Finally got out to see these beautiful dogs today and was not disappointed! Bret will answer any questions you may have about the breed. The dogs are all so wonderful in their own way. Amazing how these large animals can be so docile and pup-like, even at 150 pounds.

My fiance and I had such a great time with Brett and "The Boys" yesterday!! Your money goes directly to providing the dogs the exciting and comfortable life they so truly deserve. You'll see some negative reviews on here. Brett had his start unconventionally, and started all of this because he just had dogs that people wanted to pet. He also wrote a book with his first Malamute (Max) as one of the main characters. Because his dogs are big and fluffy and wonderful, people were just just walking up to his house, asking to pet his dogs, and they were not being respectful of the dogs. They are not an attraction, they are an opportunity to connect with other members of nature. You'll also see in those negative reviews that they mention Galena. The family has since moved to Bellevue, Iowa, and they have further figured out this "tourism thing." The dogs (and Brett and Kim) have 5 acres instead of one-half acre, and they are so dang happy. Brett is not the grump depicted in those reviews either, albeit not anymore. We were afforded the opportunity to converse like old friends. A completely new environment can do wonders for a person.Brett knows his dogs, so listen to the guidelines he conveys. With everyone's risk mitigated, you get to enjoy these dogs and people in their own home like part of the family. Those dogs loving to meet new people are what drives this ship. Don't miss the opportunity to be covered in Malamute hair and unconditional love.

Great educational opportunity to learn about this magestic breed (The Alaskan Malamute) in both its Giant and Standard formats. The large pack of 15 Mals will steal your hearts and leave you dreaming about your experience for years to come. 👍🏼

Gorgeous, gracious, affectionate dogs, beautiful landscape, and wonderful humans. A fantastic experience for anyone interested in learning more about and spending some time with one of the original working breeds. The owner is not an angry, rude white man as some prior reviews have stated. Quite the contrary. These are people who understand and respect the breed. As a former Malamute owner, if you pulled up and sat in my driveway I would have the same reaction. He was protecting and controlling the pack. Understand the breed before you place judgment. Thank you Plumery Tails for giving me and my family a day of sheer joy! Highly recommend!

This place is absolutely amazing! I have been there two times so far, and every experience is a blast! The owners Brett and Kim are AMAZING ! They truly love their animals and what they do. They do this because their dogs truly enjoy meeting every single person! The dogs are absolute sweethearts, and love everybody! I would not believe any of the one star reviews! They obviously have never been there, or were very rude to the owners because they expect everything to be handed to them for free! If you have have been there then you would know.... they do have a fence!! People are just rude and think it's okay to just walk on through! It's a place you can visit, but it is still their home, and everybody should be respectful. Please give this place a chance you will not regret it! Every time we come down here for vacation that will be a must do! Last time they only had 8 dogs now they have 9! Each experience is different and is always rewarding.

My mother, sons (3 and 1) and myself were treated so horribly by the owner, we definitely do not recommend this place to anyone visiting or local to Galena. After trying to call all morning but getting a busy signal because the number that connected from the website was wrong, we decided to walk over to see if we could get information and set up a time to meet the dogs. It's a short walk from my house and when we got there we were mindful to stay far from the fence and dogs, and we went directly to the "gift shop". The owner had run out to put the dogs away, then begrudgingly came to the shop and asked what we wanted. I explained about the phone and showed him the problem, which he blamed on me (as if I put his incorrect phone number onto his website). Then I asked for information and if we could set up a time to see a dog or dogs (since my kids are young I knew seeing the dogs through the fence to learn about them and maybe buy a book was about all we were going to hope to do, which would have been great for them!). Instead of explaining anything like a civil human, he rudely exploded saying things like "this isn't a petting zoo", "kids shouldn't be here anyway" and "why don't you teach your kids to read and buy my book rather than putting them in front of a massive dog who sees your kid as a play toy!". I stood there shocked and tried to make him understand we were only trying to support his local business and have a fun thing to do in the neighborhood that we could recommend to others, but he was not willing to listen to reason or genuine communication. He just wanted to bully us and be angry. If he doesn't want people walking into the driveway, a gate would do wonders! Implying that it's an "amusement park" sure suggests it's a welcoming and kid-friendly place. Don't be fooled - this is not welcoming, friendly in any way (except probably the dogs, I'm sure they are sweet and innocent of their owners aggression), or a place to be recommended.

We had such a wonderful time while being there. The dogs are bigger than you'd ever imagine and they're so friendly! The owners, Brett and Kim, are very open and informational about their business as well as the dogs and their breed.I would suggest this to anyone who loves dogs and dog kisses!

I love this family of humans and dogs. The information learned about this breed was so interesting. Beautiful afternoon spent with Bret, Kim and the pups. This was our third trip and there will be more!!

We noticed this place on a trip to Gelena / Dubuque and were intrigued. However, when we approached to read more and understand what they actually did, a man, perhaps the owner, aggressively yelled to get away from the property and if we took any pictures, to delete them. We had questions about this place and the man had no interest in responding to our curiosity. This was one of the most bizarre experiences we have ever had and seems like a really poorly managed business. We would not be surprised if this was more of a scam and less of an honest business.

I have NEVER been treated so horribly out of the blue! My family and I visit Galena at least once a month and we always pass the dog amusement park, not quite sure what it is. So, today, Sunday May 8th..Mother's Day, we decided to drive there to find out what it is,something for us to experience with our 3 girls. We pulled in the parking lot looking for a sign of exactly what it is or pricing; any information. We no sooner pulled in and a man waked out of the building instructing us to park. I asked "I'm not sure what this is, can we come in?" Completely out of the blue he starts shouting at us saying "I have people coming here all day, either park and come in or leave." I'm still in shock, we wanted to do something special for mother's day, but you, will NEVER get any of our business with how you treated us. We couldn't leave quick enough.

The owner's dog bit a piece my niece's ear off; she will forever be missing a part of herself and has to deal with the trauma of being bit by a dog at age 5. The owner blamed her family, refused to take any responsibility, and has been horrible in every way imaginable since. The fact that this man still has his business astounds and disturbs me. It is not the dog bite that mostly bothers me, although that is certainly upsetting. It is his response to it. It's how he treated my family afterwards. For obvious reasons, I would not recommend a visit.

Best place to visit!! I will go back again and again every time I pass the area. I do not live close at all to Plummery Tails in Galena but now that I know they are there, I will visit each time. We had the best times with the dogs and the owners are just really down to earth loving people.

I came here last year and my heart was filled with joy. I talked about it all year and looked forward to meeting these awesome people and their canine crew! I was saddened to hear that you all moved. Wishing you all the best.

Don't go there unless you're younger than 18. I booked a tour (talked to them by phone), I didn't find anything about age on the homepage (only size) and we drove two hours to be sent home right away because we were 16 and 17.
