canine-friendly meals and a range of human dishes. I especially appreciated the daily and monthly specials, which provided refreshing and discounted drink options. The indoor space at Paws & Pints was spacious and well-maintained, providing a comfortable and inviting environment. It was perfect for socializing with my dog, even during the hot weather. However, it's worth mentioning that the main backyard area, the larger outdoor space, is only accessible after 2pm on weekdays. While this may inconvenience some visitors, the space provided was still more than adequate, offering ample room for dogs to run and play. One aspect that truly stood out was their commitment to ensuring the well-being of the dogs. The presence of lots of water and shade throughout the facility was a testament to their dedication to keeping the dogs comfortable, especially during hot summer days. This attention to detail created a safe and enjoyable environment for all the furry patrons.Overall, Paws & Pints is a wonderful establishment that combines delicious food, refreshing drinks, and a dog-friendly atmosphere. The restaurant and bar provide an excellent dining experience for both humans and their four-legged companions. While the delayed opening time for the main backyard may be a slight inconvenience for early visitors on weekdays, the alternative space available still offers plenty of room for dogs to play and have fun. If you're looking for a place to relax, enjoy good food, and spend quality time with your furry friend, Paws & Pints is definitely worth a visit.Dog-friendliness: Built for dogs

This place is the MOST AMAZING place I have ever been. What a BRILLIANT place to make for pet lovers. Super friendly, Fun, so many kind of dogs playing and living their best life. Go in, have a 🍺 or 🍹 while hanging out with you pup and they get play and run in safe, clean social environment. We took my Grand pup here and we didn't want to leave..... Lol I want to Live here. I can't wait to go back and bring our new puppy. I wish I lived closer. You need to make one in Minnesota!!! We would go crazy for something like this. Especially in the winter. Thank you for a precious experience. You are all the BEST!!!

We recently moved to Des Moines from out-of-state (with a puppy!) and quickly found community at Paws and Pints. We immediately fell in love with the park's facility & staff - have met tons of great people & pups - and have grown to love Paws and Pints lodging and pet boutique, too!Our dog wasn’t allowed to enter without meeting P&P immunization/entry requirements- a clear reflection of the facility’s concern for & commitment to both canine and human guests!! Even after providing entry requirements, I was a little nervous heading in to our first visit - the facility is huge (and quite popular!) so we watched over our dog carefully to make sure he remained comfortable. We were so reassured by the park’s ‘grounds crew’ (think trained doggy lifeguards) who routinely round and monitor the park as the dogs play.We booked P&P lodging for an out-of-town weekend and I can vouch the Mo’Tail staff are equally as customer-oriented. Our pup isn't quite old enough to get fixed, so couldn't yet enjoy P&P doggy daycare, but the lodging staff helped keep our dog entertained, nourished and comfortable while we were away. Through their mobile app we received photos, status updates, and even got to watch our pup on livestream camera as we were out of town. No other dog boarding service compares, IMO!Their pet boutique features a wide variety of dog food, treats and supplements including options for dogs with food sensitivities. We’ve been fortunate to find affordable items our pup can enjoy even despite his food allergies. P&P members also receive a discount with every purchase at the boutique, added bonus! We haven’t tried their dog training services but we've chatted with other dog owners at P&P dog park who've shared very positive feedback on training.Unrelated to our dog, the food here (human grub) is top-tier. Clean restaurant. Full bar. The appetizer menu alone is worth the visit.Overall, this is a place for anyone who considers themselves fun-loving dog people. We love Paws & Pints!!!

I was really hesitant to come here at first because I heard about uncontrolled dog fights. But, let me tell you; the staff here does an incredible job of maintaining the peace! There was a husky that was targeted by a pack of dogs and the attendant took control of the situation and moved her to a private pen so that she could gather herself. She was obviously scared and her parents were not around, which I guess is kind of the point of this place. The lay of the land was pretty impressive! The indoor dog area was nice because you could drink your cocktails while watching your dogs amuse themselves. There was tons of seating all over the place. The outside, which was comprised of two yards had its own bar which was pretty cool if you didn't want to go into the restaurant to get a drink if your dog was playing outdoors.I felt like the place was beautifully designed and decorated. There is a huge screen in the indoor dog park and TVs all over the restaurant for all of you sports fans. The space was very clean as well. Attendants quickly picked up the dog poop and hosed down the area so that no one would step in it. The only thing that was really annoying was the tennis ball pit outside. People kept pulling more balls out even though there were already hundreds on the ground. I ended up throwing them back in the pit but you know that didn't last long. The three of us ate in the restaurant. The pork belly bites were absolutely delicious, burgers were so-so, and my lemon pepper wings were absolutely awful! The manager ended up discounting that part of the meal due to all of the uneaten food. Whoever was in the kitchen that day was really heavy-handed with the salt. I hope that's not the actual dry-rub recipe. All of the cocktails we got were great, however. I do not recommend the food here because it's extremely over-priced and just not good. We did enjoy the rest of our visit though so the three of us will order different dishes next time and hope for the best.Overall, this is a great place to bring your dogs. Mine was absolutely pooped toward the end!

Love the environment, able to relax while my dog has a blast playing with other dogs. Staff is good about stopping behaviors that may happen, cleaning after dogs go to the bathroom and having interactions with all the dogs! Even their cute little pet shop is nice, if you haven’t checked it out- I highly suggest you do. We bought the annual membership and enjoy having all the perks and convenience of lodging, doggy day care and a place to hang out and have a drink with our dog.

We loved being able to take our dog here to play during the winter, while having some drinks and food. We are from out of town and just wanted to visit for a couple days to let our dog play while hanging out for some food and drinks. They have a leash off play area for dogs that is turf and chairs and you can have drinks in there while you watch your dog (no food). It’s directly attached to the restaurant/bar so you can go back and forth and even watch your dog from the restaurant. There is also a patio area, heated during winter, that you can sit and eat/drink with your dog while they are leashed. We got food and drinks both days, drinks were reasonably priced and food was good! The last area to hang out during winter is the outdoor seating patio area with turf, they do have heaters and a bar out there but it wasn’t open and no heaters on while we visited, this was a Tuesday/Wednesday. They also did not have the backyard huge play area open, I’m guessing because of the wet weather.Easy mobile ordering lets you move around their rooms and give you and your dog some options, this is all separate from the dog daycare areas for people while regularly visit.Staff was attentive, polite, and dedicated to making sure dogs were happy, keeping any dog acting aggressive in check or asked to leave.Well worth the trip if you’re around Des Moines with your pup!

Love it. I love everything about this place. It was really nice that they had several staff members who watched out for the safety of the dogs. There was probably about 100 dogs there when I went. It was amazing how well all of the dogs got along and played together. The menu is very simple (I wish the menu had a few more choices) and quite a few different drink options. The indoor restaurant does not allow dogs inside, but there is an outdoor patio where you can leash your dog and have them with you. There's an outdoor bar, so if you don't want to go inside to get a drink you don't have to. I really wish this business had come to Des Moines years ago.

Simply the best dog park in Des Moines if you want to enjoy a beautiful day with a beer or cocktail and hang out with a bunch of perfect doggos who love to run and play. Clean, spacious, tons for dogs to do and play with, and peopled with friendly staff who care about your dog and their safety. Just a fantastic afternoon for you and your goodest boy or girl.

If you love the joy that dogs bring into your life, you will LOVE Paws & Pints. The staff is so friendly and caring of the patrons and their pets. The food is delicious and they serve Five Burrows Bagels for breakfast. The facility also has boarding, dog training and vet services.

Paws and Pints was a pretty cool one time experience. We just went for a day at the dog park and my girl was super quickly overwhelmed. We had fun in the back yard area where it was a little quieter and she had more room to run but this place is way too loud for most dogs. It’s a nice clean facility and the yard monitors are clearly quite good at their jobs. The prices are a little high but hey, that’s life. It was a little concerning to see that many of the dogs there had loose stools, making me worry about transmissible diseases not covered by the state mandated vaccines but my dog hasn’t gotten sick since our visit so I don’t think she caught anything while we were there.I’d definitely recommend this dog park to anyone with a crazy hyper dog but even my normally confident hound found it to be a bit much. I had lots of fun petting all the soft doggies and the food was good!Restrooms: Clean but no gender neutral option clearly available.Dog-friendliness: They encourage dogs to come in but it can be too loud and crazy for most dogs.

I am a frequent patron of this amazing facility and bring my dogs on a weekly basis. The staff at this establishment has always been kind and professional, from the front desk to the dog watchers in the park to the bartenders and servers. I have also utilized the grooming services / daycare services and have been extremely satisfied with the results. The cheese curds at this establishment are a must-try. In the future, I plan on bringing my dogs in the morning to play in the turf area dog park while I work remotely from the outside restaurant seating area with a fresh brewed coffee and bagel. Overall, this is my family's favorite place to visit in Des Moines by far.

Paws and Pints was a fun experience for my golden retriever, Huck, and I. Huck had a great time playing and got along with the dogs there, it’s about $10 to get in which isn’t bad pricing, I think it will be more “worth it” once the back lot with walking path is open for use. We visited the bar/kitchen as well. The food was good and it could have been hotter, it was kind of cold when received. I think it was a little overpriced for a bar/grill type restaurant, the prices could be $2-3 cheaper in my opinion thinking about similar restaurants in the area.I liked the employees monitoring the dog park and saw many times where the intervened when dogs were getting overwhelmed. The employees were also great at cleaning and washing the area regularly. One thing I noticed was that my dogs temperament was not checked like listed on the website, I’m not sure if this is supposed to be a formal process but if not that could be reworded on the website for clarification. All in all it was a fun place to visit, I think as a new business it is still working out the kinks as time goes on. It is a little pricey for a young professional on a budget but I look forward to visiting again with Huck and some of our friends.

We’ve been really happy with the food we’ve ordered and the drinks available at both bars. The pups are always enjoying their new friends and there’s plenty of new things going on (trivia, foam for the pups, live music)

The idea of this place is amazing and for the most part we had a great experience. The staff in the park were great at monitoring the dogs so owners could grab a drink, relax and eat some food. Unfortunately, the initial member of the front desk staff wasn't very friendly and didn't provide many instructions about the check in process or how to sign up your pet. Luckily there was a kind gentleman who helped us.

My 7 pounder loves the dog park. He loves to run with the big dogs.My only concern about Paws and Pints is when a dog had diarrhea and left many accidents both inside and out. The staff knew it because, they were the ones cleaning up the accidents. I think the owner and the dog should have been asked to leave.I did see the report about the dog attack. I will continue to take my dog there, however I will not take my eyes off of him the entire time we are there
