Nile and his associate in the copy/shipping area went above and beyond tonight helping me to package up a very awkward sized package. Even though I showed up with 5 minutes before they closed, their customer service was great. I kinda expected to get some complaint about the time and closing but they did not do that. They both busted their rears off helping me to get my package bubbled wrapped and safely boxed up. Thanks guys!

Horrible customer service and store. Went in to purchase a couple of dry erase boards. None of the prices where correct and the whole area was disorganized with nothing where it should be. We asked for help on prices and I asked why everything was was spread everywhere. I was told that we just happened to be in the most disorganized part of the store, only reason given. After getting prices figured out for what we wanted we ( my wife and I) walked to the other side of the store searching for desk calendars. While looking for the calendars we noticed the whole store was a mess, not just the area we where in. It was also obvious that the floors had not been vacuumed in a long while, just a dirty place. We found the calendar by the way! When we checked out it also had the wrong price on it. Supposed to cost 5.99 but rung up at 8.99. They have a stack of them by the check out stand with a huge sign stating 5 .99. This store needs some attention from management or a corporate office representative. I know times are tough but come on. Show some pride in your store.

I just had the hand-down worst customer service experience of my life. "Green Hair" was not only unhelpful but very rude. Whatever happened to caring about your job, employer, and customers?Check out clerk labored - yes, labored, to ring up the sale. Store manager was a disaster. If you are going to lead others, you need to dress like a leader, not look like you just rolled off of a vacation.This store's staff is a disappointment from the Manager on down. It's time for a purge and replacement.

I can't believe Corporate leaders tolerate the incredibly poor performance of this store's staff. Their "I don't give a $#it" attitude conveyed towards paying customers by this staff, is blaringly apparent from the moment you walk in the door. Bad attitudes, rude, and dismissive behaviors are alive and well here. If you go in asking for help in the copy center, do not make the mistake of believing you'll get any. Save yourself the insult and frustration, and buy your own copier. If you ask a reasonable question, don't expect an informed or professional response. The employees here do one thing very well: driving their customers toward other alternatives. Amazon, anyone?

Brought in 3 small business print jobs in email form. Guy I asked for help told me it had to be in a certain format for him to print. Not being an IT person I explained I have 2 to 4 of these printed at various print shops across the country every week wherever I'm working. He repeated the same thing 3 more times without ever looking at them. Took them to Office Depot in West Des Moines where Jessie printed all 3 jobs within 6-7 minutes. All I did was watch and pay. Lesson learned!

I had to come in several times last week with printer issues. Each and every time they were fast, friendly and helpful. I also appreciate that they recycle old electronics and have a rewards program for recycling ink cartridges. Thank you!

i went in yesterday 08/24 to purchase a gaming chair. It was not in stock however the sales supervisor said we could have it shipped to home for free and it would arrive tomorrow (08/25) As soon as I got the confirmation email regarding my order it said i wouldn't receive it until 08/27. As of 9pm on 08/25 my order hasn't even shipped. Had i known i wouldn't receive it today i would've asked which stores in the area had 1 in stock to go and purchase it today. Instead i was mislead so that the superviso got a sale at her store. Not impressed.

Tried to purchase a desk they had advertised on the floor. The associate attempted to look for it awhile then came Came back and said they only have the floor model and another desk in back that was assembled together. They would have to charge us extra $45 because it was assembled. Ridiculous why do they not keep in stock non assembled for the price they advertise? Spoke with manager who told us to order it on line. If we wanted it online we would not of come into store. We offered to pay price advertised on floor model since they had one put together. He said nope extra $45. Terrible customer service

I like that they take back old ink cartridges for recycling. They do have a large variety of office supplies but the staff is hit or miss. I've had some that have gone out of their way to be helpful while others don't seem to want to be bothered .

Don't bother going to their copy center unless you have a giant order for them to not complete in time (that's a joke, do not go here). Really. Go to the Ankeny Staples if you have the option. Otherwise, just go to the library for copies. Their staff at the copy center are completely unhelpful and rude. Best case scenario is they just pass you off to self serve anyways. Ames Public Library does 10 cent copies.

My daughter went to buy a laptop with money from graduation. She got home and opened the box to find a used laptop locked with someone else's password. It even had a stain on it. They just tried to rip her off. Definitely poor service!!!

I visited this store to research computers knowing that I was going to replace the family laptop. Even though my wife and I stood in the aisle for 10+ minutes, not a single employee decided to walk the 20' from where they were standing to ask if we needed assistance. Luckily, each of the computers had an internet connection where I could look at reviews and additional specs from a Google search.

Staff was knowledgeable of stock and was helpful but I had to ask. The store does appear to be a bit understaffed though so I can understand lack of offering help. I am one that does not like being bothered until I am ready to ask anyhow.

A friend on mine was shopping and went through checkout. She is a Black American. The person checking her out was holding a box-cutter and when she looked at it he put it behind his back, not down. It was not until she left/walked away (as she was looking back) when he put it down. What message does this send? Obviously not a safe one...

I love this store! Every time I've gone into the store needing something, the staff has been friendly and very helpful. I bought all of my printers, a copy machine, ink, paper shredder, and office supplies from this Staples in Ames, and they have all been wonderful products.

Staples is a staple to a college town. Very useful during my years at ISU and even afterwards when in Ames. I have been to nicer locations with better service though.
