BAD STOCK, BAD SALESPEOPLE... Worst Ace EVER... Sales people must have never seen a guy with long hair cause every customer service rep refused to talk or even make eye contact with me. Been there 4 times now lookin for things to fix the house but they are always out. They never know when stuff is coming in either. I never leave reviews but dang this was a terrible place. Pass on by if you can go to walmart where its cheaper and in stock!

I'd give this place zero stars. Helpful hardware place is an absolute joke. Employee had every excuse under the stars about why they couldn't cut a couple of keys, but the guy at Ankeny hardware was more than happy to. But don't worry, I won't ever come back to inconvenience the employees. This place sucks.

Friendly service every time you walk in the store. The small engine repair shop really sets this place apart. Wouldn't take my snowblower or lawnmower anywhere else.

I can’t say enough good things about this business! But the customer service is by far the best! Someone always takes the time to ASK ME what i need and provides expert advice! I explain my project and a worker will think of everything i could possibly need for it! Our latest project was painting our inserts and we got all our supplies and paint from here!

I live 5 minutes from two big box hardware stores, but choose to drive out of my way to go to Ace Hardware. Every time I need help finding something, a knowledgeable person will show me exactly where the product is. Everyone is friendly and the store is big enough to have what I need yet not so large that it’s overwhelming. If you sign up for their rewards they will send nice coupons in the mail, and the 3% back with the Apple Card is great too!

Need to update your google if you are closed. Just drove to this location in the Blizzard to get a shovel because it said you guys where open. Sat in the parking lot and watched 10 different cars pull up trying to get in as well. Don’t say you’re open if you’re not.

I had two things going on at once. Started my snow blower, didn't work very smooth called ace. They picked up the blower and had it running great in a few days. I also had two cracked basement windows. Went to Ankeny Ace talked to John, he cut some plexiglass for me while I waited. Recommended some caulking went home and fixed the two windows. They are not always the cheapest but they know what their doing.

Usually you are greeted here with someone asking how they can help you. I was ready to buy a lawn mower on the spot but had a couple questions. It was lunch time and they had more traffic than usual but I waited a good 10 minutes and walked the store end to end. Disappointed as service is this stores usual trademark.

Great customer service. Immediately after me and my girlfriend walked in the front door we were greeted by an employee and he helped us find exactly what we needed - which was a godsend because I had no idea what we were actually looking for to fix a cracked pool hose.I will absolutely be coming back here instead of a big home improvement store in the future. Wish I knew about this place sooner.

Love the neighborhood hardware store, but be prepared to pay a premium for the convenience. Staff are super friendly and usually someone floating by to take you to what you need. Great for a quick in and out stop.

We've purchased most of our yard gear (lawn mower, trimmer, etc.) from Ace and always received very good service. Last year we bought a snowblower from a big box store; it was poorly put together by their service department and getting it set right was a nightmare. We finally just returned it. This year, we're buying one from Ace, because we know we can trust them.

This store is LEGIT. This reminds me of how Ace Hardware stores were back in the day. The staff. Always helpful here. Incredibly knowledgeable. If they don't know the answer or can't find a part -- they'll do what it takes. The outdoor grill section is outstanding. The selection is sensational. Their small engine department services a wide array of models as well.No, it doesn't have everything under the sun as a big box store would. And it's not fair to expect them to. This is mom and pop's Americana-style service, support and selection. I am a regular patron of this fantastic local Ace. These owner/operators are doing it the RIGHT way.

My smoker died when I put our Thanksgiving ham in it for our meal and we ended up putting the ham in the oven.The next day I did a search for smokers and the brand I wanted was only at this store where the other Ace stores and competitors had to have it shipped in. I had never been to this store before and called them and they were very pleasant to talk to and said that yes they 5 of those models on hand. It’s a 80 mile trip and they said park in back to load.I’m an old guy with a little bit of a handicap and Kurt the manager and two employees had the grill all assembled and lifted it up onto the back of my tall pickup and even strapped it down and made sure I was satisfied with it being secured properly and didn’t leave until I was absolutely satisfied with the loading. All three gentlemen were friendly, professional and as far as I’m concerned went way above and beyond helping us.Kurt also took the time to talk me through the maintenance of the new smoker and to call him personally if I had any issues.The last time I bought something like this at a box store I won’t mention, I had a guy come out and literally watched me load it by myself.This Ace Hardware Store might be 80 miles away but I’m definitely going back to this store.Thank you Kurt and thank you crew…well done and greatly appreciated!

I've been there twice, once for key duplication, once for everything needed for replacing a mailbox. Once was during business hours, the other was right after. Both times the store was bright and seemed clean and organized. Both times the staff were friendly and helped take me to what I needed in the store, talked about different options when available and we're able to find answers for my questions reasonably fast even when they really didn't need to know (example: the postal service requirements for mailbox placement). The only bad thing I might say is it's hard to get there if you don't know the block well. But I think the employees and service make it worth the small hassle.

Absolute best customer service from anyone in town. And everytime I go in someone says hello and asks if I need help. Prices may be slightly higher than some of the big box stores but I have no problems buying anything I need from these folks because of their willingness to answer questions and excellent customer service. The people are seemingly very nice. The store is clean and organized. They also have a wide variety or products. I've seen prices there double on some items compared to the likes of Home Depot or Menards for the same product. I'm all for local businesses but won't pay double. Good store.
