Spacious campsites, full hookups available, plenty of grass but limited shade. Easy access to I-80 for travelers. Water quality is poor (typical for Iowa) and swimming is discouraged.

Most well-maintained state park and camping experience ever! Bathrooms are clean, showers are hot (and free), campsites are numerous. The lake is very pretty! Also, they put on free Saturday night movies with free popcorn! What a place! And only $14 to camp. This is truly an Iowan and American gem.Restrooms: Extremely clean. No spider webs or bugs camping inside either!

My wife & I, and some friends, spent a couple days and nights here recently. Absolutely loved it! We especially appreciated the "kayak launch docks" located in several places. Beautiful scenery, a good biking/hiking trail, and clean bathrooms. We'll be back.

It's a great state park. Nice and well maintained. It has a paved bike/walking trail around the lake. The campsites are well groomed and level. The shower house is clean. It has a nice playground for the kids. The lake is clean. The beach could use some work. We had a nice time camping here last weekend.

One of America's best state parks! Well maintained and they have a kayak launcher for kayaking in Lake Anita. I didn't want to leave this place. Free admission and plenty of parking. I highly recommend visiting this park!

Wonderful. We stopped by on a Thursday night after making online reservations. Almost no one in the campsites but we saw a lot or tags for people coming on Friday. Electric and full hookups looked packed and I doubt you could get a spot if you didn't make reservations. Amenities were clean and everything was well taken care of. Looked like lots of biking trails, fishing, boating, and there was even a beach on the opposite side of the lake. We would come back and stay a little longer than one night.

This place was great! From the lighted Kayak Parade was the best. Also they have a Saturday night movie with popcorn for the kids. Lots of bike riding. Fishing for kids. Paved loop around the lake. DNR very available for questions. We had 13 people and everyone enjoyed it.

Reserved spot 113 for two nights this weekend. Traveled with my two kids, nine and six, to meet Grandma and Grandpa. Park was prfect let cation that under normal circumstances would have been an excellent campground minus a few challenges.Modern testrooms, cleaned and well maintained in addition to the water hookup at our sit was a nice touch. You may want to take the following challenges with a grain of salt but we camp all over the upper Midwest so I have seen the good and the bad.First off the terranced camp sites make for a great view but can make backing in a 40' 5th wheel challenging on a single lane road with minimal shoulder. With two kids it was a bit of an adventure to get to the only playground all the way on the other end of the campground. The one lane roads make for interesting routes through the campground. When it's time to dump tanks you have to look all the way up to the other end of the campground to the SINGLE dump site. Would benefit in adding two or even four sites down closer to the boat docks.

Only spent a night but this State Park is the best we have stayed at yet. Clean grounds and shower/restrooms. Great hiking trails and super level sites even for a 35' fifth wheel still connected to the truck.

Campground is off the lake, which provided a beautiful views. Campground has tight/narrow roads which made it difficult getting into our site. No staff or station was available upon check-in. Small town grocery store and gas station nearby, within 5miles. Campground about 10mins from freeway. DirecTV (free standing satellite) had no issue. Verizon phone was able to get 4g signal. Boat ramp and fishing available within the park. Many of the campsites are covered by full tree that produce shade. Our site had full service at a good price. Our family is currently traveling this beautiful country via RV style, and have been RV'ing for many years. Therefore, we have an idea between high-standard qualities and poor quality. Very nice campsite, more than affordable tent camping! Super clean restrooms and showers. Great fire rings with grates. We went in May of 2021 - there were tons of RVs but hardly any tent campers, so very peaceful for us.

On our trip outwest on the very 1st day we stopped at lake Anita campground. My husband happened to notice that we had a flat on the inside dual tire. I was quite discouraged because on our first trip out this year during the heat wave our air conditioner had a meltdown in the middle of Nebraska. Anyway, The campground host Brad came to our rescue. He called friend after friend to see if they could come out to help on a Friday night. Finally he got someone to help us out his name was Rex. Now mind you this is a one ton RV we have no tools no Jack nothing to change the tire except we had a spare. Rex came prepared brought an air compressor tools and everything that we needed and him and Brad worked very hard on our RV and got the job done. Rex aired up the spare and gave us advice on where to get a new tire. We are very appreciative of how Brad went above and beyond being the campground host bringing in his friend to help with the tire. And anytime we're out that way we were surely stopped there. Thank you Brad and Rex!!Bob and Cindy and Wyatt ( our Rottweiler)From Gary, Indiana

Lake Anita State Park is a great park. You can fish, swim and no wake boat. The campground is pretty big, but if you want hook ups most of the RV sites will be reserved on the weekends as many people from the local area spend weekends there. There is a pretty sizable tent area and most of those sites have shade. They will also be busier on the weekends but not usually full. There is a bike/ walking trail that goes all the way around the lake about 4.5 miles. The town of Anita is not very big. They have a convenience store and a small grocery store so if you need something more than what they have to offer it will be a 15 mile drive to Atlantic, IA for grocery stores and Walmart. You can expect to see deer, many types of birds, and maybe even an eagle. The shower houses and restrooms in the campground have always been clean and well maintained when I've camped there. They do have day use picnic shelters throughout the park as well.

This was a perfect stop on our cross country journey for a camping break between michigan and colorado. We made a reservation beforehand for a non-electric basic site. It suited us perfectly. As it was off season and the bathrooms were closed we just stopped at the rest stop 10-15 mins before the park. The park is 4 mins from a cute little town where we could also grab gas in the morning on our way out.

Campground was great. Clean rest rooms and free showers. Wish the ground in my tent camp spot was a little more level. The bridge building racket was pretty horrible, but nothing the park could do about that.
