Decent enough food but a very small kitchen that gets terribly backed up. Waits between 30-45 minutes or more are common before receiving your order. Our record is a 60 minute wait with some patrons getting frustrated enough to just walk out. The biggest issue is that the front of house staff never warn you. You only find out the kitchen is backed up if you get tired of waiting and ask. I get if you're having staffing issues or a kitchen that can't handle a rush due to its size, but then be upfront about it with customers.

The one in Ankeny has a decent menu and a little more variety than other Smokey Rows. It is cleaner and staff friendly enough. The restaurant has a lot of different spaces. You can hang out and play games while drinking your latte. Good place to bring your laptop etc.

First time here. Was really suprised at the variety of options on the menu. Breakfast, coffee, and icecream.The waffle sausage, egg and cheese sandwich was surprisingly delicious. The waffle had a candied syrup crust flavor to it that was really good, but at the same time was fluffy and moist. We also tried one in a biscuit. Depending on if your in the mood for savory or sweet both would be good.The biscuits and gravy were good as well. The gravy reminded my S.O. of one of his favorites. There was plenty of gravy, enough for 2 biscuits even though the half order we got only had 1 biscuit.The mocha Latte I got was good, but a little too sweet. Next time I'd try a flavored Latte or Breve without the mocha to see if I like it better.

Worst service ever!!!! Stood at the front for about 5 minutes without being acknowledged, while four people stood around talking in the back. It took another 15 minutes to receive my coffee. The floor was dirty near my table, with cracker crumbles and debris. The person making coffee looked like they hate life. This establishment has a lot to learn from a Starbucks culture and service. Definitely avoid coming here ever!!!!!!

The good:Atmosphere is good at this place. Plenty of windows to sit next to and lots of outlets to charge your laptop. Wifi speed is good, at around 90mbps.The bad:Service was pretty slow for how empty the place was. There was someone wiping down the counter when I got there, and I waited 5 minutes while she finished before she even acknowledged that I was waiting.I got a Chicken-inni sandwich and it was not very good. The sandwich lacked flavor and the chicken inside tasted as though it had been boiled not grilled. The sandwich itself fell apart as I ate it.

Supper nice place!! Very helpful and Friendly staff. Update 11/17/22 I so enjoy this place. To meet up with friends or with family. The food is good, coffee, from what I hear is great. Not a coffee friend. I do love the Chai latte and the decaf tea. Most of all I enjoy the atmosphere, not quite the same as the downtown store. Yet, is suits Ankeny. Come and see for yourself. And you can get a bag of your favorite coffee for a gift or for yourself.

I just want to say Thank you to the girls working on 12/3 you guys made my night better.I went through and accidently honked my horn in the drive thru, then when I got up to the drive thru my gift card I had just got last week was not working😫 any way it was a rough day and they were so sweet an kind. I love the atmosphere here. Its always nice and relaxing and clean. I love to come here and study or chill. It's so calm. The music is really beautiful! And the coffee is delicious. The employees are so amazing and helpful. Definitely stop by!

Great vibes. Cool and clean building. Very slow service but at least they're friendly, ish.Worst part is the coffee is just frankly gross. I'm a bit of a coffee freak so I understand my expectations may be higher.... but even a Starbucks or Caribou beats this place out. I've tried different beans, different locations, different flavors... And it's just not good coffee. They also didn't know what a cortado was, and that's not THAT niche of a coffee drink. Oh well!I'll come back for the vibes and pastries if I get bored. That pumpkin muffin was awesome.

I'm at Smokey Row multiple times within any week. It's a pleasant place to hang-out, catch-up on work or socialize. I get coffee here regularly. But not because the coffee is great. Because it's not. Their coffee is no better than the coffee you can get at the gas station. The people who work here (Ankeny) are always pleasant and helpful.The food that I've had here is actually really good.

I have loved Smokey Row in Des Moines for a long time although have not been there lately. Met a friend here the other day and as another review said it felt like you were keeping them from doing something else. Service was fairly quick, but the attitude of the employees was horrible. Then unfortunately I spilled my whole drink and I went to the baristas and told them, apologizing for making the mess, but I told them it was a mess they would have to clean up because a napkin or two would not have done the job. They looked at me like it did not even register what I had said. About 15 minutes later they came a cleaned up the mess and let me tell you it needed a mop and bar towels. If they would have provided the equipment i could have cleaned it up I guess, but really it is their job to do. I am sorry it happened. I lost my whole $4.95 drink and did not get another one. So I paid you with tip $6+ and did not get to drink my chai tea. Not complaining about that, it was my spill. However, I will never go back OR it will be a long time. Good luck staying in business, it is a beautiful coffee shop. I cannot speak to the quality of the product. The service...sucks

got a coffee through the drive through (plain latte with oat milk) and was pleasantly surprised. Service was lovely and the coffee is yummy! The espresso itself is a little weak for my taste but not bad:) overall a good latte and a good experience. would reccomend

We stopped in about 30 mins before closing and the employees seemed annoyed. The coffee was good, and the place was clean. It was actually a cool shop and I'd love to go to another location and see what all they offer. I just felt like they were upset we were there. Meanwhile, there were other customers sitting at tables...Wheelchair accessibility: First floor, wheelchair accessible. Tables with chairs which is helpful for customers in wheelchairs

I ordered a yogurt parfait… the yogurt was low-quality and the fruit consisted of fake cherries and grenadine. I know yogurt probably isn’t their forte, but it certainly wasn’t worth the price.On the plus side, the dining area was very beautiful, functional and clean.

Great atmosphere, large enough space that it’s good for groups and/or sitting alone. Plenty of outlets available & WiFi to bring your laptop for work or studying.The coffee is great. The baked items are wonderful, my favorite is the chocolate scone. The breakfast/lunch food is usually great, but it sometimes depends on who is working.Only reasons for not providing a 5-star rating - for some reason the women’s bathroom has trouble with sewer gases rising up through one of the grates. The smell doesn’t leave the bathroom but it makes using the bathroom *very* unpleasant.Also, sometimes there’s quite a lot of trash and/or crumbs/stickiness left on many of the tables after the morning rush that does not get cleared for hours (if at all), so I’ve had to bus my own table before sitting.

Unfortunately, after todays experience I most likely won’t be back I ordered through the drive thru, when I got to window the worker started handing me drinks that weren’t mine, I stated what I had ordered. After a few minutes, he informed me that my stuff would be free due to charging my card on the wrong ticket. I had asked for a canceled payment receipt. He couldn’t print one or tell me the total that was charged. While waiting for my sandwich, I was brought 2 orders that weren’t mine. I’ve had a few other mishaps at this location but nothing like this.

LOVE! I visit every time I stay in Iowa.There's lots of seating AND charging plugs.My only complaint is that when I ask for no foam that doesn't mean there's an inch of void space - fill up the cup. I have to offer to pay more EVERY time so the baristas will fill up the cup properly.I was a barista for years so I'm calling out shenanigans here.
