Paws volunteers are completely dedicated to all animals that come through the shelter doors. Applications are reviewed closely to ensure these animals never have to be homeless again. Paws has a big community presence by being on KCHA News every week, constantly fundraising, and promoting animals!

Steals peoples “lost” dogs and makes up stories so they can’t get their pet back. If you see a chihuahua up for adoption named Merry- that dog is named Cookie and has a loving family. They also took someone’s service dog and puppies and are charging that person $1600 just get their rightful dog back. Do not support them!!!

Shady shady shady. If you lose your dog, don’t count on getting them back. Have proof if you lost your dog? Doesn’t matter, they’ll adopt it to someone else. It’s heartbreaking watching your best friend lose her childhood dog.

We adopted a sweet pair of kittens in the fall from Paws, and they are now a part of our family. I can't say enough nice things about the organization. The volunteers love animals, and that is obvious in the care they give them!

We adopted from PAWS several years back. Our kitties have become part of the family. We visited the shelter to see a cat that I had previously seen at the Mason City PetCo and fell in love with. We adopted her and another kitten. They only charged us one adoption fee since we agreed to take two. (They had lots of cats at this time!) It was a wonderful experience and we love our cats very much!

PAWS is the best and most professional non-profit in Charles City. It's run entirely by volunteers... there is no "owner". The overriding philosophy is to match the pet with the home that is most compatible. In other words, the animal's welfare is paramount, as it should be. Over 2,000 animals saved and put into happy homes. Commendable. Negative reviews here are giving incomplete facts and circumstances and holding forth with personal grudges.

Found exactly the animal I dreamed of having and after I was approved I picked him up a few days later. Couldn't be happier with my adoption and I look forward to giving my new friend the great forever home he deserves.

They knowingly took in a stolen dog, and despite knowing where his owner lived, listed him on petfinder 3 days later and sold him out of state. They are being investigated for theft. This shelter needs shut down. I'd give a 0 rating if I could.

Was very interested in a companion dog even went up several times to play with her, filled out application before she was posted, just to get a call week later saying she is being adopted after they post her to Facebook. thought it was kinda BS.
