This Hy-Vee is only a convenience store for neighborhood people that are used to an occasional outburst of bad music n gunfire. Not sure why it is still open besides the fact that it's in the bad part of town. Hence the name Ghetto-Vee. It's sad to see other Hy-Vees closing down

Visited the pharmacy, I did have wait behind one customer, the clerk walked away assuming we were together.You would have gotten 5 stars if not for that.I bought some Fruity Chewy Lemonheads and left.

Not happy with HyVee and as a life long HyVee customer, I can say they are not doing what they can to keep these food prices reasonable. In fact, how is it a place that was always a little higher than HyVee now sells the same item for $12 LESS than HyVee. I feel like I'm bad mouthing family. HyVee only cares about "employee owned" with 1st/2nd generation baggers out of high school that are now retired and it IS NOT "a helpful smile in every isle"(this one does tho) It's now more like "do it yourself and we'll smile all the way to our corporate banks. Bring these prices down HyVee...Now Perk memberships too. The greed is unbearable in this day. We took care of you and helped you grow and now price gouging us to the point we eat bad, are gaining weight, tired all the time and lucky to get a nice balanced meal couple times a month. Ready to hype General Mills breakfast cereal for supper! Yay kids, let's go load up on a ton of sugar a couple hours before bed. Let's take away most options but our own brands and make selections smaller except for the pop, candy, chips. Get there early because they will run out of pet food by 3pm. Also be sure to check your dates. I have pulled so many out dated items out of their shelves and refrigerators. Most HyVees are huge superstores. This one is likely the smallest with some of THE highest prices. Why? Because it's low income and needy. They charge way more because of people on food stamps and disability are basically stuck to this store without a car. Goo is not going to allow all this experience and hurt feelings in this tiny box. Wish I felt better, makes me 😥

Always a fast go to when needing snacks or dinner supplies I like the store been shopping there since I was young and they always have the deals although now it seems the deals are part of the hyvee perks plus membership which now includes fuel saver deals and things I would actually use like earning digital coupons to save for later

The selection of just about everything excluding, hotdogs is minimal. The produce is always fair to low quality, with minimal variation. The prices are probably the highest out of any hy- vee, and sale items run out before I even make it there. I understand , south-east Cedar Rapids is the poorest and most crime ridden area of C. R. , which means for Hy-Vee, high theft / loss for the store . I'm a proud resident of the south-east, C. R. , but I can no longer afford to shop in my neighborhood food market. The quality per dollar I spend just doesn't add up anymore. I will say, in a positive light, most all the employees are friendly , and willing to help w any questions or needs I may have.

Clean store, well organized. Everything was easy to find. Could use more check out clerks so I don't have to use self checkout everywhere. It's very inconvenient and not really what I want to do after I just got done shopping but otherwise I love this location

WOW Mike Rangel store manager trainee let me know don't ever ask him for help He is bold disrespectful and so proud to be nasty to a Senior Citzen I am called corporate and apologized for going to that store I feel sorry for the people in the area This is store 1st Ave n.e not the best neighborhood but regardless people should be treated with respect . This guy is a store manager trainee he kept reaching in his pocket like he had a weapon

Oh my god I soon as I walked in I regretted it. It was so small and dirty and had a very ghetto feel. They didn’t have anything I wanted and the customer service was awful. I went to the register and the guy didn’t I even greet me I had to make the conversation and he was talking to someone else and I had to get my receipt and I said have a good day twice and got no response. Never going back !

Upon entering the store at 800pm, there were several homeless people ( they had suitcases and backpacks and utilizing hyvees electricity to charge phones) sitting inside on the scooters that are meant for disabled persons and physically in the way for me to get into the store. A store employee was vacuuming around them which confused me as I thought this was a grocery store not a shelter. Plus, really makes a person feel unsafe. I see there is a police officer there, but they did nothing about people at all. I did my shopping and then went to wait in line. I witnessed a store employee, aka assistant manager, began yelling and stating profanities at a customer as the customer asked if they could open a check out lane because self checkout had 16 people waiting. The employee told the customer she would not do that, people need to shop earlier than this time as they would be closing. The police officer witnessed all of this and again, did nothing. The last time I checked an employee can not or should never do this to a customer ever! Customers are the reason she has a job. Apparently, she forgot this training. I do not know her name, but she was a larger lady, about late 20s, or early 30s, big frizzy hair that was pulled back and in my opinion, needs fired. I can not believe this was tolerated in the store. I have never in my life seen something like this. Nor can I believe hyvee allowed this. The customer put items down and left. Another incident with this employee I occurred she freaked out on me when I asked to buy bags. I explained to her that the actual manager allowed me to before and only charged me 50 cents. She screamed at me and stated not there I didn't pay that price, that there was no way I only paid that. I let her know I had purchased them from the manager and she cut me off and said, "I am an assistant manager and you did not pay that price." Well, I did and have several times. I requested to buy them as I door dash and I shop for customers there and the bags break all the time. Regardless, I wanted to buy them and she charged me 3.00 for them. I paid it as I, unlike her, want my customers happy. I do not know why I was treated that way or the other customer. I feel the manager needs to address all of this. It's not okay. If you are going to work in customer service, you must have the skills to be respectful. This employee lacked it all.

Got rotten nasty spoiled ribs, shelves are bare, prices are comparable to other options, I am very much willing to pay more for fresh quality products that I dont have to return. This place is a no for me, once is enough, you are a grocery store, this just doesn't happen, it's not a mistake it's pure lack of caring or not caring about safe handling of meats.

Third time I have found expired products on the shelf. Do you even care? Meat cooler is running above 45 degrees, probably why it smells like rotten meat. Some mangers you got there, this is basic stuff.

This one no longer has dine in.An ancient, smaller store with less selection but crucial for many who live nearby. The great soda fountain and slushy island was also recently taken out.

Close significantly earlier than any Hyvee I've ever experienced 9pm every night understanding of the location of the store and type of crimes that have took place types of crime that have taken place over the last several years shutting down other stores completely in the area high crime rate in this area and lots of violent crimes take place too only helping me give Hyvee kudos for closing so early at this one location to protect there employees and costumers and all parties all around public or part of the Hyvee franchise or customer. I'm sure it's also a good thing for the community to have like reminder every night where is not so safe for certain people in the community to be in that part or just letting people know to be more alert or aware at that time of night.

Hi this is one of my favorite places they carry the best deals and they have the freshest produce and their meats are fresh and they are reasonable prices and I see all the people that I know and I get to talk to there. And all the cashiers are so polite and thankful and helpful I mean I love the place and I give it a standing ovation and the pharmacy is just as polite in courtesy and help you in any way possible Hy-Vee is a major major access to our neighborhood.

I love this grocery store. Everybody I run into here has a warm smile, customers and workers alike. It's always clean and easy to find what I need. I don't live close to it, but I do enjoy shopping here when I get the opportunity.

I get my treats &/or variety items curbside at HY-VEE. I take advantage of their smoker by alternating smoked chicken with pulled pork. I do wish there were more chocolate moose tracks in the cooler. Sad they discontinued bacon end pieces. Hassle finding butane, but compliment copy machine and dry ice. Only complaint is when I order online they can't process my EBT card and I have to let them physically swipe my card before pick up.

This may not be the biggest HyVee in the CR area but it has quite a bit of stuff for a smaller store. I found more than I was looking for and it was a pleasurable experience for being the first time in this store. They had so much more than I expected and it was a nice quick trip in and back out to get back to my daily chores. Being retired I find that I work longer hours and a lot harder than when I was employed. You have to know when to quit and hit the grocery store for dinner. Thank you HyVee.

Clean, nice and has a bar/restaurant and a beautiful floral department. The flowers and plants sold outside every year are a huge selection. I buy my garden plants here every year. Sometimes this store has live bands outside in the sitting area and often in the bar too. All this in a grocery store :)

I felt dirty when I left this store. I sanitized when I got to my car and couldn’t wait to get home to wash my hands. When I gave my 91-year-old dad his items (he was separate in his car), I told him to sanitize them when he got home. We still have a pandemic, and they don’t even clean the belt! This picture doesn’t show it that well.The self checkout (I first went there) was worse, but there’s no reason when a cashier is right there (and unmasked) she can’t keep it clean. She said nothing when I mentioned it and took a picture. I had to ask her to put my items in a bag. She made no eye contact and I couldn’t get her to interact or smile. (I finally did at the end.) Her attitude just added to the feeling of filth.This is the first time of actually going inside this location store. HyVee needs to train better!

This woman Andrea at the customer service counter was very rude to me and refused to help me even though I did nothing to provoke that reaction. Save-A-Lot is a lot better it's on 16th avenue Southwest over by check village they got way better quality of food too
