This store is amusing. I had never been to one before today. I saw dollar tree items that were priced at $1.99. I wouldn't have thought a thing about it except I have the exact same things. They say it's a consignment shop but it feels more like a very, very expensive Goodwill (because they're already expensive). Idk, I did find a couple a decent items that weren't too high priced but I'd have bight plenty more had items been reasonably priced. My cashier was very nice and pleasant. By receipt says he name is Za.

I've bought and consigned over the years, but recently it's gotten really difficult to consign anything. Lines are long. Totes and bags aren't available. I used to be able to leave a tote and go. Now an employee looks ad nauseam at every item I bring while the line behind me is growing and everyone seems angry, including the employees. I walked around the store today. Inventory is low. I was looking for a few household items and nothing was available. I might try once more, but if this is going to be the new customer experience, I don't think it's worth my time to consign or shop in the future.

At least it's cleaner and stuff off the floor this trip. It's normally a mess and you can't find anything. As always, staff at receiving was cold and made me uncomfortable. Susan at the check-out was sweet, thorough, and the smile never left her face. She was very much appreciated!

I’m assuming that like all retail in the area they’ve struggled with staffing — it is rather difficult to consign here, expect long lines. I think they should address that issue first, because I’m guessing that the inability to sort inventory efficiently is what’s causing the high markup in prices. I shop at the Waterloo location (I have family there but live here) and it’s sometimes funny to see the difference in pricing. Waterloo will be clearancing full size metal filing cabinets for $5 (originally $10 or so) because nobody buys them anymore, but one half as tall and twice as beat up will be on sale in Clive for $60. The furniture pricing will frequently be a couple hundred dollars for extremely beat up furniture — I’m not saying it doesn’t have value, but the price has to reflect the worth, especially when you’re competing with other thrift stores and FB marketplace. The last several times I’ve been in here I’ve left without buying anything. Even some of the clearance clothing items were $15. I have store credit and I like the concept of buying used when I can, but it has to make sense financially.

Store was well organized by area but pretty messy. Some prices are pretty reasonable but some are expensive. Didn't find anything much except this amazing book!

Never know what you will find. Changes day to day. All consignment sales. The prices go down on items every thirty days they are there.

Stuff Etc is a pretty big thrift store, probably the biggest I've been in that I recall. I was very attracted to the pictures and was so excited to want to go here that I suspended my time at a restaurant to come check it out.I get there and it was, eh, underwhelming. The reason why it was underwhelming was because, while some claim it's a thrift store. All I got from the feel is that it is a Goodwill-style kind of a thrift store, which is just a discount department store at best from what they get donated.Individually priced DVDs, electronics are all locked behind glass and priced as you'd expect. The furniture is INSANELY priced and I mean that not in a good way. I didn't really take my time in this store as I felt I should have, because I couldn't shake the vibe that it was all Goodwill/Ross/Salvation Army levels of pricing.May have a lot of variety and some things could be fair in price but I don't ever dare classify Stuff Etc as thrifting.

Over priced I saw things from the dollar tree for $3. Almost everything was damaged. However it is extremely well organized and clean. Some great things just need to work on their prices.

The prices seem a little high on some of the merchandise, but we enjoyed looking around and bought a few books.

Very large store with lots of stuff. Prices seemed reasonable. We weren't able to find what we were looking for, so there was no real interaction with employees.

It has become SO hard to consign here. I’m always left so disappointed. There are never totes available, the lines are always ridiculously long, and the staff is rude. Leaving the store for the 10th time feeling defeated.

This location used to be a great, but unfortunately my last few visits have been poor experiences. To start, consigning has become very tricky. Many times I show up and they have ceased accepting drop offs for the day. This can very disheartening after loading a car of items. But moreover, the staff has become increasingly unfriendly. No joke, I have been snapped at three times recently: once because I proceeded to the only line with people waiting, but I didn't first get a slip. There was no clear signage as to what to do, and employees have always printed my slip for me after standing in the line I had been in. Second because I accidentally placed clothes on the incorrect rack after trying on. Again, no clear signage. And thirdly because I asked (politely) for a receipt after the employee didn't print one after a purchase. This all is in addition to experiencing a general "moodiness" from most employees. I say all this realizing they've been severely short staffed for months. However, as someone who's worked low staff customer service or retail jobs, this pattern is just unacceptable. I'm not sure what's going on, but obviously the staff is unhappy and I hope management sees this and wakes up. I've asked a couple friends of mine who also have been there, and they agree. I think Stuff Etc. could be such an AMAZING option for secondhand shoppers, and I truly hope it's able to find the help and resources to become happier and expand its intake capacity.

This is not your average 2nd hand store. Spacious aisles, clean atmosphere, and a wide variety of items should make this a regular stop on anyone's search for bargains. Merchandise comes and goes so grab it quick. Lots of furniture, clothing, and household items plus lots more.

I recently decided to sell some things at Stuff but have been quite disappointed with the process. I've attempted half a dozen times to bring in my things to sell but, due to the agonizingly slow line, had to leave to return to work. The line simply does not move. Last time I waited for half an hour and never moved forward. Why would I want to stand in line over an hour just to make $20 off some clothes. The emplyees are either incredily slow or they are understaffed. Either way, I'll just donate small clothes and sell my other things on places like Craigslist. Get it together Stuff - you're losing business.

I bought Double 9 Dominoes a couple of days ago. It listed that there were 55 dominoes and there were 52. Metal container was taped shut. Only spent 4 dollars but they are useless. I would suggest making sure all the pieces were there before you sell something.

This place has gotten kind of stuffy. Seems that for a consignment store (higher prices than normal 2nd hand stores) that it would be more organized but seems that they have given up on their organizational skills. I'm giving it a 5 star because the person who helped me at the front was so nice.

The cashier Taylor wasn't so nice to me she caught a attitude because I asked her to not stuff all the clothes in one plastic bag to give me more plastic bags so it won't be breaking the plastic bag or falling over I mean this place is pretty expensive so don't get mad at me because I want my stuff in multiple bags so my clothes won't be falling on the dirty concrete

As a consighnor, I appreciate the responsiveness of the manager. Anyone can have issues, but a true leader will take accountability and work to make things right. This is the attitude that will keep me selling quality items at Stuff Etc, in Clive.Thank you for being trustworthy and attending to your buyers, but also those of us who have items to sell.

Wasn't bad inside had a lot of nice things also had newer things. Good prices, only bad experience I had was at check out. Put all of my thing up on the counter and the cashier Annika was fine up until handing back my change. She didn't tell me out much change I would be getting back. She also seemed to have overall an attitude.

Always find treasures and spend too much money. Also, great place to buy high quality secondhand clothes. Got my husband a Grunt Style shirt he had been wanting to order for $5.49. It was a stupid good price!!

Every time I come here it’s very complicated to consign or they aren’t taking stuff at that time. Even though it’s clearly posted that they should be. I will no longer waste my time bringing them my stuff. It’s been 3x now of trudging over there to have them turn me away or say they are done taking stuff for the day when it’s within their supposed hours.

Update: can you please address the issue of stealing from consigners and profiting off of claims that you are donating items vs selling by the pound on items you do not technically own!Do not consign here! They are thieves! They say they donate any items they deem unworthy to sell on the floor or items that don’t sell in the allotted timeframe and state this in their consigner contract. This is an outright lie! They sell it by the pound to DAV. Not only do you not have a choice to get your unwanted items back, but they actually profit off of them and you have no say in this! It isn’t only unethical, but it is illegal as you lead your consigners to believe if items are deemed unworthy that they are being donated when they are not!

Nice clean store, rather expensive for a consignment store, could buy new for some of their prices. But I love to go there, great variety and items very clean

This is the grandaddy of 2nd hand stores! They get such cool stuff, and they always get new and different stuff. You can't go wrong, because they get deals and steals. They might have really nice furniture, or great clothes? You just never know. You may see something you didn't even know you liked, but don't hold off buying, because stuff goes fast at a place like this! I've missed some really great stuff.

Takes a long time for them to go through your items. Sometimes by the time they go through it, your type of items are on sale. They DO have a nice selection of items. Easy checkout. They no longer follow their contract agreement of texting a consignor when black bags have been evaluated. They used to text consignor, then consignor had 48 hrs to pick up things they couldn't use. Now a consignor has no idea when a black back has been gone through, so no idea when to pick up rejected items. So the contract you sign is really no longer valid on their part, at least in the Clive store. Very disappointing.
