This place is my happy place! The decor is inviting, the plants are great quality, they have loads of options and staff that can make great suggestions when looking for the right plant. The store items are high quality, unique and fun pots, decorations and so much more to add a nice personal touch to your home or office. I have been a fan for years and they continue to deliver.I also have attended multiple classes and events at Ted Lare's, these are fun to participate in and provide some new skills.

I'd never been here before and I found several wishlist house plants. And it was the off season. I can't wait to go back when they're stocked up!The staff were all super friendly and so helpful. They told me if I give them my info, they'll contact me when my dream plant comes in. So I gave them my info, and I'll be giving them my money in the future too haha!Ted Lares is a new favorite garden center for me, and I've been to *several* all around the Des Moines area. So if you don't go, it's okay, more treasures for me!! 😉

We attend a pressed flower workshop, then did a little shopping afterwards. Great place! They have a large variety of outdoor garden items. Can't wait until they have more plants ready. The class was a lot of fun! We have a beautiful pressed flower sun catcher.

Ted Lare has some of the most amazing plants in Iowa! they have a great selection of regular houseplants and a decent amount of rare house plants as well. The main building always has cool new decor and display items as well as more pots and planters and plant care tools than I knew was possible. its about an hour drive for me but I make it at least once a month since I found this place just to see what new items they have.They also stand behind their plants even after they are sold which is the absolute cherry-on-top! they are so open and welcoming to hearing from customers and willing to help as much as possible.

This place has a huge selection of plants, pots, and garden accessories. They clearly label all the plants, including indicators for native Iowa plants, which is very nice.We talked to them a little about getting someone to provide us an estimate for having them do some plant installations as well. Unfortunately, they have a $200 consultation fee, which we did not see mentioned on their website anywhere, and is extremely high just for providing an estimate. For this reason, I cannot give 5 stars.TL;DR good place to shop, but they have a large consultation fee if you want even an estimate for them to do work for you.

This is the go-to place for hard to find plants. I could spend hours here and still not see everything! Clean space, easy to maneuver in store. Healthy, happy plants and helpful signage that tells you what each type of plant needs to thrive. Super friendly staff!! And they give coupons sometimes which my bank account appreciates.

Ted Lare is always such a delightful place to visit. We moved to Iowa a year and a half ago and reluctantly left our beautiful shade gardens there. Ted Lare has given us the opportunity to redesign our new Iowa backyard. They have healthy plants of many of the latest varieties. The staff have always taken time to be friendly and helpful. The displays hold many intriguing ideas. We also got to take advantage of a great sale today!

Thoroughly enjoyed my visit here today! One of the best, somewhat local greenhouses, for rare, interesting, and unique houseplants, large selection of garden supplies, gifts, etc. Staff are extremely personable, service friendly, knowledgeable, and share empathy for those of us with the plant collecting "disorder". If you can't find it, Ted Lare's either has it or can find it for you. Now...to find a house with an attached greenhouse conservatory to buy! Lol.

We like the staff; they are helpful and friendly. We have bought trees and plants here and they have done very well. They have a wide variety of cool pots and gift items that you don't see every where else. Well worth the trip to shop here.

Not impressed. They created a design for our backyard then installed it. The design and the install did not match. The changes that were made were not to our liking. We’re told it was “too late” to go back to what we wanted.They make changes to suit their taste, which isn’t why we hired them.In addition they cut a cable in our yard for century link and didn’t say anything! Thankfully we don’t use century link, however, we might and if you cut a utility, they should have told us and fixed it.Do not recommend!

Susan was very helpful. I needed help repotting a sansevieria plant that was in rough condition. She fully repotted the plant and gave me care instructions.I had messaged their Facebook page with questions before visiting the location and they always answered quickly and directed me to who would be able to help best.

UPDATED BELOW... Thoroughly DISAPPOINTED in Ted Lare, and although I normally don't write reviews I felt it was necessary this time. I bought 11 trees from them in April of this year during their Spring Open House event where trees were 20% off. All of the trees were planted as instructed and watered properly (especially during this dry summer), but unfortunately 3 of them are doing poorly. I inquired today about their guarantee on trees, and was informed by Ryan that their one-year guarantee ONLY applies if the trees were purchased at regular price (WHAT?!). The 11 trees were $130 each; with a 20% discount, they were $104 each. So now I'm out $312 + tax and still have to spend more money to replace the trees. Had I known this exclusion applied (it is not stated on my receipt and I couldn't locate it on their website), I would not have purchased the trees when I did, as I only saved a total of $78 off the 3 trees. After being a customer there for years and recommending them to friends and family, I certainly cannot recommend Ted Lare after this experience. I would have thought Ryan would want to make it right with me, but there was no attempt on his part. It is likely that I will not be returning, as they deserve a big thumbs down for clearly putting profit over customer loyalty and future business.÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷÷I want to say a special thank you to Melissa at Ted Lare for immediately reaching out to me after I posted my previous comment. After discussing my issue she was completely concerned with making things right and didn't try to "get out of" fixing things. She made sure we were on the same page and I am happy to post that Ted Lare will be taking steps to replace all of the dying trees. THANK YOU AGAIN for taking the time to make a loyal customer happy. If you have an issue with Ted Lare's products or services I'd encourage you to reach out to Melissa first, she dealt with things quickly, professionally, and most importantly satisfactory!

I recently discovered this garden center and I enjoy visiting it on a regular basis. There are so many cute items and interesting and unique plants for sale. A majority of the staff are very friendly and helpful.

We recently had our second landscaping created and completed by Corey. I love color and odd things but was challenged in a new home with lots of wildlife. Corey drew up an amazing design that continued to develop as landscaping began. He is so easy to work with and always hears what I want. Derek has been one of the laborers that has been onsite for the second time but both men were knowledgeable and polite. They clean up everything every day and work extremely hard while on the job. Our landscaping was much larger this time but is absolutely exactly what we wanted! Even my skeptical husband was amazed at the beautiful transformation and how organized and efficiently it was completed. We have nothing for praise for this team!

We couldn’t be more impressed with the wonderful staff at Ted Lare. Our front yard was in desperate need of a complete over-haul and I couldn’t be happier with our decision to utilize Ted Lare to help us accomplish this daunting task. From the very beginning of the process to the final stages, everyone we dealt with was very pleasant, responsive and professional. Keegan Lare created an amazingly beautiful design for us that absolutely incorporated all of our own ideas and wishes as well as providing the flare, balance and unique touches you would expect from a professional landscape architect. Mitch and Ethan made that plan a reality and worked so hard everyday to make the finished product meticulously match what had been so thoughtfully envisioned. I was beyond impressed with how conscientious, knowledgeable and proficient they were. We have received so many compliments on the finished product and I can’t sing Ted Lare’s praises enough. Beautiful designs, but disappointing on storm water management and conservation minded work.We live near Easter Lake and were hoping to have Ted’s landscaping design and contract a project that would align with Polk County’s Easter Lake Watershed project e.g. a rain garden, native landscaping, a bioswale or something similar that would provide aesthetic and conservation benefits to our property.$100 dollars later we received a beautiful design, but no landscaping designs that would help with storm water management or benefit conservation. After a few months of back and forth, we gave up.

Super lawn and garden store. If you need it, they got it! We shop there every spring and bring Mom so she can pick out what she wants for Mother's day.They also have a great staff that can answer all of your questions.
