The manager in the Dept for tools and lawn and garden. They had a craftsmen wet dry vac advertised for 99 with 20 off with rewards card. First he didn’t want to open to check to see if it had the attachment that I wanted. Which it did. At check out rang it up for 99 dollars. Would not try and offer discount. Walked out probably list my business I’ll go to Ace in Charles City. He got an attitude immediately.

I came in for a couple of things. I was greeted at the door and was immediately assisted. I needed a new aerator for my faucet and some grill tanks filled. I was in and out and on my way in < 15 minutes. Good and friendly service.

Fantastic place to get odds and ends. I appreciate the staff and their willingness to helpAppreciate their small engine repair shop they have there too. Summerizing my Snow Blower and getting the lawn mower ready for the season. Pay extra to have them pick it up and drop it off. Totally worth the money.

Was going to work in the morning, but realized I forgot a hat. Dropped by and asked if they sold baseball caps. They don’t really sell caps but gave me one for free. Saved me from a lot of sun. Very nice people

I stopped at the Clear Lake store on Friday night at 7:55 after my granddaughter’s softball game as I needed to get a couple of bags of softener salt. Upon pulling up, they immediately took the open sign off the window, so I popped my head in the door and said “do you have any softener salt”. Three male were working ( ok, 1 was working and 2 standing around) and the one kid laughed and said “well yeah it’s outside”. I said “OK I didn’t see it”. He said “well there’s some in here if you want to look at it”. He was Not a polite person at all. So I paid for my 2) 40 pound bags of softener salt at the register and got ready to walk out the door. No one even moved to help me so I grabbed one of the bags and carried it out to my car and as I was putting it in the car the rude kid carried the second bag out. I told him thank you and left.Needless to say the customer service in that store is absolutely horrible so I will not be stopping at that location ever again.

Very friendly cashier. Clean and organized nicely. Wide variety of merchandise. Should find most anything you may need for any fix-it job. Many small kitchen appliances as well. Found what I needed immediately and if I had time I would have just explored the entire store. Felt like a corner mom and pop hardware store. Felt at home. Happily, I will return again and again.

Always friendly and prompt service. Great variety of products. Usually have our propane tanks filled here.***Had to edit review. Just be cautious about bringing your lawnmower to the "west side" for repairs. Was $40 more than quoted (never actually given a quote, had to ask 4 days later how much it would cost). Never received a phone call on status. Told multiple times (when I called) it would be ready or the parts were coming in the next day. Had my mower confused with someone else's so it was sitting there ready for at least a day.No communication unless I calledHigher than told it would take to repair

During this time, I provide grace to any retailer. However, I walked in & three employees were chatting, sitting down at the front of the store.. what do I care? More power to them, not a customer in sight, outside of myself, maybe they were all finished with daily duties?I had placed an online order & wanted to drop off dry cleaning. I informed one clerk and he promptly went to grab the order & another walked to the back to dry tiny.From the start the clerk, was “like don’t bother me. He completed the ticket & gave me to bag, I explain this was clearly way to small. To which he told me to go search & “ hope I find something” that will fit the comforter. I paused, “well, what if I don’t”? Not looking forward to search a huge trash can full of bags & seriously concerned this is the larger option presented by him from the start, He replied, “ well, not sure, you will have to figure it out”. At which point, I am rather annoyed now. If the place was busy, I completely understand a fiend for yourself situation. Empty???I dig through the large trash can & finally find a bag, while the ‘gentleman ‘ clerk watches. I finally go, “ your providing a service, your getting paid to be a pickup, maybe a little customer service wouldn’t be to much to ask. To which he explains, “ well it isn’t us, it’s a different company” beyond annoying. Clearly the hardware store is getting paid & I press.“ Simce this isn’t related to ACE, I guess when it’s time to get dry cleaning? Like a game? Ope, get to come in & guess the day? Because clearly there isn’t any customer service & the team views this isn’t related to you as a company? Not your problem right?His reply, no we call you. Mine… oh really? So it is your role to provide service to this service in store them? It isn’t to much to expect?His

A really nice employee named Jason helped me find exactly the part I needed and helped me find the other items on my list. He also helped to carry items to my car and was exceptionally professional and nice. I really appreciated all his help!

I needed a part...I had just accidently cut through my gas line while fixing my umbing and bathroom. Floor and I needed a 3/4 in connector called a union one gentlemen started to help me but when he couldn't find the part he simply walked away...such rudeness....I even brought the part with me...

Ace is pretty fantastic for a lot of things, but I don't enjoy it quite as much as I used to (I would have given a 5-star rating a year ago), due to sadly poor quality of quite a few everyday things I've bought there. It's either overpriced, or sub-par quality, unfortunately.To be clear - the employees and selection here are awesome, no doubt at all. It's just the quality of basic stuff that has disappointed me somewhat.

Small town store, I do take that into consideration. My problem is not with the store but with Ace Hardware company. Prices are too high, selection is terrible and they really don’t seem too concerned about wanting my business. The Ace rewards program is a joke! I get little cards in the mail but every time I try to use them they find a way to deny them. Either the card expired the day before, or the item I’m trying to purchase is on sale so it drops me below the ridiculous 20 dollar minimum. I understand you need to spend money to earn the reward but you keep sending me to your competition because I’ll actually save money by NOT shopping in Ace! Save yourself the postage and stop sending useless promotions.

Just stopped at your store..july 10 and wanted a marine Corp windsock...girl at front counter wouldn't even go look at them...called another girl she didn't know how to get it down so we said just forget it and as we walked out girl at register said she didn't want to get it down...she was too busy playing with her hair

For a hardware store they do not have a wide variety of hardware. The prices are way way to expensive for the convenience I guess otherwise I would go somewhere else by the time you go to ace hardware then find out they don't have what you need you've been wasting valuable time. Should've gone to Mason City to get what you needed

Had them pick up my snow blower because it wouldn't start. Called me a couple weeks later to tell me it wasn't cost effective for me to fix it. So in the end I was charged over 30.00 to be told what I already knew....it doesn't start.
