We've stopped here a couple of times on cross country trips home, and I'm writing this review to help me remember it's one of the consistently great options. The beds are nice, there's an option between stairs or elevator (which is great because my dog is afraid of the later) and there's a pizza oven in the breakfast area.This time around, we picked up a pizza in the next city over and it was definitely needing that oven by the time we checked in and were ready for food.There are also several vending machines and freezers you can buy snacks and ice cream from, as well as a nearby gas station if you're looking for something more like a 6-pack.It's weird to say it, but their tv remotes also are very intuitive. Like a normal remote. Weird, I know. We had a couple of hotel rooms elsewhere on this trip whose tvs were downright unusable, so I felt it worth noting.

Super convenient location next to I80 and a wonderful place to stay for the price! I was admittedly a bit hesitent but glad I went there to stay. There was a wonderful young couple managing this when we stayed and they were incredibly kinda and helpful. I regret not takkng photos for this review.Rooms: Clean and up to date

The room we stayed in was fairly clean. No bugs were observed. The only bad thing was the human urine smell in the room. The rest of the hotel was clean and well kept. It was relatively quiet but the walls are thin so you can hear your neighbor talking.The staff seemed to be friendly and helpful. For a quick night's sleep this would be a good place to stop.

Had to stay here due to unexpected car issues. The staff were very friendly and accommodating but the rooms were not clean. There was dirt and hair on our towels and bedding. I also found a bug in my shoe (unsure if it was a bed bug) but nonetheless, gross. The staff were kind enough to let us switch rooms and were very nice and let us use the lobby for a few hours as we waited for our taxi. Overall, the stay was okay but I would have preferred a cleaner space.Food & drinks: Breakfast was good.

I stayed at the hotel for long term during my work trip. Very neat and newer building. The rooms were clean with quality amenities.The ladies at the front were amazing.During my visit, I had an opportunity to meet the new owner and appreciate the efforts he is making to turn around the property.

Horrible management. They allowed domeone yo use my sons stolen credit card and when the situation was presented to them they refuse to refund the money. He isnt wven old enough to rent a hotel roomThe reservation was made w a stolen credit card. Once i called the hotel the "manager josh" told me a fake corporate number. My son did not make a reservation as hes bot old enough to make said reservation. Once the hotel was made aware of this i wasbasically told me dont care our policy is to charge (stolen credit caard). Upon further investigating i found out that someone DID check in and now the people at the actual corporate office are getting involved and said this management would be dealt with accordingly. Weird how the manager josh hung up on me multuple times but now wants toget online and act like hes decent. Youre a theif. Stealing money from a kid who didnt reserve. Didnt show up, wasnt verified. Poor management skills.

Microtel Inn was a Godsend for us as we were looking for a place to rest and that would let us park our U haul truck on site. The place is Nice and and beds are comfortable. The Staff were Great and very helpful. We would definitely stay there again. So if you are traveling with a moving truck they have a nice big parking lot and won't force cancel your reservation like the Hampton Inn did in Altoona. Don't let there wind damaged sign turn you off its a nice place.Rick, Denver CO.

This was a gem of a place that I discovered while searching for a hotel in nearby Newton. Cleanliness is important to us, and this facility had a clean look and feel to it from the moment I walked in the door. Friendly, polite and courteous staff at check-in. The room was clean and wonderful, and the night was quiet. The room lacked a mini fridge and a microwave, but these were unimportant to me, and there was a microwave available in the breakfast area had I wanted to use it. I only mention it for potential customers who might expect, want, and use such appliances in a hotel room. The continental breakfast was as advertised and included bagels, muffins, and toast with all the toppings. Milk, juice, packets of cocoa and oatmeal, and very good coffee were also available. About 35 miles from Des Moines, I strongly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling in the greater Des Moines area.

If I could give zero stars, I would.On July 29th, my fiancé and I checked in to this hotel. We were given our room key and room #. Upon entering the room, we noticed that the curtain facing the parking lot didn’t shut all the way. Secondly, we noticed a mirror that filled the whole length behind the beds. Creepy to say the least. As I went to unpack, my fiancé went to the restroom and hollered at me to come look at something. I walked in and he pointed to under the sink: mold. Black mold allllll underneath the sink. Not only was there mold but the bathtub/shower had a layer of what looked like mildew.We walked out of that room immediately and asked the front desk for a second room. Upon entring the second room, a nasty, God-awful stench roasted the hairs inside my nose. I’ve never been part of a murd3r cleanup but I’d have to say that’s what it smelled like. The smell alone was gut wrenching. As we took a look around the room, we discovered a needle sticking out of the carpet. I could have only imagined if we’d gotten that in our feet…We went to the front desk and asked for a refund because this was disturbing and was giving me total Bates Motel vibes.My money was TEMPORARILY refunded but then taken back out. I tried calling the customer service. They gave me a customer service number and a month has gone by and I’ve heard nothing since.ABSOLUTELY WOULD NOT STAY HERE OR EVEN MAKE A RESERVATION. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY/CARD INFORMATION!

I loved my stay here! The blonde woman working the desk this morning was such a sweetheart. She made my day! The room was also nice and clean, and I felt very welcome with my dog. I was pleasantly surprised to see they offered free breakfast, too! My only complaint is that the pillows were too hard/firm for my taste, but nonetheless I’d stay here again for sure! Thank you for such a great stay.

Have stayed here several times over the past couple months, from May 17-20, 22-25, and May 28-Jun 1, so can echo the good reviews. The place is under new mgmt and it shows. The owner, Yash, went out of his way to help me secure transportation when my car broke down during my last stay; he is incredibly personable and made it a point to make sure I was comfortable (and he did this before I was a regular!)The bldg is older, and there are signs throughout (the tvs are smaller, one room I stayed in did not have a microwave, etc), but if you are looking for a nice, clean place to stay its hard to find any better on this stretch of highway. There is some road noise, but its not overwhelming, and the ample parking and well lit spaces make this a value buy. Will update if anything changes, but I look fwd to staying again in the future.

Hardly know where to begin!First we discovered staffers smoking at the front door so we couldn’t get inside without getting a lung full of smoke!Then they gave us a ground floor room. We discovered the window latch was broken so it couldn’t be sealed against the freezing cold (or worse). They promptly examined the window, and then moved us to the second floor.A couple hours later a mouse came out from around the heating unit. My wife screamed so loudly it left a dropping on the bathroom threshold! Eventually we chased it from the room and wedged towels under the door so it couldn’t get back in.Then a guest knocked on the door saying he’d been moved — to our room! In conversation we discovered he’d first been given the ground floor room with the broken window!I went to the desk to complain about the mouse and to cancel our second night. I asked the staffer if she knew about the hotel’s mouse problem. To her credit she admitted that she did, and canceled our second night without penalties. Great customer service! She offered to move us to a new room, but I explained how we had barricaded ourselves to keep the mouse out. So she gave us a new set of towels so I could jam them in the gaping holes around the heating unit to feel even more secure.Went down for breakfast about 7:30 the next morning, and apart from cold cereal there was only one plain bagel and a couple muffins. No sugar for the coffee. And apparently no staff around to replenish the breakfast.And what’s going on with the light fixture pictured below?!It was a great location for us, but we won’t be staying again. It’s left a bad taste for the Wyndham brands in general, and for Microtels in particular. I have no idea how this location has a four star rating!

The night desk lady has her dogs laying around which is strangeThe fan housing in the bathroom was hanging there. The tub dripped. The "clean" towels had long black hairs on it.The walls were paper thin and doors slammed all night.

Well let’s start w I was very pleased all the way around. I stayed for nine days, in the jacuzzi room, clean friendly staff. Internet & tv sucked. So here is my biggest w this place. I left hotel, had not stayed for 5 days now, I notice a charge to my card for $497. That amount was taken off my card. I called owner said 3 days it’ll be back on, wasnt. Called numerous times again, 7 days now! Still no money back in my acct. iam livid & appalled on how the are doing business. I recently have done some investigating and asking around about this motel and I guess this is not the first time this is happened and they even told me it was the second person that week they had the same similar situation, heck, one employee has actually gotten in trouble for taking money from peoples cards and guess what she still works there I do not recommend this hotel if you want to keep your money safeSafety: Your account Information are not safe here

Very pleased with my stay at this hotel. Friendly staff and clean room. Price was good and great location. Breakfast needs improved, but the rest was excellent. We will be repeat customers whenever we are in the area.Tip: There are 3 convenience stores close by, but there is a Fareway grocery store in Colfax about a 5 minute drive from the hotel. Much cheaper if you need supplies.
