Was in the market for a new cross country capable touring bike. Worked several weeks through several visits and emails with Ron, Andrew, and Jason to decide on the best choice. Went with the Salsa Marrakesh and really pleased with the initial impressions like ride, look, feel, etc... Look forward breaking it in over the next few months. The whole crew at Skunk River was great to work with from full blown professional bike fitting that took over an hour to deciding on final bike choice and other components like fenders and shoes. Over the years their mechanics have also been first rate, reasonably priced, and a pleasure to work with. They've even provided tips to help reduce future visits.

A call-out for Jason Quinn who is now based at Skunk River, doing custom frame fitting. Jason helped me correct some original fit deficiencies and to adapt my road bike to my older body. He has both the expertise and the equipment to diagnose fit issues and correct them. Highly recommended!

Stopped in to look around with my wife, we received such great service. No pressure sales, the individuals working (and owner) took the time to explain everything we needed for two novice riders. I brought my bike in for a tune up and had a great experience. They looked at my bike with me and asked a lot of questions about what specific issues i had. They gave an estimate before starting on it, then texted me while working on it to check in about what brakes I wanted to replace my brake pads. Good communication and great work on the bike! I have also bought supplies there at other times, and they are always very helpful and friendly.

The owner and all the workers are extremely helpful and wonderful. They are knowledgeable and always happy to help. If you buy anything there for your bike they will help you learn and help put things on. I just got clip in shoes and pedals and they put them on and helped me practice getting in and out on a bike trainer!Always happy to spend my money there!

Best bike shop in town. The mechanics are super knowledgeable and will recommend exactly what you need without trying to sell you stuff you don't.I picked up a Surly Long Haul Trucker and wanted to change from bar-end to STI shifters, and the staff was able to switch out all the components I needed to make it compatible with the Surly frame.Great selection of bikes, accessories, and clothing. Also a great place to get hooked in to the local cycling community.

Our daughter is a student at Iowa State. We brought her bike in to get tuned up. The mechanics did a great job. The cost was half the price than our shops here in the south suburbs of Chicago. They did a great job, that I will be bringing my bike there as well to get tuned up.

70 mile ride tomorrow and I need a new back tire (not tube but the actual tire) because the cords (or whatever they are called) are showing...Called these guys and they said they could get it done today. The is not the first time I have had my bike in for service there. I am a repeat customer and will continue to be. Service was fast and they always do a quick check on the bike to make sure it is good to go.I have taken two friend's bikes in to for service at Skunk River and both friends thought the work was done well and the charges were very reasonable. I'd recommend them to anyone.

I've been buying bikes from Ron for over 32 years, from my very first cherry red 10 speed. The guys at Skunk River are friendly, knowledgable, and won't try to 'oversell' you on something you don't need. I find great value with Skunk River and will continue to buy from them. Owner of the shop is a phenomenal guy! I thought i needed more then what i did, but he said nope all you need is the brake shoes and some lube. Didnt push their service. Will go back for sure

Came in to get information about road bikes and find out how long the backorder on their bikes was. Stood around for about 5 - 10 minutes waiting for assistance. With 3 people behind the counter none even acknowledge our presence. Then one of the 3 answered a phone call and walked in our direction, looked at a bike right next to us then walked backed to the counter and hung up a phone. Never coming back out to see what help we needed. After that we walked out and left the store. Went to another competitor bike store and ordered a bike.
