SOKO Outfitters is the go-to place for all your outdoor clothing, activity and accessory needs. They offer premium well known brands to local high quality brands all fairly priced. The employees are wonderful, intelligent and knowledgeable on recommending places that fit your liking wether hiking, kayaking, SUP’ing and more. Chad is an amazing guy highly recommend speaking with him on most all questions or recommendations. SOKO offers kayak and SUP rentals. Grey Duck paddle boards of various sizes for the appropriate paddle boarder at any level. Life vests, paddles and boards are all in great condition and clean. The shop you can find probably most if not all your outdoor/indoor needs. Highly recommend. Will end up leaving with a smile and happy on whatever purchase small or large. Out does any other outfitter shop out there.

I get a bad vibe here. Kinda mid selection with very limited sizes and colors. Some clever house branded merchandise though. Not cost competitive with online stores. Might be ok if you need something right now and can’t wait for Amazon to ship.

This is your one stop shop for all things outdoors, travel and adventure. But this isn’t just some sterile retail outlet with minimum wage employees who can barely run a cash register. This is a social hub of people who love the outdoors and travel and adventure. They live it and accordingly they are knowledgeable about it. They have presentations and speakers and events to get people socially mixing and to help fuel your wanderlust. This is the epicenter of a movement.

My lab has elbow dysplasia. I needed to find him shoes that would help him on slippery floors. I have ordered several online and have not found anything that is safe for him. I wanted to try the Ruffwear boots but no one carries them in stock locally besides SoKo. My lab and I went to the store and they helped us find the correct size, we tried in several sizes and realized the size he needed was much smaller than the sizing charts stated. I am very impressed. The patience and service they provided made my day. I will be back.

My friend, her son, and I went paddle boarding for the afternoon. The people were so helpful with our rental, had the straps and blocks needed for us to transport the boards, and even helped us secure them on top of our cars. It was our first time paddle boarding, and it went so smoothly. We had fun and can’t wait to try it again!!!! Highly recommend them!

I just bought my first SUP. I visited and talked to the employees twice before diving in and making the purchase. They are very knowledgeable and explained the pros and cons of each board and kayak. My pup even came with to help and got lots of attention!The puppy employees Benji and Katy are also a huge reason to visit SOKO.

I love this store! I can't remember the guy's name who always helps me, but he is a true expert on trail shoes. He always helps me find the right brand and the correct fit. My husband and I bought snowshoes here 2 years ago and got great advice, and subsequently have really used and enjoyed them. I've also had great luck with outdoor clothing....specifically the Kuehl and Toad n Co brands which as far as I know aren't available anywhere else nearby. My daughter and I also purchased backpacks for a 4-day 3-night hike in Wyoming, and got excellent advice on what to purchase for our needs. I've also had excellent luck with mittens, gloves, yoga mat, wool baselayers, and miscellaneous camping gear that I've purchased here. Overall, this store is a great outfitter, perfect for someone who loves and appreciates all things outdoors, in all weather!

I've really enjoyed my experience every time I've come to the store. I just purchased a Fjall Raven Winter coat on Christmas Eve. Two days later, I had put it on with some extra layers and the XL was TOO big still. I came back to do an exchange for a smaller size, no questions asked. The gentleman even remembered me and was extremely accommodating. They are really fun to work with and I am thankful they are in CR. Great selection of AWESOME gear too!

Wow! Customer service is amazing! They carry local and unique brands and everything you need for all your adventurous needs. They carry a huge selection of staples brands (like Patagonia and The North Face and yeti and hydro flask) but also carry unique items that other stores don’t offer!

My first ever visit to the store was amazing. I was very impressed with the selection of outdoor apparel. The staff (Cortney) was very knowledgeable about the inventory and was simultaneously helping 3-4 customers with ease. Their climbing equipment stock was low at the moment, but that was due to high demand after the DeRacho storm. I will definately be returning.

Staff really friendly and helpful. Was in the market for a bag and a staff member helped me try on all of them. Ofcourse I didn't know how to correctly put them on and they even had weights. I felt like I was using up 10-15mins of his time but eventually found a bag and a color that I liked.

Always impressed with this place. I have gotten a variety of items ranging from my backpacking backpack, freeze dried food, hiking socks, jeans and shirts, winter gloves. You name it, I have probably gotten it from here.There have been two times I’ve had to order petite size jeans. Cortney helped me both times ordering Prana jeans in the sizes I needed and colors I preferred. I love knowing I can get what I am hoping for and also need for my small frame and support an amazing business.Thank you, Soko outfitters~!

Edit. We no longer shop here. We stopped over a year ago after rude, no help with a warranty issue. The owner also said to me earlier when they didn't have my size in a pair of boots "you should have tried to purchase these sooner" I had purchased the same boots from him 6 months earlier. Great selection and helpful staff. Finally CR area has a outdoor activities store. Thanks

First went last fall during the Cider Sip and Shop, and was so excited to have a local outdoors shop in the area. Prices were very high, but that is to be expected. The customer service that night was amazing! Since then, it hasn’t been the same. On my most recent visit, my friend from out of town and I were the only customers, and both felt we were unwanted in the store. We were constantly watched by the owner/manager, as if he didn’t trust us. We felt very uneasy. The woman working there also talked me out of some hiking shoes that I was interested in, without a recommendation for a different pair. Only explained why those shoes would not be what I was looking for. Maybe we didn’t fit the profile of people that normally shop there, but I definitely do not want to return.————————-EDIT: I recently returned in search of a good pair of hiking shoes. I was pleasantly surprised with their selection, which in my opinion had even better variety than Scheel’s in Coralville. This time we had a pleasant young lady help us, who was kind and helpful. I had no problem paying a little extra for my shoes to support a local business. Glad I gave SOKO another chance.

SOKO is a wonderful gift to the local outdoor community. I have been in quite a few times and it seems every staff member is knowledgeable about the products they carry, and when they can't answer my questions they either find someone who can, or we research together.They have great deals that I get emails about and even host some fun events for community. Love this place. Seems like they have pretty much everything I might need, they even had bear spray! Good variety of things that matter like clothing and shoes, and the best options of more niche items like dehydrated meals and other camping/backpacking goods. Check em out, highly recommended.
