Experience was casual, heaven in the deli is always a charm. I love how personal she is and how knowledgeable she is when it comes to her department.Recommendations, advice, and even recipes have been inspired and passed on through her. She is a diamond in the rough and needs to be recognized. I have been to dozens of Hy-Vee stores and she is a headstrong leader in her own sorts and rights.Go heaven!!!!!!

Worst place in the world to shop. Only one register open and a line down to the candy isle. Only two self serve registers open. Every access to the groceries is blocked. The floor always looks dirty. You have to skirt staff blocking isles while they shop for the online customers. The employees look miserable; no smiles in any isles. This location doesn't carry products the stores in richer locations offer. And you have to check the expiration dates in order to avoid buying very stale product. I live around the corner and only shop at this location when I have no other choice. Prices are $1 to $3 more than any other grocery store, but they sure aren't using that extra money to pay for more cashiers. Hard pass if you want service, quality or decent price. The pharmacy is great though. They're always smiling and polite and very helpful. So kudos to the pharmacists and their staff.

It's very much better than the one on court Ave. Here they do serve you with a smile, unlike the other store and you can feel the sincerity of the employees.

It is good to have a store downtown. There is plenty of room in the parking area or just outside the area to erect an area where the homeless population of DSM has shelter from the elements. This would benefit all of downtown cuz it's gonna take help from us all. Lord knows CISS isn't doing much help. Just look at their grounds. Thank you for responding

It is an alright place. The workers are friendly, I get great service, and it's always right in town. The dislikable thing about Hy-Vee though, is that you can't always depend on it for what you need for cheap. Also, note to shelf workers, please start restocking the Ginger-Ale more often!

The quality of every part of the Hy-Vee experience has crumbled in the last months. There are almost no employees working with only two register lanes open and for some reason only two of the 6 self checkout lanes open. Whenever those self require an employee check it takes like 3 minutes to get someone to unlock the machines which happens every couple of customers. Plus they used to sell good Hawaiian buns and rolls, but now they have normal buns and rolls in the Hawaiian packaging. Also generally not clean. Disappointing efforts of cost cutting that has not resulted and any cheaper prices. They've also been closing the downtown store at 6 for some reason now. Will be driving further to go to Target or whole foods.

I go her because my credit union is also inside. I think Hy-vee has gotten a little out of control with their prices, I appreciate a nice store but don't update so often that it reflects in my prices. Also I use to like "a helpful smile in every isle." Now I have to check myself out at the register. Otherwise great selection and nice clean store.

So much expired food on the shelves at this location (SE 14th). I’ve seen items that are three months or more expired (fresh pesto, Starbucks canned drinks, yogurt). I’ve also noticed they don’t always rotate stock — stuff at the front of the shelves expires after the stuff at the back. Noticed that for some bread I was buying just yesterday.

Not so clean. The woman working the courtesy counter was anything but courteous. She was rude repeatedly and interrupted another manager who was helping us to announce she would not do what he had asked her to do again. While he was assisting us, one of the register operators needed assistance. We were the only people at the counter.

I was impressed at how clean and organize this store is, I was looking for an item and 1 of the workers offer to help me find it, even though they were out stock, I appreciate them for asking if I needed help, they bathrooms were clean and organized, they have a variety of foods and drinks, a pharmacy, even wine 🍷 & spirits, good job 👏🏽.

I don't know what's going on but the quality of the food has been a little too much like walmart lately. I'm so disappointed that these are expired I've been on the hunt for these for a while. I didn't know they were expired until after I had some. 😭😭😭

Have shopped at this specific Hy-Vee grocery store for over 20 years, and won't probably ever change that. Prices may be a bit on the higher side, but unfortunately, shoplifting is on the rise in cities everywhere, and paired with our own governments price Inflation of nearly everything to buy nowadays, it's definitely understandable that prices haven't gone down much yet.The only suggestion that I really had hoped this specific Hy-Vee store could bring back, would be the Hy-Vee Aisles Online-For online ordering through the Hy-Vee app, to order my groceries for pick up or a convenient delivery to my home. Whenever I choose to save a little time, and order my groceries for pickup or delivery, I have to choose a different Hy-Vee location to fulfill my order for me, Instead of being able to provide my favorite and local Hy-Vee on Southeast 14th Street and Park Ave., on the Southside of Des Moines, IA.The customer service is fantastic and the stores always got my favorite items, and on the very rare occasion when they would be out of stock, or waiting on a shipment, I always appreciated the awesome customer service provided to me by all of the cashier's and managers too to find me the out of stock product fast. Keep it up SE 14th and Park Ave Hy-Vee Grocery Store!

Management should have a meeting on racial profiling or something, there’s no reason why a worker should be leaned back, arms crossed with security standing next to them GLARING at me and giving me dirty looks while I’m just waiting to cash out. If you see a self checkout isn’t working and someone who was using it before i even came up there didn’t pay, then come clear off the screen so I can pay for my stuff instead of whispering about me to security and leaning back and glaring. Don’t call for assistance to the self checkout when you could’ve came and cleared the screen yourself. And the ‘manager’ that was on the phone with me said there was nothing he could do about that. HIRE BETTER PEOPLE. TELL HR ABOUT THE SITUATION. STOP DISCRIMINATING AND RACIAL PROFILING PEOPLE.

Very disappointed in the pharmacy. I was out of heart medication ( Waiting on doctor) they wouldn't even give me a few until it was filled. Without for 4 days, still here.

Tanisha, one of the managers, went beyond what her job really entailed. I had gotten a ride to the store, and when I was done, there was only 1 checkout. I couldn't use self pay because of my payment method. There were several people in line, and the lady ahead of me had a very large order. I waved to Tanisha and asked of she could get another cashier. She said one had called in, but she'd help me. I'm in there quite a bit, so I'm pretty sure she recognizedized me. I was very happy and grateful she went the extra step and I let her know it. Thanks!!!

The restaurant has different prices on line than in stores. Charged 20 percent more ordering in-person at the register. I don't understand why.

I would gave these guys are five star. The employees are winder to ask for help, always having a smiling face whether it be 30 below and snowing like crazy or 100 degrees sweating to death. The usually have everything in stock and if not they have rain checks.

the SS Hy-Vee is a regular stop 4 me and one of the few locations around with a Veridian Credit Union on site so that's a double bonus 4 me , the staff has always been friendly and helpful and usually have whatever u'r likely 2 need and the deli has plenty of quality meats and that's big in my book . . . Triple bonus !¡!

Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. This has become my go to grocery store. They have great specials and the food is great. I loved that they have free fruit for my toddler, he is always hungry. I honestly don't know how to describe it. It's a target/walmart, but without clothes. They have a Starbucks and a restaurant inside! If you get lucky you might get a sample.

4-29-24Getting worse Folks... get this Totinos pizza $2.67... flat out walked out. This is a sign the store is failing and trying to capitalize on every customer. Second sign is managers that careless when you report issues. If Store Director is hold then accountable they would at least listen to customer concerns. I am finding new place to shop.Everything at this stores is over priced... some items are up to $1.00 more than fareway or Walmart... cant even shop for the basics anymore...
