The owner is lovely, the selection is great, and the vibes are immaculate. I’m recognized by name when I enter, and they are always helpful. Whenever I bring my dogs they offer treats. This is the kind of personal, local pet store everyone deserves to experience.

This is my pup's very favorite shop to visit in Ames! The folks are super-friendly, there are always great new products to try (toys and treats), and they go above and beyond to make sure you get what you need for your furry friend! Their staff is knowledgeable, they hold nutrition workshops, and have fun Facebook Live sales. They get to know you and your dog and can tailor their recommendations based on your needs. My pup has a sensitive tummy and they helped me find the right products for her. Treats on a Leash also has a great customer loyalty program so the more you spend, the more you save in the long run. So glad they're in Ames!

Treats on a Leash is awesome! Good selection of chews that are healthy and keep our dogs busy. They also have a lot of cute bakery treats that our pets are obsessed with! The staff is always very friendly and helpful when we stop in. I love that Ames has a cute local pet shop!!! I definitely recommend checking it out if you’re in the Main Street area.

I love this store! The staff is nice everytime you stop in. I have a yellow lab that is thrilled everytime I come home with their little bakery treats. They are so well done they look like cookies for people! Really cute. I stopped by today and got her some cookies. The girl working was really nice. I am so happy this shop is here. When I come to ames and want to spoil my pup I come here!

Awesome helpful staff! Had my 2 boxers in on 2/18/23 and the staff helped with a game, a rug, and let us try out a new leash for one boy who pulls too hard when walking. The leash is amazing! Can't wait to come back!

Treats on a Leash is an amazing store! We were there yesterday and they helped us find boots for our pup for this extremely cold weather. They also have a wonderful selection of toys that are durable through all the chewing from our toy destroyer! Their selection of treats is healthy and safe for dogs. They were willing to answer my questions about grain free dog foods and were even able to help with picking out some treats for my dogs. I love how dogs are allowed in the store and my dogs are always excited to see them. Definitely coming back for my dogs needs!!

I love this store. Cute, unique and has everything you and your pet could want. Prices are reasonable and I like that it is pet friendly. Just keep in mind, that it is a small store. If your pet doesn't like other pets then maybe skip their personal visit.

I have shopped at Treats on a Leash for several years. I love ❤️ the personal service that Barb and Michael provide. I know when I shop here my dogs get the best of the best in terms of food,treats, toys, and other pet goodies. They give back to other pet organizations and provide superior services like delivering in the area. I love their new Scooby mobile and wish they could deliver to Jefferson. 😉When my Buddy and Rosie hear the crinkle of the bulk treat bags they go crazy as they know they will soon enjoy their favorite wholesome treats! Love going to Treats on a Leash! I don’t have my own dog (yet), but I’ve shopped at Treats for about 4 years now. They have amazing homemade dog treats in bulk. I always try to get the pumpkin ones for my sister’s pup. They LOVE them so much - always helpful for upset stomachs. Just a fun store to pop into and browse around during the downtown markets, too.

Treats on a Leash is so much more than just another pet supply store. This is an old fashioned mom and pop store, the kind of store where they know you and your pets, answer all of your questions and direct you to good products. They do a great job of purchasing as they rotate stock and change up the bulk treat selections but keep the tried and true! If you’re looking for something specific and don’t see it, just ask; they may be able to get it for you! Truly an amazing store and wonderful owners and staff! Stop in, your pets will love you for it!

I can't say enough about the generosity, knowledge and high level of service the employees and owners provide. My perspective is somewhat unique; as I'm both a very happy customer and a former employee. We started out as toys and treats customers and loved the store then, but when one of our dogs developed some dietary restrictions was when truly grew to really love this store! Barb worked with me while I worked with my vet to find the perfect food that would work for all 3 of our dogs. Treats On A Leash is the best pet store in Ames. A great local business that makes me feel so welcome. When I call, they know my name! And I know their names too. Connor and Barb both went way above and beyond to help us find the right food for our dog in her final days. In one of the hardest times in our lives, they were there for us and it is so amazing to have support from this local store in our community.

We’ve been going to Treats on a Leash for over 6 years. Barb and Michael are always friendly, helpful, thoughtful, and knowledgeable. Our 2 previous dogs loved visiting TOAL, and they would always be greeted with a treat and a smile, and when they both passed Barb and Michael sent us a sympathy card. We’ve recently adopted 2 more dogs, and one of them is a picky eater. Barb has been great with trying to help us find a food he’ll like and tolerate. We’ve been ordering our food for delivery lately, and always get the delivery the same day. Bailie, one of the other employees always recognizes my voice when I call to place my order, and is really nice and helpful.

I love this place. I'm here almost weekly to buy treats for my two dogs. My dogs love their products and they're great for dog training when teaching them tricks.The place is super clean and feels so high-end, the people working there are awesome, friendly, and well-knowledgeable about their products and pets and they're very helpful and attentive to their customers. Would definitely recommend, especially to people looking for a good place to get their dogs some quality treats they can enjoy!
