NO Stars!!!!!!!!! This is the only the second review I have ever done. That will tell you how bad they did.All they do is lie to you. Took 8 screens in to get fixed. They said 7-8 days. Went in 11 days later was told a couple of days. Went in after 5 days not done. Called was told they would get to them Tuesday or Thursday. Went in on Friday Different guy told me sorry we'll get right to it I'll have it done tomorrow and call you on Sunday. Went in the store on Sunday still not done. They finally did them on Monday almost 4 weeks later. They also said they could build a frame just like we had. FRAME WAS NOT EVEN CLOSE. No clips or latches to hold in. Would not work....They Ruined the other screens. They pulled the screens too tight and bowed the frames. Now the bottom and top is bowed 1/4 inch in the center. Bugs won't come in that will they. TAKE YOUR WINDOW AND SCREENS SOMEWHERE ELSE. What a joke....

Husband wanted wire glue; went to other hardware stores -- they didn't have it and couldn't order. Not with Best Hardware. They didn't have it but they did order it for me. Even though they didn't usually carry it. They went above great customer!!! Thank you my husband is a happy camper.You ask what is wire glue? I have attached a picture and the explanation on the pkg says "Wire Glue is an electrically conductive, water-based adhesive for use as a replacement for soldering in all types of low voltage, low current electrical connections both indoors and outdoors. Wire Glue features durability and weather protection from the elements, is chemical and oil resistant.My husband said it definitely did the job he wanted it to do.

I prefer going here rather than the "big-box" stores. The staff is so much more friendly and knowledgeable! They have pretty much everything I need - sometimes the selection isn't as vast, but for any of the traditional hardware store needs, they're great! Typically in and out very quickly and I always feel better when I leave this store rather than frustrated like the other places.Also, it smells like a hardware store... not sure how else to describe it, but it's comforting!

Absolutely love this place. They go out of their way to help and have really good ideas for fixing things when the traditional way of fixing it just won't work. The service, help and patience isn't something you will find at most stores.

Wouldn't have given a star, but can't review without one. I will NEVER go here again. They are not upfront about additional fees for rental. No matter how much you clean the equipment, they will claim it's not clean and charge a "cleaning fee". Totally dishonest in my book.

My wife didn't get any true customer service this afternoon. It was because the man that helped her is disabled. The young lady that rang my wife up seemed unappreciative of our business. I talked to Andy, the store manager, and he shared that sometimes folks have bad days. He's right....the owner has a heart and she does care about our satisfaction.

Drop off window to be repaired and after 3 months when you call they say. Oh we have to order that glass it will take another 3 weeks. I took my window back without repair. Don't waste your time.

Good local hardware stuff. The staff inside is very helpful and always have plenty of employees working to help for your needs.They also offer tool rentals as well.Has that feel you expect from a smaller mom and pop store.I love that they are close by my home and very easy to get to as well. Decent sized parking lot.

First time and last time customer! Was referred to Edgewood Hardware to get a propane tank filled. After paying for the refill older gentleman followed me outside asked me where the tank was I responded it's in my truck I'll get it. I was getting it out of my truck and I turned around and he was gone so I sat It On The Ground behind my truck and waited. A few minutes went by he poked his head around the building and he said hey do you want that thing filled up or what but the very rude tone in his voice. I said yes but I didn't know where you went I turned around and you were gone. He proceeded to tell me that if I wanted I could just go back in and get my money back that he didn't really want to fill my tank up for me. I said I'm sorry but I didn't know where you went he said we'll get it over here. He proceeded to argue with me the whole time we were filling the tank I even asked him if he was the owner and he said yes. So when I got home I called back to the store I found out that he is not the owner but just a manager. With that kind of attitude I don't think she should be a manager maybe he should be out scrubbing the parking lot until he learns how to treat customers. I went back to the other local business who referred me to Edgewood Hardware told them about my experience. I warned them because I did not want them sending any of their customers to this place and damaging their reputation. Honestly I cannot believe I got that kind of customer service from a business that has been around so long. I have heard people talk good about this business so I did not have a problem going there. But now I wish I would have driven the distance to Iowa City to A1 propane instead.

Went in to buy a battery power drill all boxes empty, sign says take box to cashier for drill, cashier says he don't know where they keep the drills says he will have to find someone who knows. I told him to forget it. Not a good way to do business.

The staff is always super friendly anf helpful, and they have a great selection of various items. We live on the SE side of Cedar Rapids, but we always make the trek across town to go to this store. They carry high quality dog and cat foods, too!

I love the small neighborhood feel to this store. I enjoy going in and just looking around but I always end up buying something. All the staff is super helpful and want to make sure you're taken care of.

My husband had to rent a crimper for new water lines. The guy was very helpful and nice helped him find everything he needed, he thought. Once he got everything in place realized the piece he gave him was the wrong size. So he went back in the morning (after paying the overnight rate) to get the right size the guy working in the morning was very rude, hardly acknowledging my husband was waiting. He gave him the right size and instead of letting him take a half an hour quick to get the job done ,said he would need to charge him for another 4 hours. My husbamd said no and said he wanted his deposit returned. The morning employee ruined the experience won't be giving them anymore of our money.

A few weeks ago after driving over a pot hole my fender liner on my car snapped off and was blowing in the wind. I needed a temporary solution in order to get home safely and stopped at the Edgewood Hardware store in search of some tape. I told the very nice man working at the store what had just happened and he went out of his way to come out and take a look at my car to see if he had the parts needed to fix it. Although he didn’t have the right parts, he told me what parts were needed and even showed me how to fix it! He also kindly taped up the liner so that I could get home safely. I will definitely be returning to this hardware store!! Excellent customer service and very friendly employees.

The help was horrible. We bought a light from the Restore that didn't come with the hardware. Stopped at Edgewood Hardware to see if we could find the something that would work. As I was looking a man asked if I needed help. I told him the situation about the light and his response was "That's why you don't buy stuff like that there. We won't have anything like that. You'll have to go talk to them (Restore)." He walked away. I found the $2 part that I needed, paid, and left. The part worked great. I feel like it was a "that's what you get" moment from him.

Horrible place to shop and get helpful service. If you don’t like there lack of service, they will tell you to leave. They have no empathy for your time wasted waiting for help. Whatever happened to the customer is right? During these hard times you would think small businesses would do anything for business, this place can go under and it won’t upset me one bit.

Had a wonderful experience today at Do it Best Hardware. Billy helped us with cutting an extra key for our new to us gmc truck. He went out of his way to make sure the key worked in the truck and gave excellent suggestions on how to fix our ignition problem.

I love this store, they've got all kinds of useful stuff, the most unusual soda selection, pet supplies, fishing gear, and a very helpful and friendly staff. I took my girlfriend there today and she was quite fond of it as well.

I live this place and use to rate it a 5 until I made a return there for a electric stapler that wouldn’t work. The return process was terrible. A supervisor came up and asked if I had the air turned up in my electric stapler, which obviously wasn’t the problem. What a utter joke for a simple return!

This is a GREAT hardware store!They are very friendly and helpful. For a small store they really do have a great selection and most of the time I find what I need. (And then some lol!)

This is truly an "old fashioned" hardware store! Hard o find parts? They have them. Notice a lot of contractors, plumbers, maintenance company trucks in the lot, which is a good sign. Staff are mainly retired guys who know there stuff, and are always willing to offer suggestions on any project or problem you are having. Their window department repairs your windows (including thermopanes), screens, doors, and even light electrical (lamps, etc.). Been going here for years!

Best hardware store in town! Carries products you won't find at big box hardware stores like Menards or Lowes. The staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable, and are there to help immediately, unlike the big box employees who always seem to be hiding somewhere back by the loading dock. I'd give them 6 stars if I could!

Great service, just like local hardware store should (by many don't any longer). If you want helpful service, go here instead of the big box stores. If you're looking for hardware, you can even buy individual screws...instead of the whole box.

My favorite hardware store. Very old timey and traditional. Prices are competitive. Always help available. Get your propane filled here, kerosene or screens and windows fixed! Very knowledgeable staff. Old time sodas and candies here as well. It's where I get the drinks to make perk a cola bottles from bo2!

I bought a snowblower on Thursday. Charged it up and got ready for this weekend's snow. I didn't even complete one pass before it died. Loaded it in my car and took it back. The sales guy I worked with talked to the owner but he refuses to take the blower back. Told me to call the manufacturer to get it repaired. Repaired! I never even got to truly use it. They sold me a lemon!

They are so helpful and have staff that are willing to help answer questions. They stock about everything you might need. Very friendly and knowledgeable. I also like that they are locally owned.
