Stumbled upon this gem when in town for the weekend. Small and quiet, but bright and inviting. Logan was the lone employee and was incredibly helpful and kind. I tried a slice of the pistachio mortadella and it was incredible. I was going to get that sandwich, however Logan mentioned that the pastrami was the best he’d ever had. I went with it, along with some pickled Fresno peppers, and he wasn’t kidding. It was also one of the best sandwiches I’ve ever had! The star of the show, however, was the house made pickle! It was truly excellent! I’m not sure if I’ll even end up in Decorah, IA again, but if I do, I’m definitely going back to see Logan!

The best sandwich and soup we have ever had. Water Street Deli has the most delicious sandwich’s. All fresh, gourmet ingredients! The owner really takes pride in his work and you can surely taste it in his sandwich's! This restaurant is right on main street and is easy to find!I cannot recommend this place enough!! Truly the best sandwich I've ever had!

They recently opened, and things are still coming together, but my mushroom torta from Water Street Deli was one of the best sandwiches I've eaten. I'm looking forward to going back and trying something else. Our experience was pleasant and welcoming.Vegetarian options: Salads and some sandwiches offer a vegetarian option.Parking: Parking is limited along Water Street and down Court Street.

This place is so good! I've never eaten anything I haven't loved. I especially appreciate the vegetarian options like the mushroom torta I had. I'm not exaggerating when I say it's probably the best sandwich I've ever eaten.

A Must-Try if you're going through or near Decorah.Logan has created an excellent concept and his Deli menu is simple yet elegant.I was pleasantly surprised to see such flavors in the wilderness of the Midwest.We ordered a #1 (Mortadella Monster) and a #4 (Salumeria). Both were excellent. The bread was fresh, the deli meats were tasty. We added the Fresno Peppers and those really elevated the sandwich/panini to the next level.His takeout options are at an excellent price-point, especially for the quality offered.Logan is an excellent proprietor and a conversationlist.I highly recommend a visit to this establishment and perhaps a purchase of the meats offered at his counter for home. It is clear that Logan has a passion for this business and it is shown in his customer service, food quality, and overall experience.

Amazing food & delightful owner! So happy they opened in Decorah. You can tell Logan really cares about the food he makes. Great presentation & wonderful taste — so happy they also have great vegetarian options. Everything we had was fantastic including salad, sandwiches and lemonade. Will be back. Highly recommend!

Worth every penny. I don't have enough superlatives to describe how good the food is. Everything this place does is a revelation; THAT's what chili is supposed to taste like; THAT's how good a sandwich can be. Everything I've had has been the best iteration of that particular thing that I've ever had. Give them your business. You won't be disappointed.

I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! The food is exquisite, the staff are friendly and approachable, the space is clean and neat (and the food is prepared right in front of you, which I always appreciate).. You can see that they're continually in creative mode - there's always something new and delicious in the works (the weekly special, a new house-made lemonade flavor, a seasonal menu update, DESSERT)... which is so much fun (and always delightful and tasty) and really shows a passion for the craft. Also, you will not go away hungry because these amazing sandwiches are hearty! I've been working my way through the menu (and specials and lemonades and... You get the picture) and I've loved (LOVED!) everything I've tried. 11/10 recommend.

We asked Logan to create party trays of his wonderful sandwiches for a group of twenty-five. He did not disappoint and made the hosting of this group a breeze. If you are searching for a way to entertain a large group, look no further. The pickles are awesome too!

Genuine, friendly, dedicated, and skilled guy. He really knows his craft. All the food is excellent. Fresh, high-quality ingredients, many unique for this area. Delicious, well-balanced sandwiches. Carefully curated menu. Take-out only. Pleasant interior with cured meats, cheeses, canned Italian goods, and specialty beverages for sale. All-around authentic Italian-American style deli experience.The braised beef panini was very good.The porchetta sandwich special was outstanding—probably the best sandwich I've had on this side of the Atlantic. The ingredients were not overbearing but were so satisfyingly full of flavor in the way they complemented each other. Everything was prepared just right.I hope to someday explore more of the seasonally rotating menu. I would go there all the time if my location and wallet allowed it (it's not cheap per se, but you truly get what you pay for in its high level of quality).I encourage everyone to support this deli and enjoy all that its craftsman has to offer.

I am obsessed with Water Street Deli. They have great options, Sandwiches, Paninis, Green Salads, Farro Salads, Chips, Homemade lemonade. That’s just the menu. He also has a deli case, full of the best meat and cheese options in town. Highly recommend stoping by before going to the park for a picnic.
