Out of towners who decided to try this place as recommended by Google. I had the tortoise shell small cone which was a neat concept. The vanilla soft serve was filled with caramel and then dipped in chocolate with pecans sprinkled on it. So cool! However, after eating the outer coating, the soft serve ice cream lacked flavor. Yes, I waited to see if it was because the coating might have overshadowed the flavor, but no. The ice cream itself is not creamy, nor sweet. Staff was great with a sweet girl who executed the request expertly. I just would not return as the Sugar bowl has real ice I've also had creamier soft-serve elsewhere. But I quit good NG to Dairy Queen when it only had low fat ice cream and I think this is the same!🙄

We were told this was a must when you go to Decorah. Love the history of it and that it's still there and is very well loved. I didn't give it five stars cuz I didn't think the ice cream wasn't exceptional. But it was a great stop and I'm glad Decorah still has it and it's a very popular place!

The tornado was absolutely delicious. The ice cream seems a little bit different than your average dairy Queen. We ordered a pineapple, black raspberry, cheesecake tornado. We will definitely stop back in if we're in the area.

Delicious! Out of town and stopped here in the middle of exploring the parks around Decorah. This is little walk up food/ice cream stand- DELICIOUS! We got the walking tacos and the hot dog (they ask what you want on both) and both were really good! Also got root beer float and a cherry dipped cone with chocolate ice cream that didn't last long enough for pictures. Cheap and quick service too! Got everything before we even stepped away from the window

Enjoyed our stop here. Pretty much a must if you're in Decorah. The ice cream was good. Very tasty and reasonably priced. Looked like a nice selection of food and ice cream. Seating behind under the trees for convenience and shade. Parking is generally available. Will be going back.

It hard to imagine a more classic ice cream stand. Always a great treat after a walk or bike ride on a hot day. It's also mother approved, I'm not sure what she's more excited about when coming to town: seeing her only son, or getting ice cream from the whippy dip

Very fast service and they get it right. I had a chocolate banana malt and it was perfect! The hubs had a turtle sundae that had plenty of hot fudge and caramel.

Enjoyed our ice cream, they have lots of flavors. Staff was friendly. Sizes we're fine for the price but not as great as other places. Overall, would eat here again if someone else wanted to come but I wouldn't choose it myself due to the pricing.It's about $5 for a small (green cup) tornado, my candy pieces were very few other than the very top so it was mostly vanilla ice cream. The cones are a better deal.Warning for large families: only tables to eat at are outside in the back parking lot. Lots of bees and bird poop, which I know they can't help but it's just good to know what to expect.3.5/5 Stars 🌕🌕🌕🌗🌑

OMG!!! I'm not from the area and was referred to this place by a local who now lives by me.What a gem!!The ice cream is awesome and the walking taco is off the chart.What a cute little local place and after one stop, you know why it has been there forever.The staff is friendly and courteous. They explained the menu and answered my questions with a smile.Hit the Whippy Dip for a cold treat, you won't be disappointed.

Everything we had here was great! Being from out of town, we didn't know it was cash only. No credit cards. Thankfully we did have cash on hand. That being said the ice cream was very creamy and full of flavors in each order. Andes Mint Tornado was super good! Will definitely go back!

This is a great place for a snack with friends! They have a great baby-size ice cream cone, which is fantastic for lactose intolerant people who want to be stubborn and enjoy! They have a diverse menu, and you can't go wrong with anything on it!

Literally takes ages to get your ice cream, standing in line and also waiting to receive after ordering. That said, they have a lot of unique items and some of it is really good. Pretty typical soft serve ice cream treats.

Friendly staff, good selections and prices. Located on the main street & easy to find. I enjoy going to an ice cream shop that hasn't changed its looks over the years, yet it's still just as popular.
