Delicious food. At least burgers and fries. Fries tasted like they were fried in clean oil. Chocolate shake was great. One issue was we ordered a burger supposed to have lettuce and tomato but didn't. They are new. Was originally same restaurant but then sold and remodeled on the inside. Looks nice and they were nice. One thing I think they could benefit from is paying attention more, at least ask about recipes, and to continue to be clean. Again great food, but just need to keep everything clean and keep up the good service. There was some smears on the window but that could've been earlier. One thing I thought was odd was that the employees don't get discounts when not working. Overheard that.

If you're looking for a home cooked small town style meal, here is where to get it. Had the special of the day which was meatloaf, mashed potatoes and a side of veggies- and it was perfect. The decor is retro/diner with several seating areas in different themes. Small Town style atmosphere, laid back and a quick stop for a good meal.

I stopped in on a long drive across Iowa headed home. I don't mind a place changing...but make sure you train your waitresses. It was 5 minutes til 4 and I couldn't order dinner said it wasn't 4 yet. Then I got a Beef Dip...no swiss cheese, and no side. A glass of water. The young waitress brought my food out....I burned my tongue on boiling au jus....never was asked how food was, do I need anything else, etc. No extra napkins. For 11 dollars for sliced roast beef on a bun...nahh....sorry I'm gonna make sure my friends and family know. You could add sides with a sandwich to tired travelers...Next time I'll go to Wendy's

We were traveling back from Omaha, and my dad can't use technology well. He managed to find a place to eat just a mile up the road. It's a cozy mom and pop joint. We sat down and ordered and a few minutes later the Owner? Came out and told us that one of the cooks was having a medical emergency and our food would be delayed. While the wait was a while, she came back out and said that was the first meal she's cooked here. We got 2 sandwiches and a grilled chicken meal and it was all good. Very friendly, and they made the best out of a very poor situation. Defiantly would recommend to everyone, and I can't wait to come and have a proper visit again.

Awesome Place!!!!! totally Mom and Pop. The Owner is awesome as well, and the older waitress who works in the morning and pretty much does all the waitress work is totally cool too.Full homestyle service with real home cooked meals the owner Cooks everything herself!!! Bless her heart. There's a help wanted sign for a cook in the window as you walk in, as I mentioned she a workhorse and she does all the work in the kitchen herself she pretty much runs the whole kitchen and everything else. She can't find a cook I can't understand this, what's America coming to folks.Folks let's please support our mom and pop small businesses as they are the backbone of our economy. If you're looking for a quick fast greasy meal then go to a fast greasy food joint, but if you'd like to step back 30 40 years in time and have a good quality meal that won't break the bank and it's delicious, then stop here at the this restaurant.Highly Recommended to all travelers going east or west on i-80 and US highway 59 North or South. Especially recommended to all workers and truckers traveling through needing a good meal please stop here you'll be glad that you did.THUMBS UP to another down home place. Lacey just started. Very good bartender and think she will do great.👍👍👍👍🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷🇱🇷!

Have tried this place multiple times in hopes my horrible first visit was a fluke. It was not. Had the buffet. There was little on it, and what was there was awful. The chicken was so dry it was inedible. (I took it home to the dog who was equally disappointed.) There was some kind of grey mystery meat which I took a pass on.The rolls were hard as hockey pucks. There was little on the salad bar. The only good things were so far back under the protective cover they couldn't be reached. Having given it 6 chances, I'm done. Very sad!

Stopped in for lunch in the middle of a drive across Iowa. Didn’t know what to spect when we walked in, except that it was clearly different than all the usual suspects for dining along an interstate highway, I-80. Patrons all seemed to be local families and farm workers. The menu is traditional midwestern American. My wife ordered the pork loin sandwich. The pork loin had been pounded thin, breaded, and deep fried perfectly. When served, the cutlet extended beyond the bun at least an inch and a half in every direction. Mayonnaise was served on the side; mustard was also available.I ordered the grilled chicken salad. Perfectly grilled chicken breast was sliced and placed atop iceberg lettuce along with sliced hard boiled egg, shredded cheese, and tomato (exactly as described on the menu). The buttered toast on the side was better than the usual rendition of Texas toast. The highlight for me was the dressing. The first one mentioned by the server as she started reciting the litany of dressing choices was Dorothy Lynch. Being from KY, I had never heard of it. But being intrigued, I ordered it. I loved it!With further research I discovered that it was invented by a woman of the same name from Nebraska, and its popularity has blossomed across the region. It was patented and is now manufactured in Columbus Nebraska. But, I digress. Lunch at Embers was simple but well prepared, and under $10 per person. Service was friendly and efficient. Highly recommended.

Great food, great service, clean, reasonably priced, and some cool collectibles on display. i was thinking barbecue based on the name but more of a steakhouse/diner menu. The family walked away very happy with full bellies.

Good food, excellent price. An entire meal is like 6 dollars. Feels like a restaurant and bar straight out of WW2. Would recommend for the weary traveler.

Wandered over here from the truck stop after a long day of driving. What a cool place. Friendly staff, delicious patty melt and broccoli soup. Fellow truckers sick of same old truck stop slop, check this place out.

The service seemed to be lacking. We sat there for approximately 10 minutes and I had to get up and ask somebody to come over and take our order. The young lady said she did not see us walk in. We placed our order and we did not get our soup or salad until after the entree came. Two entrees came out and one did not. And we still waited approximately 5 to 7 minutes before getting the final entry. Then we had to ask where our soup and salad was. The young lady didn't seem to have a clue. The steak that one of us ordered was hardly edible. Paying $21.95 for a steak and not being able to eat it was not a good thing. The other 2 entries were pretty good. Then when it came time to pay nobody was asked nobody was at the desk to take our money. Our waitress kept looking at us from the back part of the dining area but didn't come up to take care of us. Someone else finally did. After we paid nobody said thank you. They took our money and we just left. Hardly worth the $53 not including the tip that we paid. Was definitely well below average of any restaurant we've been to.

Waited 45 minutes to get food and the waitress never once came over to say anything about the long wait. They appeared to be doing a lot of take out orders. There were not many people eating inside so felt we were owed the courtesy of why it took so long to get our food! I Do NOT recommend the Walleye special on Friday nights. In the first piece of fish I found 2 thin little pieces of fish the size of the dime. The second piece of fish was about 2" long and very thin. It was all coated with lots of batter that was fried until it was hard so the fish looked like you had a bigger piece of fish.....Guess the fish weren't biting too well that night!!😊 Luckily we had met up with friends we hadn't seen for a while so had lots of time to visit to pass the time while we waited for our food!P.S. I do recommend Grandma's Diner in the same town. It's just a little hole-in-the wall with great homemade food and friendly service!
