My first stay at this chain. The room was minimally furnished and it felt like I had stepped back in time to a dorm room of the 70s. It was clean and comfortable except the bed was hard. I would stay here again if doing another quick overnight stay. My compliments to the afternoon/evening desk staff person. She was very friendly and helpful-gave me a dinner recommendation and driving directions to tour around the city.

This hotel is perfect for a quick and easy stay. It has the bare minimum of what one would need. It is cozy and quaint. The bed could be better and the day time staff could be better(nighttime staff was great) but beyond that, our stay was great. The location is surrounded by fast food joints and gas stations. You're about 10 minutes from the nearest target or walmart. A good bang for your buck.

This is the 2nd Microtel we have stayed at, and we found it nearly exactly as we were expecting. A clean, cozy and comfortable little room. The things keeping this from a 5 star experience were small but cumulative: The toilet didn’t flush properly, the bed was unsupportive, and the morning staff seemed uncaring. We’ll try this one again for sure!

The staff was friendly and breakfast was great! However, the bathtub was full of gnats/bugs and the toilet was constantly running and would have to be flashed a certain way in order for it to flush fully. The overall room just did not seem clean.

It's very convenient to get a room here! The staff here was very friendly and engaging in our conversation, such sweet ladies here. Breakfast in the morning is from 6am-11am I believe. The rooms were very clean and those beds and pillows were absolutely comfortable. Restaurants nearby allow you to get a discount if you show them your room card, I recommend eating at "El Loro" delicious mexican food worth eating. No pets allowed. Not wheelchair accessible.Rooms: As much as the room was clean I kept finding dirt and other crumbs in the bed. The bed and pillows are VERY comfortable. The bathrooms were well done, and they leave you lotion, shampoo, and a soap bar with sufficient towels. They had a microwave, mini refrigerator, a closet (with hangers), and TV.Food & drinks: They needed to restock on vending machine items but they did sell sanitary pads for women in one of them. Their breakfast options in the morning are very nice as well they had boiled eggs, waffle batter, bagels, bread, yogurt(different options), milk, apple juice/OJ, and much more.

The hotel was clean and updated. Housekeeping was great at touching things up while we were at breakfast. Remember you are going to a Microtel - breakfast is limited and extras (like iron) are found at the front desk. Lots of restaurants near by. We used the hotel discount at the Perkins. Not far from Surf Ballroom right off of 35. Stayed here for Winter Party Dance.

I have a lot of photography equipment I travel with, so I was a little squished in the single queen bed room. But, the bed and pillows were soft to me and I slept good as there was no noise. The lady at the front desk was super nice and even held the door for me as I drug my wagon full of equipment inside. Edit: we stayed a second time recently and choose the 2 queen bed option. It was perfect.

Stayed here for one night in fMarch 2022. The front desk staff was very friendly. The hotel itself needs a bit of TLC. I felt like I couldn’t‘ t trust that my room was totally clean, because it showed so many signs of heavy wear. The shower head had two settings- painful or gushing. The drain looked pretty gross too. The walls all need repainted and are missing paint in lots of places. There was a wall to wall mirror in place of a headboard, and it was cracked and held in place with clear tape right over the bed. And one of the bath towels had an orange stain on it.That being said, the sheets and bedding looked clean, the ground floor window opened all the way and had a bug screen in place, and looked over a nice open field. The hotel is dog friendly (it does add an extra $10 a night to your room to bring your dog), and serves breakfast starting at 6am. Typical hotel breakfast- oatmeal, breads, fresh pancakes/waffles, yogurt, fruit, juice. Lots of well lit parking spaces, and tucked far enough off the road that I didn’t hear any road noise at night. The room also had a nice size fridge, TV, mini coffee maker, window seat, individual heat/AC unit under the window seat, and blackout curtains.Its a step up from a motel, but doesn’t really meet typical Wyndham standards.

Vintage hotel but has been kept up well. Unexpected stay and got a double queen for $88 (that included tax).Easy to get to and conveniently close to interstate 35.I actually loved the old style room. Never see mirrored walls and a window bench in modern places!Check in and out was simple and quick. Nice breakfast set up. Convenience stores, restaurants, gas, etc within walking distance or a short drive.

I wish I could give 5 stars since the room was clean and the staff was friendly BUT there was no microwave nor fridge in the room! The room was super tiny too. This isn't NYC with space at a premium - it's Iowa. For the price and competition in the area I expected more. Aren't fridges and microwaves STANDARD?? Even motel6 has them! Paid a higher end price to stay at a substandard hotel. Would not stay here again.

For the most part this place was good. The guy working was friendly and professional and everything looked clean and well kept. It was a small room, which was fine for me. I'm not sure how housekeeping let that bedding go though. Not only were there stains and spots, there was several holes in the blanket.

My friend and I had a very pleasant stay at the motel! Everything was so nice and clean, and the breakfast in the morning was nice too. My ONLY complaint was that when we went to heat some water for tea, the inside of the microwave was dirty! I'm sure just an oversight. I will plan on staying there again, though.

Do not stay here. The front desk employee was on what was obviously a persoal call and made me wait to check in. Only when another couple came i after me, did she finally end her call.Check-out is at noon. Starting at 11:11 a.m., Housekeeping and the front desk contacted me three separate times to ask if I was staying one more night or checking out. I had driven straight by myself 11 hours and wanted a leisurely morning. I checked out at 11:30 which was EARLY, but you would have thought I was HOURS late. Rude and uprofessional front desk employees.There is no place on the nightstand to plug in your cell phone or laptop. I had to sit on the floor by the bed to use that outlet.

I've stayed here many times over the years when visiting Clear Lake.This place has really declined during the pandemic. no working TV (this apparently was on ongoing problem that they were aware of but failed to mention in listing or at check in); toilet was broken; shower was broken; room carpet was dirty; common areas were dirty; breakfast lacked hot protein-very limited selection. When I complained about the TV the manager told me he wasn't the manager and he would need to talk to someone regarding the tv or the rate. Lodging at this interchange is challenging but might be better off with one of the higher priced options at this point.

Stayed here for two nights. Front desk staff nice, but room was not what the website shows. Checked for bed bugs & didn’t find any but we did kill 3 bugs in the room & one was in my bed. Room walls are super thin & you can hear everything in rooms close by. Side door to enter didn’t require a key because it was duck taped open. Won’t be back.

This Microtel was clean and tidy. We had been traveling all day and were beat by the time we made it here. The check in staff was friendly and helpful, especially with our family being so tired. The room had a refrigerator (which is important to us). Breakfast was good - bagels, toast, waffles, cereal, toast, milk and juice. My parents had stayed at this location before, so it was their second time staying here.

Both beds and the window seat in our room were coated in dog hair, even between the sheets. We requested a new room and got one. But there were blood stains on those sheets and brown marks on the pillow cases. When I told the clerk at the front desk, he said there was nothing he could do. He wouldn't move us or fix the sheets, so we left. He was rude and told me it wasn't his job to fix the sheets. It was a very disappointing experience. Don't expect cleanliness or kind service.

Stayed for a nearby Truck Show. Hotel is just off I-35 but road noise isn't noticable. Room was clean, Beds were comfortable. Didn't try the Breakfast but it looked about average for a Hotel. TV Channel system was a little over-complex but manageable. Would stay again.

Clean, small room convenient to the interstate and in a quiet area. Nice small breakfast included. Clean area. Would have rated higher but we had a ridiculous water saving nozzle on the bathroom sink. What a mess of a spray every time it was turned on. The genius that thought of that as a way to save a nickel never obviously used the sink.
