So this thrift store is very packed! Its very popular as a place for great bargains. Nothing is outrageously priced, it have a wide variety of everything. Some items are new, while others are gently used. Thrifty is the key to all of the merchandise.They do take cash and both types of cards. The parking lot is large. However, it was packed.

Make sure you get all your things including your receipt! Even when you have a receipt and go in or call that something is missing they always say I'm going to look at the cameras and call you back but, they never do. So, As a veteran myself I will not be going there on paydays. You go ahead and protect your employees and I will spend my money 💰 elsewhere. ThanksHave a very merry Christmas

Listen, why are you putting all the free tools you get, and anything anyone would want, on the wall? You need to sell the stuff on the wall. No one wants your board games. Nice staff, nightmare merchandise.

This is my favorite thrift store!! Very helpful and caring. So dedicated to the veterans and know customers by name. Really enjoy the historical veteran memorial wall with photos and artifacts. Everyone works really diligently to keep the store organized and clean. Thank you for all you do for veterans and the community. You help alot of people.

Now this is a real thrift store with thrift store prices! Super clean and friendly staff. I traveled from Nebraska and stumbled across this store and I will be back!

I LOVE shopping at D.A.V.! It’s always a treasure hunt that never disappoints. Tiffany and the rest of the staff are extremely helpful and friendly. They have TONS of clothes, shoes, and accessories available at great prices. I would recommend a visit especially to anyone on a budget.

Love the selection of clothing and also great they put out so much new stuff every day. Prices are also very good. The reason for only two stars is because of the employees. Many have mentioned it and I will second that. Downright rude. When new clothing gets brought out onto the floor I don’t feel it’s appropriate to be scolded multiple times by an employee that I’m not allowed to look through it. I totally understand if I’m taking stuff off the rack, putting it in different places and really messing up what they’re trying to do. In no way was I even near the person putting the stuff out on to the racks but she felt compelled to berate me not to touch that clothing. If you don’t want people to do that, don’t roll the racks out then. Take it from the back room. Apparently the employees who scold people for trying to buy their merchandise are more concerned with a power trip. I hope this is read by someone in charge and they address their employees about this. Or it may be time to get some new employees based on the number of negative reviews about how rude your staff is.

I’ve gone here since I was a kid. It’s more than just a thrift store, it’s nostalgic for me. I was just in the store yesterday with my kids. Jamie was my cashier. She was super friendly and quick. The store has improved so much over the past few years. I will continue to support the DAV for many more years!

I have done to this store at least a dozen times with my small little e-bike it's so small it's rated as a walking cool according to the manual which I showed the manager my bike is much smaller than the shopping carts that people are pushing around they even allow children forced the carts around which I think is very dangerous I am a 42 year old man who doesn't want my only mode transportation stolen from me today one of the employees from the back not even a front working employee said that I couldn't bring it in. This child size ebike has little itty-bitty 10 inch tires and you can lift it with one hand is a very light it's meant to be late so that it can fit anywhere such as a trunk of a car people are allowed to take it into office buildings because that's what it's used for his transportation downtown area or in the city where people have to park away from where they work I really got the feeling that this particular employee was just power tripping over me because perhaps he doesn't get much respect at home the girls at the front counter didn't even have an issue with it until he decided to have one.. I take it inside at any other store around my neighborhood even the gas station no one has a problem with it except for this one back working employee... What a joke..

I absolutely love this Thrift Store. The staff are also super helpful and are busy fixing the store and making it nice and neat for all shoppers. A special thank you to Tiffany for her help today. I definitely will be back.

I bring students from high school for a work experience. We work in the back room hanging clothes. The girls who work in the back room are so kind and patient with our students. Chris and Jamie who run the store are so willing to let our students work there and learn new skills. We look forward to going to DAV when it is our day to work.DAV, you are awesome!!!

The staff are very hard working and helpful. The store is always clean and organized. Excellent variety of items. There's always plenty of parking and well lit at night for safety. Its always a new adventure when shopping there. The prices can't be beaten anywhere else in des moines. Which is especially important in this economy with inflation going only higher. For familys with little extra money to spend like mine. The DAV is our first destination to find something needed. We are greatful that there is a store like the DAV available to us. I have friends that feel the same as me and mine.

The female managers there are rude and disrespectful they accuse people of stealing and lie about having proof then BAN anyone they "think" help steal w/o proper proof and they don't do it when they are with said person they do it when those people come alone. They take advantage of their job title in horrible ways instead of actually applying their time to things that they should like restocking shelves or helping fellow workers with their jobs

Love to browse this place, and sometimes wonder the story each item has. I have found some really sweet things there for an even sweeter price. A good place for finds, and knowing that the Dollar you spend goes to our nation's great veterans,I only have one negative comment about this great place. And that would be, I wish some of the workers would not be in such a rush to have you out of the store a 1/2 hour before its time to close. And to even greet you with a disgruntled "We close in 30 minutes." OK... G..

After doing my homework to donate to charitable organization, felt DAV gets my items.Sure the others that help in different ways, that DAV does what I feel is beneficial to one in need.From helping the homeless, assist with resumes, most of all being an US Army veteran, the DAV helps disabled veterans.For the one that joined voluntarily or not to help keep the world safe and free of oppression.The DAV one phone call they will come to you on specific date. 3/23/22 These people made my day great. My late husband had a room full of collectibles. My 2 nephews cleaned out the entire room for me.DAV came within 2 days and picked up everything. 1 man loaded it all in the truck. It took 12 ft of trailer space.When I called to schedule the pick up , the person was very friendly and helpful. Listen to my concerns and called the next day to verify the pick up time and date. I will always support our veterans. Feeling blssed.
