Wanted some coffee on the road between Omaha and Des Moines. Searched for coffee along my route and saw Barley and Beans, and had to take a look. It’s tucked away in Avoca but very easy to get to from 80.Worth the stop! Menu has something for everyone, from regular drip to espresso drinks. Being on the road I didn’t want something huge so I got an 8 oz cappuccino. 10 pounds of flavor in a 5 pound bag! Very friendly staff too. Wish I’d been by later in the day /when I was done driving for the day, would have loved to stop for a beer or charcuterie plate.It’s a well-thought out space with something for everyone. Definitely recommend.

The customer service was extremely friendly. I absolutely love the atmosphere in this place and the drinks are absolutely amazing. Will be back! Highly recommend even if you don’t like coffee, they have a wide smoothie selection as well, just amazing.

Asked for a large iced coffee and I watched the woman make like 6-8 shots of espresso and dump it on ice and it was the grossest coffee I’ve ever had in my life. That’s not what an iced coffee is.
